Leon Battista Alberti (1404 - 72) described Beauty in architecture as concinnitas: a harmony or congruity of the various parts of a building assembled according to principles :summarised
by three categories of numerus, finitio and collocatio .
This term has been interpreted variously and most famously in
recent times by Rudolph Wittkower. Starting with his and other
scholars' interpretations, this dissertation proposes a new
definition for concinnitas based on studies of Alberti's
architectural theory and practice and the work of his contemporaries.
Chapters 1, 3 and 4 of the dissertation focus on the
application of numerus and finitio in Alberti's architectural
practice and observations made here are supported by separate
historical studies of the buildings (be found in the appendices) and survey drawings (bound together at the end of the
dissertation). Chapter two is a study of the symbolic references, traditions and themes which appear to underlie the
design of centralised churches and points raised here are expanded
in later chapters. The third category, collocatio, is
examined in the final chapters when the continuity of tradition
in Alberti's approach to architecture is outlined within the framework of the city and the urban ensemble of church, palace, piazza and loggia

Exílio e erotismo no Retrato de la Lozana andaluza e em suas recriações
No full textDissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Literatura, Florianópolis, 2013.Este trabalho aborda algumas questões acerca do livro Retrato de la Lozana andaluza, de Francisco Delicado. Primeiro há uma análise de duas recriações do Retrato para outros contextos e em diferentes linguagens: o filme La Lozana andaluza (1974), de Vicente Escrivá e a peça teatral La Lozana andaluza (1963) de Rafael Alberti, seguido de um estudo complementar sobre a fragmentação das formas no Retrato e em outros autores, como Pietro Aretino, Bertolt Brecht e Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Na sequência trato da relação entre erotismo, religião, inquisição, feitiçaria, trabalho e prostituição, para estabelecer a relação destes conceitos entre si no Retrato e também o que se percebe presente nas recriações de Escrivá e de Alberti. Finalmente, problematizo o conceito de exílio tomando por base suas manifestações no Retrato, através de uma revisita ao conceito tradicional de exílio.Abstract : This paper addresses some questions about the book Retrato de la Lozana andaluza, by Francisco Delicado. First there is an analysis of two recreations of Retrato to other contexts and in different languages: the film La Lozana Andaluza (1974), by Vicente Escrivá and theater play La Lozana Andaluza (1963) by Rafael Alberti, followed by an additional study on the fragmentation of form in Retrato and other authors like Pietro Aretino, Bertolt Brecht and Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Proton Transfer Mediated by Water: Experimental Evidence by Neutron Diffraction
No full textNeutron Rietveld refinement of a synthetic low silica ferrierite (Si/Al = 8.5) in deuterium form rehydrated with D2O vapor (RD-FER) was performed in the Immm space group. Three Brønsted acid sites were identified. The first (D1) was on O4 framework oxygen, occupied to 18%; the second (D2) was on O6, occupied to 8%; the latter (D3) was on O1, occupied to 35%. This Brønsted site distribution strongly differs from that found in the nonrehydrated deuterium form (D-FER) in the same ferrierite sample (Martucci, A.; Alberti, A.; Cruciani, G.; Radaelli, P.; Ciambelli, P.; Rapacciuolo, M. Microporous Mesoporous Mater. 1999, 30, 95.), where D3 site is absent and D1 and D2 are occupied to 14 and 16%, respectively. The discrepancy between the Brønsted sites found in RD-FER and D-FER indicated remarkable acidic proton mobility and was explained by a proton transfer mechanism where water molecules or water clusters act as carriers of protons
