The Impact of English Language on Non-Native English Speaking Students' Performance in Programming Class
How Do Teachers and Students Perceive The Utility of Blackboard as a Distance Learning Platform? (Case Study from Taibah University, Saudi Arabia)
This research explores the role of Knowledge Management within the education field with a specific focus on the use of Learning Management Systems in the Distance Learning (e-learning) process. The aim of this study is to thoroughly examine how teachers and students perceive the utility of the Blackboard system as a distance learning platform. To achieve this, the study conducted qualitative interviews and quantitative questionnaire surveys with the teachers and students of Taibah University, Saudi Arabia. Questions in both data collection tools were geared towards gaining insight about how these two groups of Blackboard users view its usefulness as a distance learning tool. The results of the research revealed that Blackboard is viewed as a positive influence on distance learning, and that students view this application as an opportunity to avoid traditional, classroom learning activities. Also, the research discovered that teachers generally have a positive viewpoint about Blackboard, and believe it makes teaching a lot easier. Nevertheless, few issues were also mentioned by both groups of users, particularly the challenge of slow internet connections and difficulty of creating exams (teachers) or accessing and completing exams in a time-effective manner (students). To address these challenges, and any other as well, this research recommended that universities or learning institutions that decide to adopt LMS systems such as Blackboard for distance learning have to conduct a thorough analysis of their current structure, and determine how this new method of teaching/learning can be integrated into existing learning activities in a seamless manner. A thorough investigation will aid in forestalling any future challenges such as poor internet connections, as the school would have implemented measures to ensure this does not occur
Translate Together : Managed Translation and Peer-Review
This paper describes a tool for managing peer-reviewed translation activities within CS1 classes. The tool is designed to help students develop a better understanding of terms within class by writing and reviewing translations of those terms and their descriptions in their native language. The peer-review of the translations means that lecturers do not need to share the language of their students.</p
Effect of native language on learning to program
The dominance of the English language in computer science across programming languages, documentation, instruction, and scientific publication is well recognized. This situation contrasts with the actual distribution of spoken languages in the world, where only approximately 5% of the population of the world are native English speakers and a further 15% are non-native English speakers (NNES). For NNES students learning programming or computing in universities, the dominance of the English language can present a challenge. This challenge can manifest in multiple forms such as keywords, technical documentation, tutorials, or even descriptive terminology that may only exist in English. This situation impacts international students in English-speaking countries, those studying in regions where English is the medium of instruction, and it also affects students in non-English-speaking countries who do not study in English. In all of these cases, students may have to deal with computer terminologies or other documentation that have no direct translations in their language. This working group aims to systematically investigate the extent that the English language presents a barrier to non-native English speakers in computing education, specifically in introductory programming courses delivered entirely in English to populations of non-native English speakers. This multi-prong effort is based on the existing literature, instructor observations, student experiences, and popular introductory programming textbooks. The diverse nationalities and localities of the working group members prime our work for varied perspectives on the topic

Investigation, translation and applications of morphology, syntax and rhetoric for verses 13-34 of the poem Banet Suad by Ahmed b. Osman Efendi Pembezade
Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, Temel İslam Bilimleri Ana Bilim DalıBu tezde Pembezâde Ahmed b. Osman Efendi'nin yazdığı Şerhu Kâsideti Bânet Suad isimli eserin belli kısmının tercümesi ile dil, sarf, nahiv, belagat uygulamaları ve tahkikli metni ele alınmıştır. Sözü edilen kaside Kâ'b b. Züheyr'in Hz. In thıs thesıs, Pembezâde Ahmed b. The translation of a certain part of the work called Şerhu Kâsideti Bânet Suad written by Osman Efendi, language, usage, syntax, rhetoric practices and edition critical work are discussed. The aforementioned qasida Kab b. Zuhayr's Hz. It is Kasîdetü'l-Bürde, which he presented to the Prophet on this occasion, where he attained his happiness. The famous qasida, one of the most important examples of Arabic poetry, sheds light on the poetry understanding of that period in terms of containing all the features of jahiliyya poetry. Due to this importance, many commentaries, tahmis and tastirs were written on the eulogy. Ottoman scholar Pembezâde Ahmed b. Osman Efendi was included in the tradition of commentary on Kasîdetü'l-Bürde with the work he wrote. When the work that is the subject of the study is examined, it is seen that the author has a detailed command of the Arabic language. However, when the literature review was made, Pembezâde Ahmed b. Seeing that Osman Efendi's works were not the subject of any comprehensive study, prompted us to download the Şerhu Kasideti Bânet Suad from the dusty shelves of libraries and present it to the service of the scientific community. The study consists of an introduction and six chapters. In the first part, the owner of the eulogy Kab b. Züheyr, the owner of the annotation in the second part, Pembezâde Ahmed b. Osman Efendi, in the third section, the methods and principles followed in translation and verification, in the fourth section the translation of the work, in the fifth section the use of syntax, syntax and rhetoric in the specified part of the work, and the proofreading of the commentary in the sixth section.
