In Indonesia, almost everyone has a gadget or more specifically, a smart cellular phone that is connected to the internet network very easily. Cyberbullying is a way of bullying that involves sophisticated digital technology, which almost always uses the internet as a tool. Cyberbullying is characterized by aggressive behavior carried out by a person or several people using electronic media services including the internet, which is carried out continuously, where the target victim is someone who is considered weak or unable to fight back. The forms of cyberbullying are usually in the form of ridicule, insults, threats or intimidation. The perpetrators of cyberbullying have the motivation to take these actions in the form of anger and revenge, frustration, wanting to be the center of attention of the surrounding environment, mere entertainment, or even just joking with the victim. Victims of cyberbullying often experience a number of psychological problems to even think of committing suicide. The problems that arise are how severe the cyberbullying behavior is in damaging the victim's psychology and/or physical appearance from the perspective of victimology and how to mitigate cyberbullying and take action against the perpetrators from a criminological perspective. The author conducted a qualitative research in which this research is descriptive analytical. Victims of cyberbullying have committed suicide. If it turns out that cyberbullying is felt to be very worrying, then what needs to be done is to capture a screen display containing bullying carried out on social media, be it via a smartphone or computer, then report it to the police. Victims of cyberbullying should receive treatment from professionals such as psychologists, psychiatrists, even the police and the Witness and Victim Protection Agency. The author recommends appropriate punishment for perpetrators who openly cyberbullying in accordance with the ITE Law, because some of them do not regret and even enjoy their actions. Cases of corruption are still often heard in the media. There were 553 cases of corruption that were prosecuted by the KPK in 2021. Corruption during the reformation period is now increasingly widespread. There are several problems in eradicating corruption in Indonesia. Corruptive behavior in this article is discussed using the approach of criminology and victimology. The author uses a qualitative research method with a normative juridical type. Corruption is classified as a white-collar crime, where the perpetrators do not care about state losses. Criminal sanctions and administrative sanctions are expected to be able to reduce the number of corruption, although there is a possibility that the perpetrators of corruption are perpetrators who meet the provisions of the victim precipitation theory. In addition, piety to God is seen as important in preventing corruptive behavior, because it is closely related to self-control. On the other hand, the role of LPSK is expected to be able to protect whistle blowers as well as witnesses and victims in an effort to uncover the mastermind behind the corruption cases. Further research should be conducted to achieve more knowledge about the relationship between corruption and criminology and victimology related to the evolution of motives for corruptive behavior in its contribution to the cause of state losses, as well as the protection of witnesses and victims. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    Get PDF
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Crime in its simplest form can take the form of verbal and non-verbal violence. Verbal and non-verbal violence are often to be carried out collectively, and people who experience verbal or non-verbal violence to be hurt inside. Especially when the victims are children. The problem is why the verbal and non-verbal violence that was carried out collectively received less attention from law enforcement officials? Furthermore, what about the strategy to minimize verbal and non-verbal violence that is carried out collectively in society. This research is a qualitative research model with a normative juridical type by observing, studying, and considering various norms, proper behavior that lives and is practiced in society, as well as theories in criminology and various legal rules that apply in Indonesia, regarding these matters. Verbal and non-verbal violence, especially those carried out collectively, can be reported to law enforcement officials, but given that most of the sentences are under five years in prison, the resolution of this case is in the form of restorative justice, such mediation for peace takes place. In cases of verbal and non-verbal violence, the police encourage the perpetrators and victims to reconcile, because of the short sentence, psychological damage which is difficult to measure the level of loss. Strategies to minimize verbal and non-verbal violence are abandon the styles of language and behavior that ignite those verbal and non-verbal violence in everyday interactions and start humanist communication, which can be taught in early age. Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    Get PDF
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
