No full textThe internationally renowned author of numerous novels, essays, and articles, Georg Hermann, was born as Georg Borchardt in Berlin-Friedenau on October 7, 1871, the youngest of six children in a well-established Jewish family. Later in life he used his father’s first name Hermann as his surname when writing. Contrary to the expectations for a young man from a reputable family, Hermann did not pursue the Abitur exam in a Gymnasium (secondary school), but instead received a one-year certificate in 1890, leaving school to become an apprentice salesman at a tie company. From 1896 until 1899 he worked in the Statistical Office of Berlin, at the same time attending literature and art history lectures at the University of Berlin. Afterwards he worked as a freelance writer and art critic.His first book, 'Spielkinder', was published in 1896, but he did not become well-known until 1906, with the publication of 'Jettchen Gebert', followed by its sequel, 'Henriette Jacoby'. These novels told the story of the life of a young woman living in Jewish Berlin during the Biedermeier period of the 1820s and 1830s. Politically active, Georg Hermann was also a member of the Central-Verein deutscher Staatsbürger jüdischen Glaubens.Having become known for his pacifist tendencies through his writing, and because of his Jewish heritage, Georg Hermann and his family fled to Holland shortly after the burning of the Reichstag in 1933. Although the rest of his family was saved from the Nazis after their occupation of Holland in 1943, Georg Hermann was sent to the Dutch concentration camp of Westerbork. Alternaria toxins as casein kinase 2 inhibitors and possible consequences for estrogenicity: a hybrid in silico/in vitro study
Full text linkEmerging mycotoxins produced by Alternaria spp. were previously reported to exert cytotoxic, genotoxic, but also estrogenic effects in human cells. The involved mechanisms are very complex and not fully elucidated yet. Thus, we followed an in silico target fishing approach to extend knowledge on the possible biological targets underlying the activity of alternariol, taken as the signature compound of Alternaria toxins. Combining ligand-based screening and structure-based modeling, the ubiquitous casein kinase 2 (CK2) was identified as a potential target for the compound. This result was validated in a cell-free in vitro CK2 activity assay, where alternariol inhibited CK2 with an IC50 of 707 nM. As CK2 was recently discussed to influence estrogen receptor (ER) transcription and DNA-binding affinity, we assessed a potential impact on the mRNA levels of ERα or ERβ by qRT-PCR and on nuclear localization of the receptors by confocal microscopy, using estrogen-sensitive Ishikawa cells as a model. While AOH did not affect the transcription of ERα or ERβ, an increase in nuclear localization of ERα after incubation with 10 μM AOH was observed. However, this effect might be due to ER binding affinity and therefore estrogenicity of AOH. Furthermore, in silico docking simulation revealed not only AOH, but also a number of other Alternaria toxins as potential inhibitors of CK2, including alternariol monomethyl ether and the perylene quinone derivative altertoxin II (ATX-II). These findings were representatively confirmed in vitro for the perylene quinone derivative altertoxin II, which was found to inhibit the kinase with an IC50 of 5.1 μM. Taken together, we propose CK2 inhibition as an additional mechanism to consider in future studies for alternariol and several other Alternaria toxins

Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Bedeutung des Change Agent in der heutigen Zeit he-rauszustellen. Um dies zu erreichen, wurden zunächst die notwendigen Arbeitsdefinitionen herausgearbeitet..Danach werden im 2. Kapitel der Arbeit externe Rahmenbedingungen vorgestellt, die zu der sich ständig verändernden Unternehmenswelt führen. Weiterhin werden Gründe für das Scheitern von Change Managementprojekten genannt. Im 3. Kapitel werden die Unterschiede zwischen dem internen und externen Change Agent sowie Vor- und Nachteile der unterschiedlichen Rollen diskutiert. Im 4. Kapitel werden die Individuen und Gruppen vorgestellt, mit welchen der Change Agent im Change Management typischerweise zusammenarbeitet.Das 5. Kapitel beschäftigt sich mit den Fähigkeiten des Change Agent, welche er im Veränderungsprozess benötigt. Seine fachlichen, beratenden, konzeptionellen Fähigkeiten, sowie seine Fähigkeiten im Umgang mit Individuen und Gruppen werden diskutiert. Im 6. Kapitel sollen die unterschiedlichen Phasen im Veränderungsprozess besprochen werden. Hierbei werden die Aufgaben des Change Agents im Change Management herausgearbeitet.Das 7. Kapitel beschäftigt sich mit dem Problem des Widerstands gegen die Veränderung, mit welchem sich der Change Agent in der Regel im Change Management auseinandersetzen muss. Es werden Gründe für das Aufkommen von Widerständen genannt sowie Praktiken, welche der Change Agent anwendet, um diese Ursachen entkräften und den Widerstand minimieren zu können.Abschließend wird im 8. Kapitel ein kurzer Überblick über die zukünftige Bedeutung des Change Agent für den Unternehmenserfolg gegeben. Des weiteren geben die Autoren Hinweise zur Zukunft des Change Agent und dessen Einsatz im Unternehmen.This Master Thesis is mainly focusing on “who” has to change some “how” and “which” level of skills are necessary to execute a change professionally by disregarding “what” has to be changed today in a company. The target of this Thesis is to explain and underline in this day and age the importance of the Change Agent. To achieve the target we are starting by explaining several basics and definitions in this working environment.In chapter 2 of this document the external framework and conditions are introduced which are liable due to the frequently changing company environment. Also the main reasons of fail in change projects are named.In chapter 3 the differences between internal and external change agents are figured out by taking also into account the advantages and disadvantages of those two roles.In chapter 4 all groups and individuals, being relevant in a change process are intro-duced and also the relation of them to the change agent.Chapter 5 is about the professional skill level of the change agent so he is proper prepared in the change process. Conceptual-, professional- and consultative skills as well as the behavior dealing with all groups and individuals are explained.In chapter 6 the different steps and levels in a change process are introduced. As-signments and to dos for the change agent in the different steps will be discussed.Chapter 7 is all about the resistance of companies and systems against a change - mostly a change agent has to deal with. Several reasons about the resistance are named and possible solutions to minimize the power behind.In the last chapter 8 a future prospect about the importance of change agents foused on the overall company success and from our point of view is mentioned.
