Chatter identification in turning process based on vibration analysis using Hilbert-Huang transform
In machining process, the increasing cutting depth is aimed to accelerate machining operations in a short time. However, the increasing cutting depth can cause chatter vibration at any time. Chatter can accelerate tool wear and lead to poor machined surface. This paper studied the application of Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) to analyse chatter caused by the increasing cutting depth during operation. Chatter vibration is typical of non-stationary and non-linear vibration signals, therefore it should be analysed by appropriate signal processingmodal mass, damping ratio, and stiffness. Then stability lobe chart was generated based on those dynamic modal parameters to determine cutting parameters. Second, turning tests were conducted and then vibrations obtained in turning tests were analysed using HHT for chatter detection. The results were then compared by conventional signal processingshort-time Fourier (STFT) transforms. The results show that the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) of HHT process separated complex vibrations into simple components and isolated chatter from the others. The chatter was isolated in the first IMF. Therefore, chatter can be identified by EMD process. In the spectrum analysis, HHT spectra showed its superiority over STFT spectra. HHT spectra provided high time resolution and high frequency resolution both rather than STFT spectra that provided blurry and blocked spectra. The implication is that HHT can be applied to monitor the machining process
Ocular malignant fibrous histiocytoma: a rare case report
Introduction: To date, malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is generally accepted as a type of soft tissues sarcomas. Histiocytoma originally was suspected as mesenchymal cells that cannot be differentiated. Based on previous researches, MFH is uncommon in children. This paper reports a case of ocular MFH on the management of children with chemotherapy and showed significant results.
Case Reports: A 5-year, 4-month-old boy went to Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital, Makassar on October 23rd 2013 with early diagnosis of suspect ocular rhabdomyosarcoma tumour. On physical examination, a lymphadenopathy (two pieces) on the left cervical glands were found with the size of each 1x1 cm, and left ocular mass with 5x5x5 cm with solid consistency. Laboratory studies revealed a white blood cell count of 8,340/mm3 , a haemoglobin level of 12 g/dl and platelet count 610,000/mm3 , renal and liver function tests were within the normal limits, diagnostic studies including radiographs of the lung showed no evidence of disease. With the diagnosis of Storiform-pleomorphic-type MFH, he was put on a combined chemotherapy with vincristine, cyclophosphamide and doxorubicin. At the fourth cycle of chemotherapy, the size of mass was decreased until no lump and the patient\u27s eye showed normal physical appearance. No rheum on the eye or inflammation after the chemotherapy.
Conclusion: The diagnosis of ocular MFH in a 5-year, 4-month-old boy was established by history taking, physical examination and histopathological examination. The treatment was chemotherapy and the prognosis depends on the site and location of the tumour
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
