Acute appendicitis: Position paper, WSES, 2013
Appendectomy is one of the most frequently performed operative procedures in general surgery departments of every size and category. Laparoscopic Appendectomy - LA - as compared to Open Appendectomy - OA - was very controversial at first but has found increasing acceptance all over the World, although the percentage of its acceptance is different in the various single National setting. Various meta-analyses and Cochrane reviews have compared LA with OA and different technical details. Furthermore, new surgical methods have recently emerged, namely, the single-port/incision laparoscopic appendectomy and NOTES technique. Their distribution among the hospitals, however, is unclear. Using laparoscopic mini-instruments with trocars of 2-3.5 mm diameter is proposed as a reliable alternative due to less postoperative pain and improved aesthetics. How to proceed in case of an inconspicuous appendix during a procedure planned as an appendectomy remains controversial despite existing study results. But the main question still is: operate or not operate an acute appendicitis, in the meaning of an attempt of a conservative antibiotic therapy. Therefore, we have done a literature survey on the performance of appendectomies and their technical details as well as the management of the intraoperative finding of an inconspicuous appendix in order to write down - under the light of the latest evidence - a position paper. © 2014 Agresta et al.; licensee BioMed Central Ltd

In her thesis, Agresta analyses wills from Castello d’Empuries in 1286-1363, challenging the assumption that these wills represent the true, final concerns of the dying. Agresta argues that these documents blend the personal with the professional as a collaboration between a testator and their notary. She views the will not as purely spiritual or familial, but as the notary’s application of social norms and trends to the testator’s plan for salvation. This thesis looks at the repetitive nature of testaments as a contribution of the role of notaries in the will-making process uses this as a basis for reevaluating the meaning of wills and the importance of notaries, which increased over the time period
Le "Fenomeno Zola" et le marché noir des traductions italiennes de l'oeuvre du maitre du naturalisme
Le fenomeno Zola éclate en Italie avec la publication de
L’Assommoir (1877) qui, pour sa portée scandaleuse, suscite nombre de débats chez
les critiques ainsi qu’un vif succès de public. À partir de ce moment, le marché
éditorial italien assiste à une explosion de la demande d’œuvres du maître du
Naturalisme et à une multiplication croissante des traductions des romans de Zola.
Dans le climat de changements et d’effervescence culturelle, tel qu’il l’était celui de
l’Italie post-unitaire, la réception de l’œuvre et de l’image zolienne a subi
d’altérations importantes. Dans cet article, on essayera de retracer les facteurs qui ont
contribué à la diffusion d’une perception erronée du Naturalisme dans le Beau Pays et
de mettre en relief les « effets secondaires » du succès de l’écrivain qui ont affecté
pendant décennies la juste réception de la doctrine naturaliste en Italie et qui,
aujourd’hui encore, empêchent de porter un jugement vraiment objectif sur l’art de

Entrevista com a legendista profissional Melina Agresta
RESUMO: Melina Agresta é legendista há oito anos. Nesse período, já legendou filmes, séries, documentários, entre outros vídeos, para clientes como Netflix, HBO e Universal, fazendo uso de softwares em plataformas Cloud. Na entrevista concedida à revista Texto Livre: Linguagem e Tecnologia, a legendista fala um pouco sobre sua experiência profissional e faz avaliações críticas sobre essa profissão. Entre os pontos destacados, Melina admite que o tradutor de legendas é um profissional criativo e visível, cujo estilo pode ser impresso nas legendas a partir da escolha de palavras, do registro linguístico adotado e dos procedimentos utilizados para traduzir expressões para a cultura alvo. A legendista afirma ainda que, se por um lado a legendagem propicia ao tradutor um trabalho dinâmico, por outro os prazos e as normas a serem seguidos dificultam a atuação desse profissional.

ABSTRACT:Melina Agresta has been a subtitler for eight years. Over this period, she has subtitled movies, TV series, documentaries, among other videos, to be streamed on Netflix, HBO and Universal, by making use of Cloud-based software. In the interview given to the journal Texto Livre: Linguagem e Tecnologia, the subtitler writes about her professional experience and makes critical evaluations on this profession. Among her highlights, Melina admits that the subtitles translator is a creative and visible professional, whose style can be fingerprinted on his/her subtitles through the choice of words, the linguistic register adopted and the procedures used to render expressions in the target culture. Furthermore, Melina adds that, although subtitling is a dynamic experience, it likewise hinders the subtitler’s performance due to strict deadlines and norms.
