Fractional Regularity for Nonlinear Elliptic Problems with Measure Data

    No full text
We consider nonlinear elliptic equations of the type diva(x,Du)=μ-\text{\rm div}\,a(x, Du)=\mu having a Radon measure on the right-hand side and prove fractional differentiability results of Calder\'on-Zygmund type for very weak solutions. We extend some of the results achieved by G. Mingione (Ann. Scu. Norm. Sup., 2007), in turn improving a regularity result by Cirmi \& Leonardi (DCDS-A, 2010)

Nonlinear parabolic problems with lower order terms and related integral estimates

    No full text
We deal with the solutions to nonlinear parabolic equations of the form utdiva(x,t,Du)+g(x,t,u)=f(x,t)onΩT=Ω×(T,0), u_t-div a(x,t,Du)+g(x,t,u)=f(x,t) on \Omega_T=\Omega\times(-T,0), under standard growth conditions on gg and aa, with ff only assumed to be integrable to the power γ>1\gamma > 1. We prove general local decay estimates for level sets of the solutions uu and the gradient DuDu which imply very general estimates in rearrangement function spaces (Lebesgue, Orlicz, Lorentz) and non-rearrangement ones, up to Lorentz–Morrey spaces

Measure data problems, lower-order terms and interpolation effects

    No full text
We deal with the solutions to nonlinear elliptic equations of the form diva(x,Du)+g(x,u)=f, −div a(x,Du)+g(x,u)=f, with ff being just a summable function, under standard growth conditions on gg and aa. We prove general local decay estimates for level sets of the gradient of solutions in turn implying very general estimates in rearrangement and non-rearrangement function spaces, up to Lorentz–Morrey spaces. The results obtained are in clear accordance with the classical Gagliardo–Nirenberg interpolation theory

Global estimates for nonlinear parabolic equations

    No full text
We consider nonlinear parabolic equations of the type utdiva(x,t,Du)=f(x,t) on ΩT=Ω×(T,0), u_t - \text{div}\, a(x, t, Du)= f(x,t) \ \, \text{on} \ \Omega_T = \Omega\times (-T,0), under standard growth conditions on aa, with ff only assumed to be integrable. We prove general decay estimates up to the boundary for level sets of the solutions uu and the gradient DuDu which imply very general estimates in Lebesgue and Lorentz spaces. Assuming only that the involved domains satisfy a mild exterior capacity density condition, we provide global regularity results

    Nonlocal Harnack inequalities

We state and prove a general Harnack inequality for minimizers of nonlocal, possibly degenerate, integro-differential operators, whose model is the fractional p-Laplacian

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
