Screenwriting, authorship and gender in Swedish cinema of the 1940s: Dagmar Edqvist’s ‘The Ingegerd Bremssen case’
Through a case study analysis, this article suggests that women’s screen-writing in Sweden in the 1940s eluci-dates important aspects of cinematic authorship in relation to cultural hierarchies and gender. The analysis consists of a contextualized reading of the 1942 film Fallet Ingegerd Bremssen (‘The Ingegerd Bremssen case’), based on Dagmar Edqvist’s psychological novel about a rape and its after-effects, with a screenplay writ-ten by the author herself. A textual adaptation analysis – focusing on the screenwriting style and how the woman’s perspective and experience in the novel is transformed in the adaptation – is contextualized against the historical backdrop of the changes in screenwriting practices during this period as well as of the critical reception of the film. </p

Real Life as a Play on Stage - A Study of Guilt and Shame in Ian McEwan's "Atonement"
In the novel "Atonement" by Ian McEwan, questions of guilt, shame and redemption are in focus. The main character Briony Tallis is presented as making up for a crime by working on a novel for 59 years. In this essay the novel's proposition of atonement is discussed from three perspectives: Briony as the passive observer and the fictive author of the novel, as the actress in the drama of her life seeking atonement and as the actress in the drama of her own life as well as that of characters Cecilia, Robbie and the Marshalls. In contrast to a statement by McEwan that Briony has atoned for her sins through her efforts in writing the novel, my findings show that it is impossible to argue that fictional amendments qualify for atonement; nor is there any absolution from a religious point of view. On one hand she has matured and reached insight of her inner self, but she does not use her knowledge to make amends. She is more interested in keeping her highly appraised position as a famous writer. The novel's metafictional method complicates this interpretation. McEwan's argument, that history and autobiography are both narrated chosen memories under the same rules, is in this case not applicable since the fictive author neglects facts and transmutes reality into fiction. Briony is from a realistic point of view to be judged as morally flawed and not atoned. It appears that reconciliation with the "self" or redemption are more suitable terms. Considering the characterization given by McEwan I find that Briony is faithful to her passion for storytelling but not taking responsibility for her crime. She rather changes the facts. As the fictive author of the novel she is not trustworthy when turning the full story into a mystery, not controllable, since she has decided to publish the novel after her death. Hereby she dictates the biographies of all involved

in Norrköping, Sweden, June 17-21, 2007
The International Conference on Thinking focuses on new ways of thinking across different disciplines such as: Arts, Business, Culture, Education, Health, Politics, Media, and Sports. It also emphasizes that innovation and creativity t may result in new concepts and practice that could lead to new ways of thinking about old problems. The challenge is to create societies that enhance thinking about social and environmental development as well as economic and cultural development.
The first Thinking Conference took place in 1982 at the University of the South Pacific, where the author Edward de Bono talked about “Lateral Thinking”. The Fiji seminar grew to become The First International Conference on Thinking with 250 participants from 42 universities. Over 1500 delegates attended The 12th International Conference on Thinking in Melbourne, July 4-8 2005.
At the 13th International Conference on Thinking in Norrköping there were over two hundred presenters covering a wide range of contents and presentation formats. Most of the sessions were parallel sessions giving delegates a choice from up to fourteen different presentations. There were 40 plenary and featured speakers, 26 presenters of peer reviewed research papers, and more than 110 other workshops and presentations. See Appendix over speeches and peer reviewed research papers. Many of the papers and presentations can also be found on the website http://www.liu.se/thinkingconference/

Transculturalism and Modernism in Leung Ping-kwan ́s writing
More than 45 million ethnic Chinese are settled outside China and about 20 % among them live in America. The aim of this study is to investigate how a Hong Kong writer in the diaspora has been influenced in his writing in a transcultural and modernist direction and in what way translation can be a part of transculturalism. In this study, the author 梁秉鈞 Leung Ping-kwan (1949-2013) has been selected as an example of this. The study is based on prose and lyrical texts by him. Studies of Chinese in the diaspora have long been neglected, but in recent years, Chinese American academics have begun research into Chinese diaspora literature from a transcultural perspective. This study aims to contribute to transcultural literary studies. In the study of Leung Ping-kwan ́s texts, a comparative literary analysis is used which is based on theories of identity and transculturalism. I argue that Leung Ping-kwan's writing is characterized by transcultural and modernist features.
Att vaka en begreppsanalytisk studie To watch a study of the concept
To watch over a sick or dying person is a common phrase and phenomenon used both by relatives and hospital staff. The aim of this study was to analyse the concept of watch and it's meaning for caring in the context of intensive care. The study was conducted in two steps. First an etymological and semantic analysis was conducted, in the second step, 35 persons, including 19 registered nurses undergoing a specialist training program in critical care and 16 persons representing the public were asked to write down their personal opinions about the meaning of the concept. A synthesis of the semantic analysis and the empirical study was made and finally a tentative meaning of the concept was formulated. To watch (over someone) is to be present by a person's side with attention, in the purpose of protecting the loved one from danger and to assist and help in presence of illness and/or dying. The person who watches can do it day or night and be a next of kin or a nurse. To watch means to be emotionally involved and your own needs are put aside in favour of the concern and care for the ill or dying person. ВАРЯЗЬКІ КНЯГИНІ ІНГІГЕРД І ГІТА ТА ІНШІ «НЕВИДИМІ» СКАНДИНАВКИ НА РУСІ
The article deals with the fate of Scandinavian women in Rus’ in the Viking Age. An attempt is made to fill the relevant gaps in the study of Old Rus’ relations with the countries of Northern Europe on the basis of archaeological data (women-owned Scandinavian items and burials in Old Rus’) and written monuments, which still remain out of the focus of most investigators. The figures of Varangian Grand Princesses Ingegerd Olofsdotter of Sweden and Gytha of Wessex, the consorts of Yaroslav the Wise and Vladimir Monomakh, which are practically unknown in Old Russian sources, were also considered together with their supposed role in the political and cultural life of Rus’ in the 11th–12th centuries. In addition, author paid attention to the persistent in sagas literary stereotype of a Scandinavian in Rus’ and his female version. Questions were raised about the legality of scientific judgment about the energy and independence of Scandinavian women in the context of the Old Russian history
