La rivisitazione del curriculo in ottica CLIL
The integration of CLIL programmes in the curriculum implies substantial choices that each teacher often performs individually, in the absence of ministerial directives that indicate which topics or contents to focus on. The present study aimed at investigating how CLIL teachers are addressing this need, what kind of factual selection they make both at the level of the disciplinary syllabus and at the level of the general curriculum, what guides their choices and what their motivations are. The objective of the research was to possibly identify commonalities that could sustain new CLIL teachers in their future curricular planning
Studenti internazionali in mobilità: la questione del lessico della conoscenza in italiano L2
Academic vocabulary is a key component in studying at university level for non-native international students of Italian as L2. In this paper first of all it will be discussed the notion of academic vocabulary and will be presented the lists created for Italian, e.g. the Lessico della Conoscenza and the Academic Italian Word List. It will be then introduced an experimental test, designed to assess the knowledge of academic vocabulary of students who are non-native speakers of Italian. The results of the first experimental administration of the test will be presented and discussed and it will be given an overview of possible suggestions for teaching and learning on the basis of the test results

Supporting the Switch to Teaching International Classes in Tertiary Education
The internationalisation process in European universities has increased since the Bologna declaration was signed in 1999, with many universities adopting English-Medium Instruction as a top-down strategy to improve the international profile of the institution. Against this background, a research and training centre in a university in the North of Italy has responded to requests from some academic staff for the enhancement of their preparation for teaching in English. The centre thus offers training modules on EMI teaching to international classes. Drawing on the data collected during the modules, and based on a questionnaire sent to 150 lecturers engaged in EMI in a variety of disciplines within the university, this paper reports on the attitudes of lecturers to teaching their subject in English and on adapting contents and teaching methods to international classes. The results reveal a variety of attitudes among lecturers and point to a need to change some teaching practices in relation to the syllabus as well as the type of assessment adopted. Moreover, there is a need to strike a balance between respecting cultural differences in international classes and connecting international students with the local culture
CLIL: il punto di vista degli studenti. Il caso della Lombardia
This paper aims to investigate the students’ perception about the implementation of the Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) methodology (D.P.R. 88 and 89/2010) in languages
other than English. The research focuses on students attending foreign languages and human sciences secondary schools in Lombardy. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected through a questionnaire focusing on the students’ perception of the CLIL learning environment in French, Spanish and German. Results outline CLIL reception in the first years of its implementation in Italy and highlight its strengths and weaknesses as they are perceived from the learners’ point of view
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Child Language Brokering: la percezione degli studenti di origine straniera e dei rispettivi insegnanti
In the last decades Italy has been undergoing large migratory waves and Italian schools have been reporting the highest numbers of multilingual students coming from immigrant families and speaking minority languages. These multilingual immigrant students may be asked to act as translators or mediators for their peers or family members who do not speak Italian fluently, thus contributing to the practice defined as Child Language Brokering (CLB). This paper will present the results of a research carried out during the school year 2014-15 in the province of Ravenna, among 27 teachers and 126 immigrant students attending four junior high schools. The aim of the study is to analyse by means of structured questionnaires whether multilingualism matches with language brokering experiences or not, to examine teachers’ opinions about this activity and the perspectives of those students who reported having acted as translators using their linguistic knowledge to help people understand each other
