*Acar, Musa ( Aksaray, Yazar )The main objective of the study was to deter- mine the structure of marketing, problems in mar- keting and to suggest solutions to the problems of carrot marketing. Primary data used in the research were gathered through personal interviews with the help of well-designed questionnaires from 73 carrot producer farms, 30 marketing channels' actors (broker/merchants) and 10 cold storage firms in Konya, Turkey. The surveyed samples were selected randomly. The data covered 2011 production season. Carrot marketing cost was calculated to be US$0.40 per kg; distributed as 69.39% of raw mate- rials, 11.7% broker commission, 8.89% transport costs, 7.04% packing, 3.39% labour and 0.22% other cost. For the carrot production, high input costs, difficulties in finding new markets, climatic conditions and delays or even failure in payment for product, were identified as the main problems. Regarding exports, to eliminate the complications at custom offices will ensure the sustainability of existing markets; and it should help to create new markets. National or international funds to support organizations and institutions involved could be provided for improvement of the sectors

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Yüksek Lisans TeziÇalışmamızda, Konya'da farklı ortamlarda çalışan fizyoterapistlerin mesleki doyumunun değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmamıza farklı alanlarda Konya'da çalışan 204 fizyoterapist katılmıştır. Çalışmamızın yönteminde çalışmaya katılan Fizyoterapistlerden Sosyodemografik ve Mesleki Beklentilere Yönelik Anket Formu ile Mesleki Doyum Ölçeğini doldurmaları istenmiştir. Mesleki doyum ölçeğindeki ortalama puan 67,22 ± 12,48 olarak bulunmuştur. Katılımcıların %61,3'ü (n = 125) 20-30 yaş aralığındadır Mesleki yetki ve görevlerde katılımcıların %71,1'i (n = 145) kanunda belirtilen mesleki yetki ve görevlerin yetersiz olduğunu düşünmektedir. Katılımcıların %60,8'i (n = 124) gelir düzeyini yetersiz bulmaktadır. In our study, it was aimed to evaluate the professional satisfaction of physiotherapists working in different settings in Konya. In our study, 204 physiotherapists working in different fields in Konya participated. In the method of our study, the physiotherapists participating in the study were asked to fill in the Questionnaire Form for Sociodemographic and Occupational Expectations and the Occupational Satisfaction Scale. The mean score in the occupational satisfaction scale was found to be 67.22 ± 12.48. 61.3% of the participants (n = 125) were between the ages of 20-30. Regarding professional powers and duties, 71.1% (n = 145) of the participants think that the professional powers and duties specified in the law are insufficient. 60.8% (n = 124) of the participants found their income level insufficient. There is a significant difference between marital status groups (t = -3,760, p = 0,000). Occupational satisfaction scale scores show a significant difference between the institutions (F = 3,689, p = 0,003). The mean score of those with occupational satisfaction was 48.60 ± 6.99, the mean score of those without satisfaction was 38.83 ± 7.95, and the scores of those with satisfaction were significantly higher (t = 8.406, p = 0.000). There is a significant difference in professional satisfaction scores between the groups stating that lack of professional autonomy affects professional performance (F = 3,835, p = 0,011). There is a significant difference in professional satisfaction scores between income groups (F = 2,753, p = 0,044). The mean score of those who did not think of leaving the profession was 73.14 ± 10.49, the mean score of those who thought of leaving the profession was 59.86 ± 10.76, and the scores of those who did not think of leaving the profession were significantly higher (t = -8.891, p = 0.000) (p<0.05). The mean professional satisfaction score of those who think that the profession affects health is 66,14 ± 12,22, the mean score of those who think that it does not affect health is 74,92 ± 11,83, and the scores of those who think that it does not affect health are significantly higher (t = -3,378, p = 0,001) (p<0.05). Occupational satisfaction of physiotherapists who participated in our study was found to be at a moderate level. The factors affecting the occupational satisfaction of physiotherapists working in Konya were found to be wage and lack of occupational autonomy. Occupational satisfaction of physiotherapists working in state institutions and private rehabilitation centres was found to be low. Being married, loving the profession, receiving a different education other than physiotherapist profession and the effects of physiotherapist profession on health were found to be related to professional satisfaction. We think that in order to increase professional satisfaction, first of all, inadequate professional authority and job descriptions should be reshaped, regulations that will provide professional autonomy should be made by the necessary institutions and the wage received should be satisfactory

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    Get PDF
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    koamabayili/VECTRON-author-checklist: VECTRON author checklist

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
