Characterization of geomagnetic parameters at different region / Rohana Abd Ghani
Geographical factors theoretically affect geomagnetic field variation due to the exposure to the sun's activities. Previous scientist says that the region that being exposed to the sun light for a period of time will experienced to the high ultraviolet light. Earth's magnetic field is approximately a magnetic dipole, with the magnetic field S pole near the earth's geographic North Pole and the other magnetic field N pole near the earth's geographic South Pole. Earth magnetic data can be measured by magnetometer, Magnetic Data Acquisition System (MAGDAS) and by certain measurement. For this project, earth magnetic field from 3 different regions; Manado (Indonesia) for' equatorial region, Onagawa (Japan) for northern region and Cooktovvn (Australia) for southern region are chosen to be analyzed. The analysis is based on the different parameters of MAGDAS data focusing H, and Z parameters. From the analysis, the earth magnetic polar at different region can be mapped and defined. The results are useful to give the regional magnetic data and also give a significant contribution of a new knowledge on our earth magnetic activities that are closely related to the space activities. The data are supplied by Space Environment Research Centre (SERC), Kyushu University Japan. Both parameters are monitored for one month on January and April 2006. This factor also should be considered in designing the radio communication and propagation technologies

Chemical characterization, antioxidant and inhibitory effects of some marine sponges against carbohydrate metabolizing enzymes
UNLABELLED: BACKGROUND: More than 15,000 marine products have been described up to now; Sponges are champion producers, concerning the diversity of products that have been found. Most bioactive compounds from sponges were classified into anti-inflammatory, antitumor, immuno- or neurosurpressive, antiviral, antimalarial, antibiotic, or antifouling. Evaluation of in vitro inhibitory effects of different extracts from four marine sponges versus some antioxidants indices and carbohydrate hydrolyzing enzymes concerned with diabetes mellitus was studied. The chemical characterizations for the extracts of the predominating sponges; SP1 and SP3 were discussed. METHODS: All chemicals served in the biological study were of analytical grade and purchased from Sigma, Merck and Aldrich. All kits were the products of Biosystems (Spain), Sigma Chemical Company (USA), Biodiagnostic (Egypt). Carbohydrate metabolizing enzymes; α-amylase, α-glucosidase, and β-galactosidase (EC3.2.1.1, EC3.2.1.20, and EC3.2.1.23, respectively) were obtained from Sigma Chemical Company (USA). RESULTS: Four marine sponges; Smenospongia (SP1), Callyspongia (SP2), Niphates (SP3), and Stylissa (SP4), were collected from the Red Sea at Egyptian coasts, and taxonomically characterized. The sponges' extracts exhibited diverse inhibitory effects on oxidative stress indices and carbohydrate hydrolyzing enzymes in linear relationships to some extent with concentration of inhibitors (dose dependant). The extracts of sponges (3, 1, and 2) showed, respectively, potent-reducing power. Purification and Chemical characterization of sponge 1 using NMR and mass spectroscopy, recognized the existence of di-isobutyl phthalate (1), di-n-butyl phthalate (2), linoleic acid (3), β-sitosterol (4), and cholesterol (5). Sponge 3 produced bis-[2-ethyl]-hexyl-phthylester (6) and triglyceride fatty acid ester (7). CONCLUSION: Marine sponges are promising sources for delivering of bioactive compounds. Four marine sponges, collected from Red Sea at Egyptian coasts, were identified as Smenospongia (SP1), Callyspongia (SP2), Niphates (SP3), and Stylissa (SP4). The results demonstrated that different sponges extracts exhibited inhibitory effects on oxidative stress indices and carbohydrate hydrolyzing enzymes in linear relationships to some extent with concentration of inhibitors (dose dependant). The extracts of sponges (3, 1, and 2) showed, respectively, potent-reducing power. Chemical characterizations of sponges SP1 and SP3 were discussed. Based on this study, marine sponges are considered as talented sources for production of diverse and multiple biologically active compounds
Tensile and bending analysis of simplified 3D woven fabric modelled with finite element analysis / Farah Amira Sulaiman, Suzaini Abd Ghani and Mohamad Faizul Yahya
This paper presented the modeling of simplified 3D woven fabric in tensile and bending behavior. The modeling technique used to simulate woven fabric using finite element analysis and incorporated with Abaqus software. 3D means that the woven fabric features in software having three dimensions which are horizontal, vertical, and depth (x, y, and z) dimensions. The simplified 3D woven fabric model is treated with various parameters on modulus and mesh size to study realistic stress-strain and force-displacement fields. Therefore, the important detailed FEA for modeling woven fabric requires setting geometric parameters such as dimension fabric structures, loads, pressure, boundary conditions to simulate the successful assumption on the mechanical performance of the fabric. The model is first used to simulate tensile and bending under various modulus. Each simulation shows the highest modulus give the higher stress and lowest strain for tensile simulation and higher force and lowest displacement for bending simulation. In a second step, different mesh size has been added to the model with the same modulus, show the smaller mesh size gives the accurate analysis. The prediction results of tensile and bending simulation presented in strain-stress and force-displacement curve, respectively based on modulus and mesh size
Conflict of law and the methodology of Tarjīẖ : a study in Islamic legal theory
Islamic law never achieved unity but expressed itself in, at least, four surviving schools. More interestingly, contemporary Muslim communities are still divided among themselves on a number of issues related to their laws. This work describes how problem of legal conflicts have been tackled by Muslim jurists. It is an attempt to examine closely the phenomenon of conflict in Islamic law from the standpoint of usūl-al-fiqh or Islamic legal theory. In fact, much is heard nowadays of the contradiction in the body of Islamic law. Whilst in contrast, little is presented in terms of the methodology of removing this conflict. The present work therefore, attempts to redress this balance. The emphasis of the work will be concerned primarily with tarjīh methodology ; how to give preference to one piece of evidence or argument over the other when they conflict. Nevertheless, considerable concern is given to investigating the background to the conflict of law in the Shari'ah.
This study of a neglected area in Islamic legal scholarship will be an important source of reference to students, both practising and theoretical jurists or to anyone who merely wishes to increase his knowledge of legal themes, particularly legal conflict. The very aim of the work is to argue that conflict is a natural and unavoidable consequence of legal study because legal conflict is only conflicting principles and arguments adduced by both the classical and modern jurists to reach what is actually intended by God in the target case. Therefore, conflicts are inevitable in most of the cases in fiqh owing to the variety of principles set out to deal with one piece of legal evidence, let alone with all the pieces of legal evidence in question.
Tarjīh is therefore, an important and workable instrument in the re-examination of these conflicts and in arriving at the most accurate principle for establishing the law for as long as this is possible. It is hoped that the discovery of new facts and the increase of knowledge which results from the broadening and deepening of the research will positively contribute to the process of unification of Islamic law
Effect of maternal voice on physiological and behavioral measures in premature infants : a randomized controlled trial
Introduction
Preterm infants lose significant contact with their mothers during prenatal development and nursed in hospital environment that exposed them to elevated stimulus from NICU environment. They are not only deprived from the protective properties of womb, they also remain in an enclosed incubator where touching and sensory stimulation are restricted which possibly a critical aspect for normal development, that is the mother’s voice
Objective
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of maternal voice vs NICU environmental sounds on physiological and behavioral measures in premature infants.
Method
This is a parallel randomized control trial conducted in NICU Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar from June 2015 to Nov 2015. This study involved all premature infants with corrected gestational age 27-35 weeks who is already on full feeding and nursed in incubator. All subjects were randomized into two groups that are Intervention and Control. Their mother will be asked to sing appropriate lullabies that will be recorded for 10 minute duration.
Infants were randomly assigned to one of two groups. Infants in the Control group received routine NICU nursing care. Infants in the Intervention group received routine NICU care as well as 10 minutes of exposure to their mothers recorded voice every day.
for 14 days. Infants in the two groups were evaluated and observed for 30 minutes every day for 14 days. Heart rates, respiratory rates and oxygen saturation levels as displayed on the monitor were recorded every minute for 30 minutes. Behavioral score (BIIP) was measured at every 10 minute. Weight gain was measured every other day by a standardized digital weight scale. Infants were evaluated during 3 phases: 10 minute baseline, 10 minute intervention and 10 minute post intervention.
Result
A total of 138 patients completed the study. There was significant reduction of mean heart rate over time [F=5.071, p0.05]. There was no significant changes of Behavioral Indicator of Infant Pain profile (BIIP) with regard to time [Z = -0.31, -0.36, -0.65 P >0.05].
Conclusion
This study showed that exposure to mother’s voice had positive effect on premature infant’s heart rate, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation while no changes on mean weight gain and behavioral score with no adverse reaction noted during intervention
Effect of polyethylene-grafted maleic anhydride (PE-g-MAH) on properties of low density polyethylene/eggshell powder (LDPE/ESP) composites

LDPE/ESP composites with different eggshell powder content and the addition of PE-g-MAH were prepared with Z-blade mixer at 180°C and rotor speed of 50 rpm. The tensile strength, elongation at break and thermal stability of LDPE/ESP composites with PE-g-MAH were greater than LDPE/ESP composites, and their differences became more pronounced at higher filler content. The interfacial adhesion between ESP and LDPE was improved with the addition of PE-g-MAH as evidenced by the morphological study

This thesis comprises eight chapters, and the introduction and conclusion. The introduction reviews the relevant literature on the topic. The first chapter describes the geographical setting and provides a historical background,
relating to three principal matters: the rise of the Iba<;liyyah and the development of the Imamate in Oman; the events in Oman after Sd. Sa'id's death up to 1913; and the effects of the First World War. The second chapter seeks to give an account of the career of Imam Salim's life and the Imamate revival. The third chapter discusses the manner in
which the Imam was elected, private and public allegiance (bay'ah) and the Imam's aims and policy programme. Chapter Four deals with the Imam's military operations and the
spread of his authority over Oman. Chapter Five examines the attempts at negotiation between the Imam and the Sultan, and the role of the British Government and the local
figures in this regard. Chapter Six is devoted to a discussion of the role of the tribes in support of Imam Salim, and the extent of the Imam's influence over these tribes. Chapter Seven assesses the Imam's administrative machinery, including the political system, the bureaucracy, education policy, and financial apparatus. In the conclusion, we present the findings of the research as they have emerged from the assessment of the course of events in Oman. We have said that the Omanis succeeded in reviving the Imamate and elected Imam Salim al-KharU~i who devoted his efforts to establish the foundations of the state, and peace prevailed in the country after the treaty of

Zorotypus in Peninsular Malaysia (Zoraptera: Zorotypidae), with the description of three new species
Three new species of the uncommonly encountered insect order Zoraptera are described and figured from Peninsular Malaysia—Zorotypus magnicaudelli sp. n., Zorotypus cervicornis sp. n., and Zorotypus impolitus sp. n. Another species from the region, identified as Zorotypus caudelli Karny, 1927, was also collected and is reevaluated herein based on new material. A brief discussion of characters used in zorapteran systematics is provided, and a key to the species of Peninsular Malaysia provided. This is the first report for the order Zoraptera from Peninsular Malaysia
An Enhanced Inverter Controller for PV Applications Using the dSPACE Platform
This paper presents the simulation modeling and prototype development of an inverter controller for photovoltaic (PV) applications using the dSPACE DS1104 controller platform. The controller platform can link the simulation model developed in the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment to its prototype hardware. In the dSPACE controller, the voltage regulator controls the inverter by employing a proportional integral (PI) controller and the Park transformation method to generate sinusoidal pulse-width modulation (SPWM) signals. The SPWM signals switch the insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) to stabilize the 50-Hz sinusoidal AC output voltages of the inverter. The simulation was performed with a DC power supply that acts as the PV generator to supply the power to the inverter. The simulation model was then translated into the inverter prototype using the dSPACE platform and tested in the laboratory to prove the efficacy of the proposed controller. The experimental results for the inverter system demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed control strategy by maintaining the THD of the output voltage at 4.6%
