    On the international level, heritage is considered an essential element for the sustainable development of a country. In South Asian countries such as Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, historic cities struggle to preserve their built heritage, due to rapid urbanisation and changing contemporary urban and architectural requirements. This contribution elaborates on the effects of urbanisation, and city development on the protected heritage of Karachi, Pakistan. The city developed in the 19th century from a mud-fortified small town along the Lyari river to become one of the busiest ports of the Indian subcontinent under British rule. Karachi has now become a metropolitan city with more than sixteen million inhabitants. Due to the accelerated rate of urbanisation and trade activities, Karachi has become Pakistan’s economic capital, resulting in the oblivion of its historical sites. Most of the city’s historic sites are in a state of dereliction, from over- or under-programming, or even under the threat of demolition. The paper focuses on the present condition of a British-era protected-heritage site through a literature review and fieldwork (mapping, drawing, archival research, interviews, photographic surveys, etc.), carried out during 2019 and 2020. The first author conducted site visits to photograph buildings and interview their users to gather feedback on how they perceive the current state of these buildings. The data were analysed to investigate how many buildings from Karachi’s British era with protected status have been demolished or are at risk of demolition. At the heart of the article is the Saddar Bazar Quarter in Karachi and its historical, social, cultural, and economic importance in the city from the British period until the present. The analysis will lead the discussion on what potential these sites/buildings hold, and how to make their preservation possible and withstand the uncurbed urbanisation and the threat of land development. Through discussion, we will focus on the social, cultural and economic aspects which the area and the buildings from the British period hold, and which can be useful in the future for the continuation of the Saddar Bazaar Quarter (SBQ), the historic urban landscape (HUL) and the heritage buildings

    Writer Identification Using Microblogging Texts for Social Media Forensics

    Establishing authorship of online texts is fundamental to combat cybercrimes. Unfortunately, text length is limited on some platforms, making the challenge harder. We aim at identifying the authorship of Twitter messages limited to 140 characters. We evaluate popular stylometric features, widely used in literary analysis, and specific Twitter features like URLs, hashtags, replies or quotes. We use two databases with 93 and 3957 authors, respectively. We test varying sized author sets and varying amounts of training/test texts per author. Performance is further improved by feature combination via automatic selection. With a large amount of training Tweets (&gt;500), a good accuracy (Rank-5&gt;80%) is achievable with only a few dozens of test Tweets, even with several thousands of authors. With smaller sample sizes (10-20 training Tweets), the search space can be diminished by 9-15% while keeping a high chance that the correct author is retrieved among the candidates. In such cases, automatic attribution can provide significant time savings to experts in suspect search. For completeness, we report verification results. With few training/test Tweets, the EER is above 20-25%, which is reduced to &lt; 15% if hundreds of training Tweets are available.     OCCLUDED RED BLOOD CELLS SPLITTING VIA BOUNDARIES ANALYSIS AND LINES DRAWING IN MICROSCOPIC THIN BLOOD SMEAR DIGITAL IMAGES

    Occluded Red Blood Cells are observed frequently in the thin blood smear digital images. Separating the occluded Red Blood Cells from the single Red Blood Cells and further the splitting of occluded Red Blood Cells into single Red Blood Cells is a challenging job in the computer assisted diagnosis of blood for any disorder in many diseases like Complete Blood Count Test, Anemia, Leukemia and Malaria etc. The mentioned problem is also highly laborious in manual microscopy for the hematologist. Many techniques currently existed for the solution but suffered from both under and over splitting problems when highly complex occlusions of Red Blood Cells occurred. Also the existed techniques are not computationally efficient. In this, paper we address the mentioned problems in realistic, efficient and automated way by considering the boundaries of the occluded Red Blood Cells through convex hulls to divide the boundaries on the basis of distance calculation in a very simple and efficient way split the occlusions according to the number of Red Blood Cells. Further, we draw lines using Digital differential analyzer graphics line drawing algorithm at the two respective end points to give cuts to split the occluded Red Blood Cell. The test results of the proposed technique using standard online data set of thin blood smear digital images (provided by Centers of diseases Control and prevention, USA) are presented in this paper by qualitatively analysis through ground truth with visual inspection

    PENYALAHGUNAAN IZIN TINGGAL OLEH WARGA NEGARA INDIA DI INDONESIA: Misuse of Residence Permit by Indian Nationals in Indonesia

    Restrictions on the activities of foreigners in Indonesia are intended to prevent immigration violations, such as misusing visas or residence permits. The misuse of residence permits of two foreign nationals (WNA) from India named Mohammad Zaffer Syed and Syed Naveed violated Law No. 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration by carrying out activities contrary to their limited stay permits. The identification problems of this research are: how the immigration action against the abuse of residence permits by the Indian foreigner is, and whether the immigration action against the two WNAs is in accordance with Law No. 6 of 2011 concerning immigration. The article is a normative legal research, descriptive in nature, using secondary data, then analyzed qualitatively, and the conclusion is drawn deductively. The research and conclusion of this research shows that foreigners from India named Mohammad Zaffer Syed and Syed Naveed Abbas are proven to have misused their residence permit and violated Article 122 letter a of Law No. 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration, and were sentenced to five months imprisonment and a fine of IDR 500,000,000.  with the provision that if the fine is not paid, it will be changed to one-month imprisonment

    A Survey: Online and mobile banking risks, security issues and challenges on mobile devices and its user awareness

    With the growing use of mobile devices, it is a known fact that more people use internet from mobile devices than the conventional desktop PCs. Specifically, mobile devices are gaining popularity and with ease of availability its usage is a global phenomenon, creating a market and eco system of its own. Similarly online and mobile banking facilities have made a mark of its own, as consumers can now easily access their financial information from anywhere in the world and commit transactions without physically being present in financial institution of their choice. Combining the above two technologies opens a new arena of challenges, where a balance of functionality and security is to be carefully considered. Using online and mobile banking systems from mobile devices, either via browser or mobile business application, both the consumer and the institution are required to adopt a paradigm shift with respect to understanding the risks and required controls to mitigate those risks. In this research we attempted to study security issues and risks related to mobile devices faced by the banking industry, more particularly, mobile banking. Further, we shall look into the current trends, future challenges and solutions available in order to secure the communication between mobile devices and business application and how they can be mitigated. Furthermore, we will conduct a survey within the banking industry to understand the current security mechanisms adopted by these institutions. Moreover, consumer awareness, their thought process and views related to security threats shall be studied to identify their understanding of the risks and challenges and their comfort level while using mobile devices for financial transactions

    Accurate red blood cells automatic counting in microscopic thin blood smear digital images

    The aim of this study is to automate the counting process of Red Blood Cells in thin Blood smear images in more accurate, efficient and universal way. The Red Blood Cells have important role in the blood; their counting is part of the complete blood count test and is frequently suggested by the Physician because the Red Blood Cells have hemoglobin, responsible to carry oxygen to various tissues of the body.. The number of Red Blood Cells both (Low and High) deviations from normal range is an important indicator about any disorder existence in the body. At present mostly the counting process is performed manually which is laborious, error prone and time consuming. The automated diagnosing gain the attention of the researchers from the last two decades because it assist the experts to reduce the burden of errors, labor and time of examination. In this regard, too much research has been performed on the automation of the counting process of the Red Blood Cells but still the test demands to be done in a proper, efficient, accurate and realistic way. The proposed method achieved an average True Positive Rate (TPR) of 94%, True Negative Rate (TNR) of 6%, average accuracy of 97% and average error rate of 3%
