The Impact of Nano and Microstructure on the Stability of Perovskite Solar Cells

Small. 2018;14(46): 1802573.Halide perovskites have emerged recently as a promising candidate for the next generation of photovoltaics. Power conversion efficiencies for laboratory-scale devices surpass those of established technologies, such as multicrystalline silicon. However, perovskite solar cells lose their initial efficiency rapidly due to the convolution of several degradation factors, which hinder the process of industrialization. In this review, the important role of the nano- and microstructure of the perovskite layer in the performance and stability of the device are discussed. The defects located predominantly at the grain boundaries within the perovskite film and at the interface of the perovskite with the other materials can compromise the devices' stability. Thus, lowering the surface and interface concentration of defects is a key approach toward long-term stable perovskite solar cells
Avaliação do tempo de jejum dos suínos no pré-abate sobre a ocorrência de estômagos cheios

Curso de Zootecnia.O Brasil é o quarto maior exportador de carne suína do mundo e está entre os maiores produtores de suínos. Com este potencial produtivo, tem-se a preocupação com a qualidade da carne produzida, para atender os mercados mais exigentes. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a relação entre o tempo de jejum e a quantidade de estômagos cheios após a evisceração dos suínos. O mesmo foi realizado na região meio oeste do estado de Santa Catarina, em parceria com uma agroindústria de grande expressão no mercado nacional e mundial de carnes. Foi avaliado o tempo de jejum, a vazão e a temperatura da água de consumo na propriedade; o tempo de carregamento e o de transporte dos suínos; e a quantidade de estômagos cheios após o abate. Os tempos de jejum nas propriedades avaliadas foram de 6, 8, 10 e 12 horas, sendo dois monitoramentos em instalações com comedouros semi-automáticos e um monitoramento em instalações com comedouros lineares para cada tempo de jejum. Observou-se que os animais que tiveram tempos de jejum na propriedade de 6 e 8 horas apresentaram estômagos cheios, já os animais com os tempos de jejum de 10 e 12 horas, não apresentaram este problema.Brazil is the fourth largest exporter of pork in the world and is among the largest producers of pigs. With this productive potential, there is concern about the quality of meat produced to meet the most demanding markets. This work aims to evaluate the relationship between fasting time and the amount of full stomachs after evisceration of pigs. The same was done in the midwestern region of the state of Santa Catarina, in partnership with a large agricultural industry to the national and global meat market. Time of fasting has been reported, flow and water temperature on the property; the time of loading and transportation of the pigs; and the number of full stomachs after slaughter. The times of fasting in the evaluated properties were 6, 8, 10 and 12 hours, with two replications in installations with automatic feeders and a repetition in installations with linear time for each fast feeders. It was observed that the animals which had fasted times the property 6 and 8 hours were filled stomachs, since the animals with the fasting times of 10 and 12 hours did not show this problem
New Advances in Metal Halide Perovskites

A fundamental understanding of photoinduced processes through experimental and machine-learning tools provides valuable insights into achieving the long-term stability of perovskite solar cells. This Spotlight highlights design rules for single-crystal perovskite solar cells and predicting optical behavior of perovskites through machine learning. The photoinduced halide segregation in 2D perovskites is another area that needs to be considered while designing 2D/3D architecture for perovskite solar cells

Main Text (Joule 1, 659–664; December 20, 2017) In the originally published version of this article, the author wrote that CdTe solar cells benefit from an exception of the “Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment” (RoHS). In reality, any solar cell technologies benefit from an exemption of the RoHS. Thus, a potential perovskite solar cells technology is currently allowed in the European energy market. Photovoltaic solar cells are only one of the technologies that could be exploiting the potential of perovskites soon. Stability and toxicity are two critical aspects of photovoltaic applications because of the long-lasting lifetime and large volumes of the targeted technologies, such as multijunction solar cells with high power conversion efficiency. In this Perspective piece, I discuss how stability and toxicity can be addressed now, incentivizing the research toward lead-free and low-lead formulations. Recent works demonstrated that tin is a possible way out of the toxicity and stability issues of current perovskite formulations. I give speculative directions for stable tin-based perovskite solar cells
