Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. The objective of the research were (1) to find out whether or not the use of hot potatoes can effect in learning vocabulary, and (2) to find out the students perception towards the use of hot potatoes in learn vocabulary.
The researcher applied mixed method namely quantitative-qualitative. The population were 107 students of junior high school, SMP Buq’atun Mubarakah in Makassar. The sample was VIII A2 and VIII A3 which consist of 70 students. This research used two kind of instruments they were test and interview.
The result of the qualitative data through interview showed that (1) the use of hot potatoes improve the students achievements. It was identified by seeing the result of vocabulary test in which the mean score of post test was higher than the mean score of pre test. The vocabulary test result if class VIII A2 , mean score of pre test 68.63>55.88 of class VIII A3. Based on the result of data analysis, the researcher concluded that: the application of hot potatoes program was effective to stimulate the students’ engagement; using hot potatoes improved the students’ vocabulary test achievement and the students had good perception towards the used of hot potatoes program in teaching vocabulary.

65,20 menjadi 67,20. Rata-rata nilai motivasi belajar awal siswa pada kelas
eksperimen meningkat dari 62,55 menjadi 71,77. Besar peningkatan motivasi
belajar matematika siswa kelas eksperimen setelah diberikan perlakuan penelitian
sebesar 6,80%. Rata-rata nilai hasil belajar siswa pada kelas kontrol meningkat dari
29,23 menjadi 41,33. Rata-rata nilai hasil belajar siswa pada kelas eksperimen
meningkat dari 34,61 menjadi 61,48. Besar peningkatan hasil belajar matematika
siswa kelas eksperimen setelah diberikan perlakuan penelitian sebesar 48,75%.

bahasa internasional yang banyak digunakan di dunia saat ini, oleh karena itu
sudah banyak aplikasi yang dapat membantu belajar bahasa Inggris, namun masih
banyak orang yang salah mengucapkan kosakata bahasa Inggris yang benar,
karena itu dirancang sebuah aplikasi belajar pengucapan kosakata bahasa Inggris
berbasis smartphone android, maka pengguna dapat belajar bahasa Inggris secara
digital dengan mudah kapanpun dan dimanapun. Karena tujuan utama aplikasi
untuk melatih pengucapan kosakata bahasa Inggris, maka pada penelitian ini
diusulkan aplikasi android dengan menerapkan voice recognition yakni
menggunakan Application programing interface (API) text to speech dan speech to
text. Aplikasi dibuat dengan bahasa pemrograman java, database SQLite dan API
google text to speech dan speech to text. Pengembangan aplikasi menggunakan
metode prototyping karena aplikasi diharapkan sesuai dengan kebutuhan calon
pengguna dan cara belajar yang diterapkan pada aplikasi telah sesuai untuk
melatih pengucapan kosakata bahasa Inggris. Pengujian aplikasi menggunakan
pengujian requirement validation testing dengan hasil 100% valid, usability testing
dengan hasil system usability score 85 yang berarti aplikasi layak digunakan dan
pengujian implementasi akurasi google speech API dengan tingkat akurasi 100%
dengan syarat pengucapan dari pengguna haruslah jelas dan tidak terlalu cepa
Evaluasi Program Studi Alquran Intensif (SAINS) di Universitas Negeri Makassar
Get PDFHasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa konteks SAINS telah terpenuhi
dengan 4 sebab pelaksanaan SAINS di UNM, yaitu: membantu dosen agama,
meningkatkan kemampuan mengaji, memberantas buta baca Alquran, dan menjaga
semangat membaca Alquran bagi mahasiswa. Evaluasi input menunjukkan bahwa
butuh perbaikan pada beberapa bagian perencaan SAINS terkait pembuatan
kurikulum, rekruitmen tutor, kehadiran peserta, dana dan sarpras. Evaluasi proses menunjukkan bahwa SAINS terlaksana dengan baik yaitu berjalannya semua
rangkaian kegiatan SAINS. Terakhir evaluasi produk menunjukkan bahwa ada
peningkatan kemampuan membaca Alquran pada mahasiswa yang ikut dalam
SAINS Tatap Muka/Intensif. Hasil penelitian ini melahirkan rekomendasi stategis yang dapat ditempuh dalam perbaikan SAINS UNM, yaitu; membangun komunikasi dengan dosen agama yang kurang kooperatif dengan pelaksanaan SAINS, membuat rancangan kurikulum dan pelaksanaan pembelajaran, menambah tutor, mencari dana, dan menentukan buku pembelajaran Alquran untuk SAIN
