REGISTROS DE LORICARIIDAE (TELEOSTEI, SILURIFORMES) NO RIO VERDE, MATO GROSSO DO SUL, BACIA DO ALTO RIO PARANÁ
No full textThe family Loricariidae is the most diverse among freshwater Siluriformes in the Neotropical region, with 1,241 valid species recorded. They are characterized by the body covered with bony plates and a ventrally positioned, sucker-shaped mouth. In the upper Paraná River basin, 75 native species are registered. In this study, we present the list of Loricariidae species recorded so far in the Rio Verde basin, a right-bank tributary of the Paraná River, based on material deposited in the Ichthyological Collection of Três Lagoas (CITL) or stored in the Ichthyology Laboratory of UFMS/Três Lagoas Campus, as well as records in ichthyological collections available through the SpeciesLink platform. A total of 20 species were recorded, belonging to the subfamilies Hypostominae (14 species), Loricariinae (3), and Hypoptopomatinae (3). Most are native to the upper Paraná River basin, with the exception of four species. In the UFMS specimens, mean total length ranged from 2.8 to 46.7 cm, with the largest sizes corresponding to Hypostominae. Two species were identified only to the genus (Hypostomus), one of them possibly a new species. The specimens occurred in rivers and streams of the basin, with only one capture in a marginal lake, confirming the preference of the species for lotic environments and firm substrate. None of the recorded species is currently at risk of extinction according to ICMBio; however, attention is drawn to the risk that anthropic activities causing siltation, destruction of riparian vegetation, or changes in the hydrodynamics of rivers and streams may negatively affect the maintenance of Loricariidae species in the basin. The results obtained reinforce the need for new surveys in order to expand knowledge about the abundance of species of the family in the Rio Verde basin, in addition to highlighting the importance of ichthyological collections for documenting species records.A família Loricariidae é a mais diversa entre os siluriformes de água doce da região Neotropical, com registro de 1.241 espécies válidas. Caracterizam-se pelo corpo recoberto por placas e a boca em posição ventral, em forma de ventosa. Na bacia do alto rio Paraná são registradas 75 espécies nativas. Neste estudo apresentamos a relação de espécies da família Loricariidae registradas até o momento na bacia do Rio Verde, afluente da margem direita do Rio Paraná, a partir de material tombado na Coleção Ictiológica de Três Lagoas (CITL) ou armazenadas no Laboratório de Ictiologia da UFMS/Câmpus de Três Lagoas, e de registros em coleções ictiológicas, por meio da plataforma SpeciesLink. Obteve-se o registro de 20 espécies, pertencentes às subfamílias Hypostominae (14 espécies), Loricariinae (3) e Hypoptopomatinae (3). A maioria é nativa da bacia do alto rio Paraná, com exceção de quatro espécies. Nos exemplares da UFMS o comprimento total médio variou entre 2,8 e 46,7 cm, com os maiores portes relacionados a Hypostominae. Duas espécies foram identificadas até gênero (Hypostomus), sendo uma delas possivelmente uma nova espécie. Os exemplares ocorreram em rios e riachos da bacia, com apenas uma captura em lagoa marginal, confirmando a preferência das espécies por ambientes lóticos e substrato firme. Nenhuma das espécies registradas encontra-se sob risco de extinção, segundo o ICMBio; no entanto, alerta-se para o risco de que atividades antrópicas que provoquem assoreamento, destruição de vegetação ripária ou mesmo alterações na hidrodinâmica de rios e riachos possam contribuir negativamente para a manutenção de espécies de Loricariidae na bacia. Os resultados obtidos reforçam a necessidade de novos levantamentos, a fim de ampliar o conhecimento sobre a abundância de espécies da família na bacia do rio Verde, além de ressaltar a importância das coleções ictiológicas para o registro das espécies
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
