Abstract : Intending to delineate the way the Italian writer Alessandro Baricco has been inserted in the Brazilian literary system and the paths his translated books have followed, this thesis gives voice to the translating experiences of his translators. Baricco's insertion in Brazil began in 1997, through a personal project of Dr. Roberta Barni, with her translation of Oceano Mare. Since then, seven other of his works have been published in Brazil, three of which were translated by Roberta Barni and the other four by four different translators. On the one hand, the translator is considered as the main figure in mediation betweencultures and, on the other, this figure's reality is analyzed within theliterary system: its invisibility, its limits and its professional practice. Criticisms and reviews of this Italian author published in well established Brazilian newspapers are also considered, with the understanding that they are part of Baricco's image reflected here

E no quinto e último capítulo, temos as 'Considerações conclusivas'. The present research aims at clarifying three major issues of Machiavelli's and Montesquieu's political theory, namely power, passion, and corruption. These three elements are necessarily present and intertwined in politics. In addition, it will try to relate and compare to each other the political theory of these two thinkers. In order to develop and attain such goals, we organize the text in five chapters, plus the introduction that addresses briefly the theoretical problem we want to treat in the dissertation as well as the references, which indicates the theoretical sources for the construction of our arguments in the text. In the first chapter, 'About Machiavelli & Montesquieu', we offer a brief presentation of some important points of the life and theory of Machiavelli and Montesquieu. In the second chapter, 'About power', our first theoretical topic, i.e. power is discussed. We first analyze separately the concept of power in Machiavelli and Montesquieu and then compare the ideas of both thinkers, be they conflicting or not. The third chapter, 'About passions', is about the passions, which are inherent to politics according both to Machiavelli and Montesquieu. In the fourth chapter, 'About corruption', we concentrate on corruption, which our authors discuss through the example of Rome. And in the fifth and last chapter, we offer our "conclusive considerations". Even if we have made some considerations and comparisons already in previous chapters, in the fifth chapter the focus will be on congruencies and differences between Machiavelli and Montesquieu, as well on our conclusions about our reading of these exciting and important thinkers, Machiavelli and Montesquieu

This article deals with the methods used by the director José Padron in creating an artistic documentary featuring the well-known Cuban composer-guitarist Leo Brouwer (Leo Brouwer, 35mn, 2000, co-produced by the ICAIC and the SGAE). Analyzing the making of this hour-long documentary takes into account the director's previous documentaries as well as a personal interview granted by the author in February 2003 in Havana. By using the "Dogma Documentary of Havana", which brings together many aspects of Cuban reality and of the personality of Leo Brouwer, we can perceive that in his musical creations there exists a strong relationship between the impulses of life, Cuban culture and history, and also other artistic expressions springing from cinema, dance and painting.

In a cellular context that allows in vitro EBV activation and lytic cycle progression through mechanisms closely resembling those that in vivo initiate and enable productive infection, we found that RV inhibited EBV lytic genes expression and the production of viral particles in a dose-dependent manner

Analysis of Graph-based User Scheduling For Ka-Band LEO NTN Systems

This work focuses on the next generations of multi-beam (MB) Low Earth Orbit (LEO) based NonTerrestrial Network (NTN) architectures that exploit full spectrum reuse schemes and effective interference management techniques by employing user scheduling before precoding at the transmit side. Given a high density of user terminals (UTs) on-ground as compared to on-board LEO satellite antennas it is extremely challenging to schedule users. To improve the performance, optimal user scheduling is necessary. In this paper, we present the analysis of graph-based user scheduling algorithms for Ka-band, with a focus on feed space (FS), downlink (DL), and Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) mode. We propose both a distance-based iterative graph-based approach and a distance-based implementation of the Multiple Antenna Downlink Orthogonal User Clustering (MADOC) algorithm. Instead of considering the Coefficient of Correlation (CoC) as a dissimilarity measure to organize users into clusters, we consider the great circle distance between the users as a dissimilarity metric. Once users are organized into clusters, they are served by the LEO satellite using Space Division Multiplexing (SDM) through Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) beamforming applied per cluster. Subsequently, these clusters are allocated to different time slots using Time Division Multiplexing (TDM). To validate the effectiveness of our presented approach, we conduct a comparative analysis with the original Channel State Information (CSI)-based MADOC algorithm which is based on the CoC. The results are presented in terms of the achievable per-user throughput (Mbps), and signal-to-noise plus interference ratio (SINR). By considering user scheduling and beamforming together, this study provides valuable insights into the effective use of resources in LEO MB-NTN systems
