This article is about the settlement process in the interior space of the Chaco National Territory in Argentina, a phenomenon that resulted from the colonizing process and the cotton growing peak because these two events occurred simultaneously from the 1920’s. Oscar Lewis, Urban Poverty, and The Children of Sánchez

Revolutionary leaders favored depictions of Mexico City in the mid-20th century that highlighted the progress and orderly growth of a modern industrial city. The ruling party made Mexico City the focus of post–World War II development policies and the showcase for the success of those policies in achieving the new goals of the Mexican Revolution during a period of sustained economic growth known as the “Mexican miracle.” When, in the early 1960s, the American anthropologist Oscar Lewis published The Children of Sánchez, his popular study of urban poverty, and turned the public’s attention away from the sites that underscored the official narrative of orderly industrial growth, it incited a heated public debate in Mexico City. The book contained the oral histories of a family living in the low-income neighborhood of Tepito, in the center of the capital, and was a shocking account, told in their own words, of a family’s attempt to survive urban life. Supporters of the modernizing policies of federal officials and the capital’s mayor, Ernesto Uruchurtu, attacked the book in the press and even filed formal complaints with Mexico’s attorney general demanding that the book and its author be banned from the country and the publisher reprimanded. They claimed that the book was too vulgar for public consumption and called it a foreigner’s attack on the reputation of the country and the city. Critics of the Institutional Revolutionary Party used the publicity generated by the attacks to open up a dialog about the marginalized people left behind by urban development and engaged in the debates as a safe way to express its own concerns about Uruchurtu’s inhumane development policies and the government’s insistence on hiding reality to present the city to the international community as a modern showcase.</p

"A voracious reader and prolific and prolific writer, Alfredo is the great disseminator, for the field of education, of Foucault's thought in Latin America, since, without a doubt, there is no other intellectual in our continent who has dedicated a significant part of his professional life to interpret and spread the thought of the French philosopher. The work of disseminating the thought of an author is an activity that enriches and energizes an academic community. Alfredo's reading and interpretation of Foucault not only gave rise to a new field of academic work in Brazil, the “Foucauldian studies in education”, but also contributed to its consolidation and its extension to other countries on the continent. Although all academic activity benefits, in the first place, its author, the disclosure has the particularity of being explicitly directed to others; it is made for the others, depending on the others, the possible readers, a more or less determined public to which one wants to inform or train.

PhDThe object of this thesis is to reach towards an understanding of Cuban society through a study of its detective fiction and more particularly contemporary Cuban society through the novels of the author and critic, Leonardo Padura Fuentes. The method has been to trace the development of Cuban detective writing and to read Padura Fuentes in the light of the work of twentieth century Western European literary critics and philosophers including Raymond Williams, Antonio Gramsci, Terry Eagleton, Roland Barthes, Jean Paul Sartre, Michel Foucault, Jean François Lyotard and Jean Baudrillard in order to gain a better understanding of the social and historical context from which this genre emerged. By concentrating on the literary texts, I have explored readings which lead out into an analysis of the broader philosophical, political and historical issues raised by the Cuban revolution. Since it deals primarily with modes of deviance and notions of legality and justice within the context of the modern state, detective fiction is particularly well suited to this type of investigation. The intention is to show how this is as valid in the Cuban context as it is in advanced capitalist societies where such research has already been carried out with some success. The thesis comprises an introduction, ten chapters and a conclusion. The chapters are divided into three sections. Chapters 1 to 3 attempt a broad theoretical, historical and socio-political analysis of the cultural reality within which the Cuban revolutionary detective genre emerged. Chapters 4 to 6 analyse the Cuban detective narrative from its inception in the early part of the twentieth century until the emergence of Leonardo Padura Fuentes as the foremost exponent of the genre in Cuba after 1991. Chapters 7- 10 concentrate upon the work of Leonardo Padura Fuentes, offering a reading of his detective tetralogy informed by the preceding discussion. The contribution made by the thesis to knowledge of the subject is to build upon the work of Seymour Menton and Amelia S. Simpson on the development of the Cuban detective novel and to provide analyses of the pre-Revolutionary Cuban detective narrative and the work of Leonardo Padura Fuentes for the first time in the English language. The thesis concludes that the study of this popular genre in Cuba is of crucial importance to the scholar who wishes to reach as full an understanding of the social dynamics within that society as possible. In particular, it proves that Cuban detective fiction provides a useful barometer of social change which records the shifts in the Cuban Zeitgeist that have taken place over the past century

The use of methodological frameworks in project management in the information and technology sector is important for the good professional practice, as well as the determination of the factors that lead to the success of the projects; in this work, success factors are identified, particularly in the use of PMBok or Scrum. The process of identifying the success factors was carried out in several stages, in which a model of factors was refined; first, the starting point was the study of bibliographic sources on the subject, from which 300 success factors were obtained, which were standardized into 21 most important factors, and then compared with the PMBok and Scrum frameworks. Second, the literature was consulted to find other candidate success factors, so that sustainability, hybridization and completeness factors were added. Third, as an exception to the literature base, 18 empirical factors proposed by the author were added to the model. It is important to emphasize in this process not to repeat the content of the frameworks studied in the resulting model, unless it is to support a proposed success factor. The resulting model was validated by conducting a survey of 100 PMP certified professionals in the information and technology sector, and 5 interviews were conducted with industry leaders. The result shows a high acceptance of the mentioned success factors referring to hybridization, sustainability and completeness, and on a par with these, 13 empirical success factors were validated.

This thesis aims to produce a discourse analysis, inspired by theorists Ernesto Laclau & Chantal Mouffe, of the debate in written media between 2005 and 2015 on lowering the voting age in Sweden to 16 years. Influenced by Barbara Cruikshank’s ideas of the citizen-subject, the author asks two questions; how a differential chain of equivalence can be used to explain the discursive construction of the citizen-subject; and what discursive obstacles are preventing a lowering of the voting age to 16 years? The thesis concludes that there is a series of generally considered criteria, either connected to individual ideals of maturity or collective ideals of political involvement. The two ideals take the role as master signifiers and are articulated through several other signifiers, which articulates maturity to responsibility, knowledge and an intellectual development. The master signifier of politically involved is articulated to political interest and political organization. The thesis also suggests that groups on the verge of being accepted as voters will be put under higher demands than what is otherwise required of those already qualified to vote, due to the influence that those who are already qualified have on the discourse
