    Data on chrysanthemum aphid mortality under the influence of various DNA fragments

    The data were obtained under laboratory conditions on small chrysanthemum seedlings affected by aphids. Mortality is recorded daily for a week. It was found that Macsan-11 at a concentration of 100 ng / microliter has a significant effect on the viability of aphids, however, to achieve the best effect, double treatment was carried out at intervals of a day

    The role of insurance in the social-economic system

    The article considers the position and meaning of insurance in the social-economic system of Russia. Insurance is associated primarily with protection of the property interests under risky events. There is a large classification of risks, which is closely related to the insurance institution, and the authors analyze some types of risks providing relevant contemporary examples. Insurance is a means of the risk management system; however, the current economic, political, and social situation has a direct impact on the insurance system. Thus, in periods of instability, insurance companies have to adapt to the economic situation and financial possibilities of people to purchase insurance products. Insurance as a type of activity performs two groups of functions — economic and social. The main task of insurance is to implement effective measures of insurance protection from risky events. The article also considers activities of insurers in Russia from 2012 to 2018: the number of insurance companies, the authorized capital, the peak volume of foreign deposits, insurance payments, reinsurance operations, etc. The authors present two types of insurance — voluntary and compulsory — and consider the features of each type. The data of sociological surveys allows to analyze these features and to identify the role of voluntary and compulsory insurance in the social-economic system (tasks, functions, and so on). ∗ © Zh.V.     The study of social representations by the vignette method: A quantitative interpretation

    The article focuses on the prospects of creating vignettes as a new method in empirical sociology. It is a good alternative to the conventional mass survey methods. The article consists of a few sections differing by the focus. The vignette method is not popular among Russian scientists, but has a big history abroad. A wide range of problems can be solved by this method (e.g. the prospects for guardianship and its evaluation, international students' adaptation to the educational system, social justice studies, marketing and business research, etc.). The vignette method can be used for studying different problems including sensitive questions (e.g. HIV, drugs, psychological trauma, etc.), because it is one of the projective techniques. Projective techniques allow to obtain more reliable information, because the respondent projects one situation on the another, but at the same time responds to his own stimulus. The article considers advantages and disadvantages of the method. The authors provide information about the limitations of the method. The article presents the key principles for designing and developing the vignettes method depending on the research type. The authors provide examples of their own vignettes tested in the course of their own empirical research. The authors highlight the advantages of the logical-combinatorial approaches (especially the JSM method with its dichotomy) for the analysis of data in quantitative research. Also they consider another method of the analysis of the data that implies the technique of "steeping", i.e. when the respondent gets new information step by step, which extends his previous knowledge. © Zh.V. Darbā apskatītas tēmas: 1. Audzināšanas būtība, tās vieta un loma izglītības procesā. 2. Vērtību orientācija audzināšanas procesā. 3. Audzināšanas darba programmas sākumskolā. 4. Audzināšanas programmu kopīgās tendences un trūkumi. 5. Kristīgās reliģijas kompetences veidošanas nepieciešamība un iespējas klases audzinātāja stundās. 6. Klases audzinātāja darbības organizācija, vadot klases stundas par reliģiskā satura tēmām. 7. Reliģiskā satura stundu plānojums klases audzinātāja programmā, iespējamā tematika. 8. Secinājumi. 9. Pielikums. Darba mērķis bija veikt izmaiņas klases audzinātāja programmā, ieviešot jaunas tēmas, kuras dotu sākumskolas skolēniem informāciju par reliģiskajiem svētkiem, to svinēšanu, kristīgajām tradīcijām. Savā praktiskajā darbībā, audzinot klasi un vadot klašu audzinātāju metodisko komisiju, nākas secināt, ka skolēnu interese par reliģiskajiem jautājumiem pieaug, jo īpaši par reliģisko svētku svinēšanu. Sākumskolēnu vecāki atbalsta šādu tematu iekļaušanu klases audzinātāja stundu plānojumā, par to liecina veiktās anketēšanas rezultāti. Par teorētisko bāzi izmantoju profesores A. Šponas, J. Valbes, S. Remeses, F. Kozireva, H. Postmana, angļu pedagoga M.Smārta teorētiskās atziņas, I. Koroļevas, R. Rungules, S. Sebres, I. Trapencieres pētījuma „Latvijas jaunatnes socioloģiskais portrets” materiālus, kā arī izmantoju savas divdesmit divu gadu klases audzinātāja darbā gūtas atziņas un pieredzes materiālus. Darba uzdevumi: •Noskaidrot skolēnu, skolotāju un vecāku attieksmi pret kristīgā satura tēmu iekļaušanu audzinātāja programmās; •Izveidot reliģiskā satura tēmu bloku, kuru varētu iekļaut klases audzinātāja stundu programmā. Mērķis tika sasniegts- izveidots tēmu bloks, kurš tiek iekļauts klases audzinātāja programmā. Šīs tēmas 2005./2006. mācību gadā tika aprobētas Engures vidusskolā. Izstrādātais darbs varētu kalpot kā teorētiskā un praktiskā bāze klašu audzinātājiem viņu darbā.Der Titel der Arbeit „Die religiĻse Feste und die christliche Traditionen in den Programmen der Klassenstunde“. Die Autorin der Arbeit Ina Puzanova. Die Arbeit besteht aus den theoretischen und praktischen Teil, und der Forschung. In der Arbeit werden folgende Themen behandeln: 1.Das Wesen der Erziehung. Die Stelle und die Rolle der Erziehung im Unterrichtsablauf. 2.Die Wertorientierung im Erziehungsprozess. 3.Die Erziehungsarbeitsprogramme in der Primarschule. 4.Die gemeinsame Tendenzen und Mangel der Erziehungsarbeitsprogramme. 5.Die Bildungsnotwendigkeit der christliche Religionskompetenz und die MĻglichkeiten sie in den Klassenstunden einzufŅhren. 6.Die Handlungsorganisation der Klassenlehrer in den Unterrichten Ņber religiĻsen Themen. 7.Der Unterrichtplanung mit religiĻsen Inhalt in der Erziehungsarbeitsprogramm, die mĻgliche Thematik. 8.Die Schlußfolgerungen. 9.Die Anlage. Das Ziel der Arbeit ist die Änderungen in der Erziehungsarbeitsprogramm mit neuen Themen, die die Information Ņber die religiĻse Feste und christliche Traditionen den PrimarschŅlern geben, leisten. Die praktische Erfahrung in der Arbeit als Klassenlehrerin und als Leiterin der methodische Komission fŅr Klassenlehrern zeigt, dass die Interesse der Lernende Ņber religiĻse Fragen wächst. Besonders interessant finden sie das Feier der religiĻse Feste. Die Ergebnisse der Umfrage beweisen, dass die Eltern der PrimarschŅler die EinfŅhrung der religiĻsen Themen in der Erziehungsarbeitsprogramme bestärken. Als theoretische Basis wurde die Arbeiten von A.Špona, J.Valbe, S.Remese, F.Kozireva, H.Postman, M.Smart, I.Koroļova. R.Rungule, S.Sebre, I.Trapenciere (die Forschungsmaterialien „Soziologisches Jugendbildnis Lettlands”), so wie auch die eigene Erfahrungsmaterialien, die 22 Jahre lang gesammelt wurde, genommen. Die Aufgaben der Arbeit: •Nachforschen das Verhältnis der SchŅler, Lehrer und Eltern zu der EinfŅhrung der religiĻsen Themen in der Erziehungsarbeitsprogramm der Klassenstunde; •Bilden religiĻse Themenblock, den in der Erziehungsarbeitsprogramm einfŅhren kann. Das Ziel wurde erreicht – der Themenblock wurde gestalltet, in der Erziehungsarbeitsprogramm eingefŅhrt. Die Themen wurden im Schuljahr 2005/2006 in der Mittelschule Engure bestätigt.     Infantilization of the youth: A methodological approach to measurement

    Modernity, characterized by informatization, globalization and unprecedented acceleration of all social processes, significantly differs from the reality that existed several decades ago, which affects new generations whose lifestyle differs completely from their parents. The period of ‘growing up’ has changed, and society faces the challenges of infantilization which, on the one hand, is determined by various factors (media, virtualization, etc.) and, on the other hand, increases the impact of these factors. The article considers theoretical foundations of the concept ‘social infantilism’, its fundamental differences from the psychological interpretation of ‘infantilism’, its manifestations in the contemporary Russian society, and some methodological approaches to its measurement. The article presents the details of the development and testing of the sociological methodology for measuring the level of social infantilism. The development of this methodology consisted of several stages: at the first stage, a questionnaire was designed and tested on a group of students (30 respondents), then the projective technique ‘collage’ was used for validation on two mini-groups of students — with maximum and minimum indicators of infantilism. At the final stage, the corrected questionnaire was tested on a representative sample of the RUDN University students (N = 550). Social infantilism can be diagnosed in one of the spheres — political, economic, everyday life, family relations and ideological views — or as a generalized phenomenon (present in all spheres).     The LGBT community and the attitude towards it became one of the dividing factors between Russia and Europe long ago. This factor quite often creates political precedents and becomes a basis for various provocations. In the Russian mass conscience the topic, which has long been considered tabooed, today has a sensitive character; therefore classic survey methods are hardly suitable for its study; on the other hand, various projective techniques have proved to be more useful. This article presents the data of a number of Russian sociological surveys on the attitudes towards LGBT representatives and of the RUDN University Sociology Chair scientific team research on this subject. The article also presents the results of a number of focus groups aimed at identifying attitudes towards LGBT representatives and based on the application of the vignette method, which is a special type of projective techniques. The high efficiency of vignette method for the study of such a sensitive subject was proved. The method allows overcoming of some barriers in respondents' conscience determined by the 'radical' character of the issues under study, and also reduces the general social pressure upon respondents. The research with the application of vignette method resembled a kind of a narrative game, therefore adapting this method to the focus group research helps to obtain more detailed and interesting data due to the group dynamics. © Zh.V.     A hierarchical model of tail dependent asset returns for assessing portfolio credit risk

    This paper introduces a multivariate pure-jump Lévy process which allows for skewness and excess kurtosis of single asset returns and for asymptotic tail dependence in the multivariate setting. It is termed Variance Compound Gamma (VCG). The novelty of my approach is that, by applying a two-stage stochastic time change to Brownian motions, I derive a hierarchical structure with different properties of inter- and intra-sector dependence. I investigate the properties of the implied static copula families and come to the conclusion that they are ordered with respect to their parameters and that the lower-tail dependence of the intra-sector copula is increasing in the absolute values of skewness parameters. Furthermore, I show that the joint characteristic function of the VCG asset returns can be explicitly given as a nested Archimedean copula of their marginal characteristic functions. Applied to credit portfolio modelling, the framework introduced results in a more conservative tail risk assessment than a Gaussian framework with the same linear correlation structure, as I show in a simulation study. To foster the simulation efficiency, I provide an Importance Sampling algorithm for the VCG portfolio setting
