    Results on non-SUSY searches for physics beyond the SM

    A summary of the CMS results on alternative searches to SUSY is presented. The analysed data were recorded with the CMS detector during the pp collisions at 7 TeV and 8 TeV centre of mass energy in 2011 and 2012. Updated and new limits on various searches, e.g. Z', W', extra dimensions, will be discussed

    CMS Silicon Strip alignment and monitoring with the Laser Alignment System

    The alignment of the CMS Silicon Strip detector can be monitored using its built-in Laser Alignment System. The 32 laser beams in endcaps and the 8~laser beams connecting the barrel and the endcap regions make it possible to monitor the alignment changes to a precision better than 10 μ\mum and the measurement of the absolute alignment parameters better than 100 μ\mum. For this, 434 of the Silicon Strip modules (3\%) are illuminated by the laser beams, assuring a continuous surveillance during the collisions and cosmics data taking. In this contribution the status and the preliminary results of monitoring and alignment parameters during the 2011 data taking period at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are presented

    Search for Neutral MSSM Higgs Bosons in the μ+μ\mu^+\mu^- final state with the CMS experiment in pppp Collisions at s=7\sqrt{s}=7 TeV

    This paper presents a search for production of neutral Higgs bosons predicted by Supersymmetry using the μ+μ\mu^+\mu^- decay channel. The data from proton-proton collisions at s=7\sqrt{s}=7~TeV were recorded in 2011 with the CMS detector and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 4.964.96~fb1^{-1}. The search is sensitive to SUSY Higgs boson production in association with a bbˉb\bar{b} pair and via the gluon-gluon fusion process. In the mhmax_h^{max} scenario, this analysis excludes values of tanβ\tan\beta between 16 and 26, at the \mbox{95\% CL}, for Higgs masses from 115 to \mbox{175 GeV/c2c^2}. Less stringent limits in terms of tanβ\tan\beta (between 26 and 40) are determined for higher values of the Higgs mass up to 300 GeV/c2c^2
