No full textThe essay proposes a partial review of the biography of Giovanni Della Casa’s young years. By reorganising and re-examining the letters Della Casa wrote between 1530 and 1537 to his principal correspondents, Ludovico Beccadelli, Carlo Gualteruzzi and Cosimo Gheri, Manzocchi introduces fresh biographical detail. In particular, the cross-analysis of the material allows the author to date and trace Della Casa’s movements with greater precision and shed new light on his cultural activities and literary endeavours

Diego Manzocchi,
un aviatore italiano nella Guerra di Finlandia intende far meglio conoscere la drammatica vicenda
del pilota Diego Manzocchi, il quale disertò dall’esercito italiano nel
settembre del 1939. Passato in Francia, raggiungerà nel gennaio del 1940 prima
la Svezia e poi la Finlandia per arruolarsi nell’aviazione finlandese. Alla
fine del settembre 1939 era infatti scoppiata la Guerra d’inverno tra Finlandia e Unione Sovietica. Molti volontari
stranieri vollero aiutare la Finlandia in questa drammatica lotta per la
libertà. Tra questi Diego Manzocchi che, ai comandi del caccia Fiat G. 50
effettuò alcune missioni tra il febbraio e il marzo. L’11 marzo rimase vittima
di un atterraggio di fortuna sulla superficie ghiacciata del lago Ikolajärvi. Oltre
a illustrare le vicende che portarono Manzocchi ad arruolarsi in Finlandia,
questo studio prende in esame i motivi che spinsero Manzocchi a disertare.
Questi, a giudizio dell’Autore, non sono da farsi risalire ad un suo presunto
antifascismo o a una storia d’amore con una francese, ma al compimento di una
missione affidatagli dai circoli del fascismo che volevano evitare l’ingresso
in guerra dell’Italia a fianco della Germania.
