A low-cost microstrip antenna for 3G-WLAN-WiMAX and UWB applications

    No full text
This paper presents a low-cost ultra-wideband microstrip antenna for wireless communications. Printed on a 40×50×1.83 mm3 Isola Gigaver 210 substrate, the antenna features a microstrip feed line with two 45° bends and a tapered section for size reduction and matching, respectively. The ground plane is partial and comprises a rectangular part and a trapezoidal part. The patch is a half ellipse, where the cut is made along the minor axis. Several slots are incorporated into the patch. The placement and sizes of the slots are assisted by the knowledge of fractal geometries . The return loss, input impedance, gain, efficiency and radiation characteristics of the antenna are presented. It is shown that the antenna can operate in the bands used for UMTS, WLAN, WiMAX, and UWB applications. © 2009 IEEE.*AG TECHN, ADS MOM 2006; Al-Husseini M., 2008, 2008 INT WIR COMM MO; ALHUSSEINI M, 2009, 26 NAT RAD SCI C NRS; Balanis C. A Cognitive Stylistic Analysis of Catharsis Used by Husseini Preachers

    No full text
This study deals with catharsis as a cognitive stylistic device used to expel fear and anxiety for the sake of changing the audience toward better by preachers in Husseini discourse – Hussein is a grand Shiite Muslim leader. It aims to explicate the exploitation of catharsis by Husseini preachers and the conceptualization of such phenomenon by the audience. The study adapts the emotion model developed by Kovecses (2000); five stages are utilized: cause of the emotion, emotion, control, loss of control, and behavioral response. Twenty Husseini sermons are analyzed according to the stages of the model. Consequently, the study has come up with considerable conclusions. Chief among them are: Husseini preachers pragmatically use prosodic features to convey catharsis. A further conclusion is that catharsis is utilized by Husseini preachers as a strategy to teach the audience all the objectives of the Husseini revolution and to connect the objectives to this age for the sake of reform, using the fear that can modulate the human behavior

Phonopragmatic Manifestations in Iraqi Husseini Preachers’ Discourse: A Qualitative Auto-segmental Metrical Analysis

    No full text
This study is concerned with phonopragmatics, as a phenomenon that is based on phonological factors to convey the speaker’s intentions in Husseini discourse. Husseini discourse is a genre which is mainly characterized by the use of eloquent religious styles. Specifically, the study aims to investigate the Husseini preachers’ use of prosodic patterns under the approach of phonopragmatics; that is, the pragmatic treatment of modifying the preachers’ intonation contours in their speeches. A workable model is designed for the analysis of the data, based on the exploitation of prosodic features. Twenty Husseini sermons are analyzed by means of the model. The most important findings of the analysis indicate that certain prosodic contours are pragmatically used by Husseini preachers in order to convey significant illocutionary forces and to highly affect their audience

Motion planning in polyhedral products of groups and a Fadell-Husseini approach to topological complexity

    No full text
We compute the topological complexity of a polyhedral product Z\mathcal{Z} defined {in terms of} an LS\operatorname{LS}-logarithmic family of locally compact connected CW\operatorname{CW} topological groups. The answer is given by a combinatorial formula that involves the LS\operatorname{LS} category of the polyhedral-product factors. As a by-product, we show that the Iwase-Sakai conjecture holds true for Z\mathcal{Z}. The proof methodology {uses} a Fadell-Husseini viewpoint for the monoidal topological complexity (TCM)\big(\mathsf{TC}^M\big) of a space, which, under mild conditions, recovers Iwase-Sakai's original definition. In the Fadell-Husseini context, the stasis condition - TCM\mathsf{TC}^M's \emph{raison d'\^etre} - can be encoded at the covering level. Our Fadell-Husseini inspired definition provides an alternative to the TCM\mathsf{TC}^M variant given by Dranishnikov, as well as to the ones provided by Garc\'ia-Calcines, Carrasquel-Vera and Vandembroucq in terms of relative category

Magnetic field strength of chemically peculiar A and B-type stars

    No full text
The goal of this work is to detect Zeeman split lines and measure magnetic field strength in a sample of Ap stars. This work aims to analyse spectra of 454 stars and find stars that show spectral lines resolved into their magnetically split components. The work included writing and applying a computer code to visualize astronomical spectra and estimate the mean surface magnetic field strength by fitting resolved Zeeman split lines. The data represent spectroscopic measurements obtained from November 2018 to March 2020 with the HERMES spectrograph. This study investigated high-resolution spectra of 454 Ap stars and identified 31 stars showing resolved Zeeman split lines. The majority of these stars were already known to have resolved magnetically split lines, but this paper reports the discovery of 12 new stars having this property. This paper presents 67 measurements of the mean magnetic field modulus of 31 Ap stars with resolved magnetically split lines

A Cognitive-Pragmatic Analysis of Schematic Structure of Selected Husseini Sermons with Reference to Ahmed Al-Waeli’s Sermons

    No full text
This research is concerned with the schematization of certain subschemata within the Husseini sermons as a religious genre that emphasizes good religious, social, and political attitudes. Based on Stockwell’s 2002 model of the schematic structure, several Al-Waeli’s sermons on the Husseini cause have been analyzed. The analysis has yielded several essential conclusions on the level of the cognitive conceptualization and the level of theme. Regarding the conceptualization, the employment of the objectives of the Husseini cause as a revolution against tyranny and persecution to address the public has triggered different scripts and frames within the major schemata of the Husseini discourse. As for the thematic conclusion, the Husseini discourse is a positive genre including good values and concepts that are adopted by Human rights such as freedom, love, peaceful coexistence, social equality, economic solutions, and other relevant issues. This research has a positive impact on humans’ cognitive behavior
