No full textHumanity proceeds along the path of hybridization with the technological tool. The centre of gravity of the creative process moves within the computational man-tool ecosystem, with capital consequences: the instrument, like an “organ”, guides our way of thinking, designing, and planning. In this context two aspects of the process of architectural design will be explored in this chapter which requires more consideration from a methodological perspective: design optimization and architectural simulation. The optimization stage is related to the process of realizing the objective of architecture, inherently prescribing the outcome. Representation and simulation, on the other hand, are important as a tie between the concept (or an idea of the architect) and the materialization of that concept, that is, a link between the sensory and non-sensory. Both aspects are important but highlight a different side of the process

No full textFirstly, the authors would like to thank the editor for the opportunity to respond to Dr Al-Azri’s and Dr Al-Maniri’s letter. Secondly, while the current authors also accept that deterrence-based approaches should act as only one corner-stone of a suite of interventions and public policy initiatives designed to improve road safety, deterrence-based approaches have nonetheless consistently proven to be a valuable resource to improve road safety. Dr Al-Azri and Dr Al-Maniri reinforce their assertion about the limited utility of deterrence by citing drink driving research, and the issue of drink driving is particularly relevant within the current context given that the problem of driving after drinking has historically been addressed through deterrence-based approaches. While the effectiveness of deterrence-based approaches to reduce drink driving will always be dependent upon a range of situational and contextual factors (including police enforcement practices, cultural norms, etc), the utilisation of this approach has proven particularly effective within Queensland, Australia. For example, a relatively recent comprehensive review of Random Breath Testing in Queensland demonstrated that this initiative not only had a deterrent impact upon self-reported intentions to drink and drive, but was also found to have significantly reduced alcohol-related fatalities in the state. However, the authors agree that deterrence-based approaches can be particularly transient and thus require constant “topping up” not least through sustained public reinforcement, which was clearly articulated in the seminal work by Homel

The objective of the study is to ensure that the storyline presented in the novel employs one or more the point of view that exists. There are the first person point of view, the second person point of view and the third person point of view. This study also shows the difference between FRASA: Satu Bayangan with other novels. Therefore, this study directed to the used of Gamebook concept which is a genre of book or novel nowadays. Concurrently, this study will investigate the usage of Narratology theory to choose the point of view and the narrative. The study uses a qualitative method as the model study by analyzing the content of novel and Gamebook
Cosmological consequences of a variable cosmological constant model
No full textWe derive a model of dark energy which evolves with time via the scale factor. The equation-of-state is studied as a function of a parameter α introduced in this model as = (1 - 2α)/(1 + 2α). In addition to the recent accelerated expansion, the model predicts another decelerated phase. These two phases are studied via the parameter α. The age of the universe is found to be almost consistent with the observation. In the limiting case, the cosmological constant model, we find that vacuum energy gravitates with a tiny gravitational constant which evolves with the scale factor, rather than with Newton's constant. This enables degravitation of the vacuum energy which in turn produces the tiny observed curvature, rather than a 120 orders of magnitude larger value

No full textThis study is aimed to knowing the correlation between parental attention with students’ career maturity SMK Swasta Al-Maksum Stabat. The hypothesis that submitted was, there is positive correlation between parental attention with students’ career maturity with assuming that the higher parental attention the higher career maturity. Where the sample of this study was the students of class X and XI SMK Swasta Al-Maksum Stabat with the population were 422 students and the sample were 105 students that got by using proportional random sampling technique. The data collection was did by using Likert Scale that includes of two scales, there are scale parental attention and career maturity scale. The data analysis method that used was Multiple Regression Analysis. From result of data analysis found that there is a significance of positive correlation between parental attention with career maturity students’ of SMK Swasta Al-Maksum Stabat, that is shown by coefficient F= 59,299 and P < 0,05.Parental attention gives the contribute to career maturity as much as 54,5%
