Understanding ISO’s 9001 Benefits and Research through an Operations Strategy Framework
Full text linkDespite the success that the ISO 9001 standard has achieved it has been extensively criticized and empirical studies have shown controversial results about its impact on performance. Our conceptual study was motivated by the mentioned dilemma about ISO 9001 effectiveness, and the controversy that this dilemma raises in literature on the one hand and on the other by almost exponential growth of certifications among companies world-wide. It is our opinion that in order to understand results related to ISO 9001 implementation we need to take a step back from empirical research and instead try to analyze iso conceptually by taking into account also the results of empirical studies implemented in the past. The purpose of the paper is to clarify the purpose of implementation of ISO 9001 and, in relation to this purpose, to analyze different possible benefits resulting from its implementation. In order to achieve this purpose our goal is to analyze the criticism of the old ISO 9001:1994 by using a specific framework of the operations strategy theory. The paper emphasises that in accordance with its conformance purpose, ISO 9001 is successful in building conformance capability and that by using ISO 9001 practices companies can also benefit in relation to production economics through improved process efficiency and to other competitive capabilities. A Review of the Literature to understand Diversity in ISO 9001 adoption and the Achievement of benefits

in implementation and benefits achieved. Our search found 721 articles on
the adoption of meta-standards such as ISO 9001, of these we found twelve
studies that provide insights into how different rationales and styles of
adoption relate to benefits achieved. Despite the great majority of studies
assuming homogeneous adoption of ISO9001, the review finds there is early
evidence to support a trend towards more and more international academic
works emphasizing heterogeneity in the adoption of the ISO 9001 standard to
explain how benefits arise. However, the approaches are fragmented so
future research is needed to integrate these research models to achieve a
better understanding of the direct and indirect effects of the different
variables
An Analysis of the Main Drivers for ISO 9001 and other Isomorphic Metastandards
Full text linkResearch on the adoption of metastandards (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, SA 8000) has used a variety of theoretical perspectives to identify the main driving forces or motivations. While the majority of existing studies on this subject are of an empirical character with little development of a theoretical framework, there are nonetheless a certain number of noteworthy studies undertaken in the context of a clear and consistent conceptual and theoretical framework, on the basis of which various working hypotheses may be assessed and compared. In this article the main theoretical perspectives for the analysis of the motivations for the adoption of metastandards are reviewed. Furthermore, a short review of the empirical literature dealing with the drivers for ISO 9001, the most promiment metastandard, is carried out, in order to shed light on this issue for both the researchers and practitioners interested in this management tool.international standards; standardization; metastandards; ISO 9001; motivations.
Implantação de um Sistema de Gestão da Qualidade Baseado na NBR ISO 9001:2000 na Unimed Florianópolis
Full text linkTCC (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro Sócio Econômico, Curso de Administração.Este trabalho busca identificar e analisar as etapas imprescindíveis no processo de implantação de um Sistema de Gestão da Qualidade norteado pela NBR ISO 9001:2000 na Cooperativa de Trabalho Médico Unimed Florianópolis, doravante chamada de Unimed Florianópolis, demonstrando as vantagens e benefícios que possa trazer para uma organização do porte desta cooperativa, mostrando como se implantar com o intuito de buscar a melhoria continua, otimizando a produtividade dos processos administrativos e melhorar a eficiência na execução das rotinas administrativas e operacionais. Foi realizada uma fundamentação teórica que vislumbra a abordagem de alguns autores em relação aos métodos e sistema de gestão da qualidade, bem como a Norma ISO 9001:2000 e seus requisitos. Foram analisados metodologias e sistemas já existentes e os questão sendo implantados, a visão da alta direção em busca da formatação do Sistema de Gestão da Qualidade e a obtenção da certificação NBR ISO 9001:2000, através de entrevistas semi estruturadas, conversas informais, levantamento de dados e da própria observação participante do processo, onde o orientando é o gerente responsável pela implantação deste novo sistema na cooperativa. Apresentam-se também a política e objetivos da qualidade já estabelecidos os processos que estão sendo estruturados e finalmente as vantagens e direção em que se encaminha a Unimed Florianópolis na implantação de seu sistema de gestão da qualidade

Este estudo destaca os requisitos para adequação ao sistema de gestão da qualidade descrito na Norma ABNT ISO 9001:2000. Como objetivo geral propõe efetuar estudos em uma organização do ramo de serviços para conhecer o processo de implantação da Norma da série ISO 9001:2000. Os objetivos específicos são identificar e caracterizar as normas de qualidade da série ISO 9000; efetuar diagnóstico através da Norma ISO 9001 para implantação na empresa Interseas Comércio Exterior Ltda. e propor medidas para implantação das normas da série ISO 9001:2000, na empresa. Justifica-se o presente trabalho academicamente, por fornecer informações sobre os sistemas de gestão de qualidade Este estudo de caso demonstra a relevância aos pesquisadores, professores e alunos, que estão carentes de vivenciar as ações empíricas. Para a organização, irá demonstrar informações a respeito da implantação de um sistema de qualidade, em busca de melhorias nos processos e procedimentos atuais visando maior competitividade no mercado. A inovação do tema em estudo esta em poucos trabalhos acadêmicos nesta área e a recente publicação da Norma. Na fundamentação teórica foi abordada a qualidade na administração, as normas do sistema de qualidade e por fim detalhando a ABNT ISO 9001:2000. A metodologia utilizada para atingir os objetivos caracteriza-se como um estudo de caso, coleta de dados "in loco" através de observação pessoal e/ou participativa, uma pesquisa qualitativa, com a análise interpretativa dos dados, a amostra não probabilistica intencional, abrangendo os responsáveis pelo desenvolvimento estratégico da empresa. Levantamentos bibliográficos, tais como livros, teses, dissertações, normas e pesquisas na Internet. Nas analises caracteriza-se a empresa, demonstra o diagnóstico realizado das condições para implantação das normas na empresa e as propostas para implantação das normas da série ISO 9001:2000. Espera-se contribuir para o futuro da organização estudada, destacando que é necessário um aprofundamento no estudo das diversas etapas do processo, subprocessos e registros. Az ISO 9001 alkalmazásának előnyei egy magyarországi gyógyszergyártó cég esetében
No full textA gyógyszeripar területén nem elterjedt az ISO 9001:2015-ös szabvány alkalmazása. Ennek oka, hogy a gyógyszeripar szerteágazósága, valamint a betegbiztonság fontossága következtében a szabályozási rendszer külön vált az egyéb ipari területekre kialakult szabályozási rendszerektől. Az idők folyamán és a tudás gyarapodásával egyre több területre születtek szabályozások, előírások, iránymutatások.
A szabályozási rendszerek átfedései következtében megkezdődött a szabályozási rendszerek harmonizációja és új szabályozások, szabványok kialakítása, kiadása. Ennek köszönhetően születtek meg az ICH guide-ok, melyek a gyógyszeriparra vonatkoznak.
Dolgozatomban bemutatásra kerül az ISO 9001:2015 szabvány felépítése és tartalma röviden. Valamint a gyógyszeriparra vonatkozó ICH Q10 szabályozás felépítését és tartalmát is ismertetem.
Elvégzem a két dokumentum összehasonlítását és listába foglalom a hasonlóságokat és az eltéréseket.

Exploring performance attribution: the case of quality managment systems adoptions and business performance

Accreditation to the ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems Standard has proven to be a persistent and growing phenomenon in services and manufacturing, yet to date little attempt has been made to explore how performance results in cross-sectional research may be attributed to different causation mechanisms and how their influences may alter over time.
Methodology. The paper defines four possible causation mechanisms before searching and analysing the empirical literature on quality management system certification to ISO 9001 and business performance for evidence of their causal influence.
Findings. From the analyses it is found that the benefit that can safely be attributed to the treatment-effect of ISO 9001 accreditation is lower waste; while the benefits of lower costs and better quality are less likely unless motives for adoption are developmental rather than externally driven. From an analysis of longitudinal studies a strong selection-mechanism is found where more profitable firms have a greater propensity to adopt than less profitable firms. From the finding propositions are developed to show how the influence of these mechanisms change over time.
Implications for research. The existence of the selection-mechanism has profound implications for interpreting business performance achievements because the benefits that are attributed to the treatment-effect from adopting quality management system standards are likely to be greatly inflated by the influence of the selection-mechanism. The author suggests that richer theory is needed that can incorporate bi-directional influences and new research is needed to explore the underlying causes of the selection effect.
Value of paper. The paper is believed to be the first to systematically explore attribution of performance in the ISO 9001 literature. Its findings provide new insights into the complexities of attribution of performance in studies of new practices and systems.

Full text linkQualidade na administração é caracterizada como ferramenta essencial para o desenvolvimento de uma gestão eficiente. Cada vez mais os administradores das instituições públicas estão complementando seu planejamento estratégico com metas de qualidade. Esta pesquisa tratou do desenvolvimento de um estudo da viabilidade de implantação de um Sistema de Gestão da Qualidade através da certificação ISO 9001:2008 no Centro de Ciências Agrárias – CCA, da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina – UFSC. Seu objetivo foi proporcionar à instituição um diagnóstico de qualidade, a fim de que no futuro seja possível agregar os aspectos iniciais da qualidade preparando-se para a certificação. Os dados primários foram adquiridos através do método observativo e de uma entrevista em profundidade auxiliada por um roteiro semi estruturado ao relatório de diagnóstico, bem como consultas em manuais e documentos internos da instituição. Os dados secundários foram obtivos por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica a fim de fundamentar a investigação. relacionado Com esta pesquisa pode-se aferir que é viável a implantação um Sistema de Gestão da Qualidade no CCA/UFSC desde que se utilize ferramentas da qualidade.
