Abstract 794: Potential role of DLL4 in uveal melanoma vascular mimicry

Abstract Uveal melanoma is the most common malignancy of the eye. Thanks to gene array analysis it is possible to classify uveal melanoma in Class 1 (low metastasis risk) and Class 2 (high metastasis risk) tumor. This classification will ultimately determine the tumor treatment, risk of metastasis and patient surveillance. Progression to metastasis remains by far the greatest problem in uveal melanoma and is associated with loss of BAP1 tumor suppressor. Bioinformatic analyses of RNA-Seq indicated that pro-angiogenic genes such as DLL4, VEGFA, VEGFC and HIF1a are overexpressed in Class 2 compared to Class 1 uveal melanoma while angiogenic inhibitors such as ZFP36L1, HIF1AN, VEGFB, VHL and HIF3A are downregulated. Further, we found that DLL4 is among the 5 most highly overexpressed genes associated with BAP1 loss in clinical specimens and in uveal melanoma cell lines induced to deplete BAP1. DLL4 is a Notch ligand known to regulate endothelial cells, bone marrow endothelial cell progenitors and angiogenesis. We hypothesize that DLL4 contributes to vascular mimicry in uveal melanoma. To test this hypothesis, we will test uveal melanoma cell lines induced to deplete BAP1 using shRNA in cell culture-based and in vivo models. The results of this research have the potential to elucidate the mechanism by which vascular mimicry occurs in uveal melanoma. Citation Format: Julia Escandon, Matthew G. Medicine. This manuscript is now IO Islamic 1132 in the India Office collections. [metadata: Otto Loth, A Catalogue of the Arabic Manuscripts in the Library of the India Office, (volume 1), no. 794 here with further notations and hyperlinks]. 794. 1132. Size 10 in. by 7 in.; foll. 171. Twenty-one lines in a page. The first portion of a large work on diseases and their remedies, entitled ترويج الارواح من علل الاشباح. The author calls himself IBN SA’D AL-DÎN, and dedicates his work to a Wazîr, whose name he does not mention. At the beginning of his preface he speaks of the تنقيح المكنون من مباحث القانون ; but as this passage is mutilated , it cannot be ascertained if he speaks of it as a work of his own. According to Ḥ. Kh. (ii. 451), the work I question is by Fakhr al-dîn Khujandî. Ḥ. Kh. ii. 285, also mentions a ترويح الارواح فى الطبّ , which he ascribes to Ḥakîm al-dîn Maḥmûd Tabrîzî. Begins: الله احمد علی ان جبلنى بقدرته طالباً لمعرفة ماهية مواليد الاركان . The work consists of an introduction, in fifteen مسلك , and of twenty chapters (قول) , in which the author treats first of the single parts of the body , from the head downwards , and afterwards of general diseases. A detailed list of the contents is inserted in the preface. This MS. contains the introduction and the first eight chapters, which are inscribed as follows:-- 1. Legibly written in Nasta’liḳ. Ends abruptly. Worm-eaten. The first leaf is mutilated. [Johnson.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
