Initial implementation of RFC 6897
The Multipath TCP (MPTCP) protocol allows applications to better explore the network resources available to multi-connected devices such as mobile phones or multi-homed systems. Here, some advantages are envisioned: bandwidth aggregation, the ability to maintain the connection, if one of the network path fails and the use of multiple paths. To extend these capabilities to the application, RFC 6897 defines an API to better control each of MPTCP’s subflows, so that these can be added or removed as needed. This work presents an initial API implementation as defined in RFC 6897. We implemented some functions described in the document, such as protocol on/o, check existent subflows and add new subflows. To test the API and validate our implementation we built an HTTP application that detects elephant flows and uses the API for open new subflows using the original TCP connection. Some tests were performed in a network using a cubic topology and showed that the API utilization decreased the Flow Completion time of TCP connections.Não recebi financiamentoO protocolo Multipath TCP (MPTCP) permite que as aplicações possam explorar melhor os recursos de rede disponíveis para dispositivos multiconectados como os telefones móveis ou sistemas multi-homed. Aqui, algumas vantagens são previstas: agregação de banda, a habilidade de manter a conexão estabelecida se houver falha em um dos caminhos de rede e a utilização de múltiplos caminhos. Para estender essas capacidades para a aplicação, a RFC 6897 define uma API que permite um melhor controle de cada subfluxo MPTCP, de modo que esses possam ser adicionados ou removidos conforme necessário. Este trabalho apresenta uma implementação inicial da API descrita na RFC 6897 para o protocolo MPTCP. Sendo assim, implementamos algumas das funções de manipulação do protocolo MPTCP descritas no documento, quais sejam: ligar e desligar o protocolo, verificar subfluxos existentes e adicionar novos subfluxos. Para testar a API e validar a nossa implementação, nós desenvolvemos uma aplicação HTTP que detecta fluxos elefantes e utiliza a API para abrir novos subfluxos a partir da conexão TCP original. Testes de desempenho foram realizados em uma topologia cúbica e mostraram que a utilização da API pela aplicação diminuiu o Flow Completion Time das conexões TCP

Abstract 6897: Development of immunomodulatory nanoparticles targeting HER2 for breast cancer therapy
International audienceAbstract Nanoparticles (NPs) are emerging as a promising strategy in oncology, offering optimised drug delivery and the potential to modulate immune responses. In this study, we developed an innovative nanoparticle encapsulating docetaxel and functionalised with trastuzumab for the precise targeting of HER2-positive tumours (called ANC for Antibody Nanoparticle Conjufate). Pharmacokinetic analyses were performed using C57BL/6 mice, which were administered free docetaxel (1.6 mg/kg) and trastuzumab (135 ng/kg) via intraperitoneal injection (n = 29), or ANC (nanoparticles at the same docetaxel and trastuzumab doses as the free drugs, n = 40). Blood samples were collected at 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 12, and 24 hours post-injection, and the frozen plasma was analysed using by HPLC-UV. For biodistribution studies, DiR-labelled nanoparticles were administered to C57BL/6 mice, and imaging was performed on a daily basis using an IVIS Spectrum imager. Immunomodulation study was assessed by flow cytometry. The AUC0-∞ for the ANC (4250.79 ng.mL/h) was four times higher than for free docetaxel (1050.3 ng.mL-1.h-1). In addition, the half-life of the liposomal docetaxel (22.14 hours) was significantly three times longer than that of the free docetaxel (7.15 hours). Biodistribution studies in mouse models showed that the nanoparticle remained stable and did not reach the liver until 30 hours after injection. Immunomodulation studies showed that ANC had a different effect on the distribution of lymphocyte subpopulations compared to free drug, with a notable decrease in regulatory T cells (Tregs) in the ANC-treated group, suggesting a potential immunostimulatory effect. The potential immunomodulatory effects of these nanoparticles on anti-tumour immune responses are currently being investigated. These preliminary results demonstrate the dual benefit of targeted drug delivery and immune system engagement offored by these nanoparticles, which could pave the way for novel breast cancer treatments. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Human exposure to low frequency horizontal motion in buildings and offshore structures: an assessment of guidance in BS 6611 and ISO 6897
Building vibration produced by external sources (e.g. road and rail traffic) and internal sources (e.g. domestic equipment and footfalls) is usually within the frequency range 1 to 80 Hz. The excitation of structures by wind or waves can induce horizontal motion at frequencies less than 1 Hz. This paper reviews guidance on the measurement, evaluation and assessment of human exposure to horizontal motion over the frequency range 0.063 to 1.0 Hz as provided in British Standard 6611 (1985) and the equivalent International Standard 6897 (1984). The guidance is compared with standards applicable to exposure to vibration at higher frequencies. It is concluded that BS 6611 and ISO 6897 do not adequately allow for the effects of exposure duration or for differences in the effects of motion on different tasks. Acceleration limits for buildings proposed in BS 6611 and ISO 6897 for the worst 10 minutes of a wind storm with a return period of 5 years or more are similar to satisfactory magnitudes in BS 6472-1 (2008) and BS 6841 (1987) for 10-minute daily exposures. Mean thresholds for the perception of motion in BS 6611 and ISO 6897 are a little higher than those in ISO 2631-1 (1997), BS 6472-1 (2008), and BS 6841 (1987). The acceleration magnitudes expected to impair task performance in BS 6611 and ISO 6897 are lower than the magnitudes impairing hand control in BS 6841. Possible revisions to BS 6611 and ISO 6897 are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
