MiR-6869-5p Induces M2 Polarization by Regulating PTPRO in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

    No full text
The role of microRNA (miRNA) in gestational diabetes mellitus has been widely investigated during the last decade. However, the altering effect of miR-6869-5p on immunity and placental microenvironment in gestational diabetes mellitus is largely unknown. In our study, the expression of miR-6869-5p was documented to be significantly decreased in placenta-derived mononuclear macrophages, which was also negatively related to PTPRO. Besides, PTPRO was negatively regulated by miR-6869-5p in placenta-derived mononuclear macrophages. In vitro, miR-6869-5p inhibited macrophage proliferation demonstrated by EdU and CCK-8 experiments. The inflammatory response in macrophages was also significantly inhibited by miR-6869-5p, which could regulate PTPRO as a target documented by luciferase reporter assay. Moreover, miR-6869-5p promoted M2 macrophage polarization and thus restrain inflammation. Accordingly, miR-6869-5p is involved in maintaining placental microenvironment balance by preventing from inflammation and inducing M2 macrophages in gestational diabetes mellitus

miR-6869-5p Inhibits Glioma Cell Proliferation and Invasion via Targeting PGK1

Accumulating studies have suggested the dysregulated microRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in brain tumors, including glioma. miR-6869-5p has been documented to be aberrantly expressed in diverse cancers. However, the precise role of miR-6869-5p in glioma remains poorly understood. This study is aimed at evaluating its modifying effects on glioma. Significantly decreased expression of miR-6869-5p was found in glioma tissues and cells. Negative association was documented between miR-6869-5p and PGK1 in glioma cells, and PGK1 was demonstrated to be a targeted gene of this miRNA by luciferase reporter assay. miR-6869-5p regulated glioma cell proliferation and invasion via targeting PGK1. In addition, the survival analysis had suggested that low miR-6869-5p expression predicted poor prognosis of glioma patients. This study has suggested that miR-6869-5p is a useful tumor suppressor and prognostic marker in glioma

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

The chronicle article of 6869 (1361): its texts and their possible roots

The purpose of the research: In the article, the author examines the chronicle article of 6869 (1361) which tells about the struggle for Sarai among khans after the demise of Khidr-khan. The text of the chronicle report of 6869 is presented in different ways in Old-Russian chronicles. The article aims at revealing textual reliability of one of the most confusing places in the Old-Russian chronicling for the 14th–15th centuries – the description and the course of events for 1361 which have become described as a new phase of the events in the Ulus of Jochi, known as the “Great Troubles”. Research materials: The primary sources for this study were Old-Russian chronicles which focus closely on the described events, namely – the Rogozhsky and Simeonovskay Chronicles as well as the chronicles of the Novgorod-Sofia group. Important information was borrowed when referring to N.M. Karamzin’s comments on the «History of the Russian State», according to which, the lost Troitsk Chronicle is now being restored. Within the study, a number of other late chronicles are also involved in order to compare them textually with earlier ones. The results of the research and scientific novelty: Based on the results of the scrutinization of chronicles of the 15th–16th centuries, it can be stated that there are three primary versions of the related material, two of them being placed one after the other in the Rogozhsky Сhronicler. The author concludes that the first version of the chronicle tale belongs to the Troitsk Chronicle or an even earlier chronicle than “the Codex of 1408”. The second version of the text, which is placed only in the Rogozhsky Chronicler, belongs to a currently unknown source, while the third version goes back to the Novgorod-Sophia Codex, which in turn descends back to “the Codex of 1408”. Based on the chronicle evidence of the 15th – 16th centuries, the author concludes that Khidr-khan was killed by his son Timur-Khoja, and not by his brother Murad

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
