Αναλυτικότερα, κύριο θέμα μελέτης αποτελεί η πολιτική της κυβέρνησης Βενιζέλου για την εκπαίδευση και ειδικότερα για την Ανώτατη Εκπαίδευση της Ελλάδας με επίκεντρο το Εθνικό και Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, εξετάζεται ο Νόμος 5343/1932 «Περί Οργανισμού του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών», οποίος έμελλε να είναι και ο μακροβιότερος νόμος στην ιστορία της πανεπιστημιακής μας εκπαίδευσης. Αρωγό στην προσπάθεια εκσυγχρονισμού της Ανώτατης Εκπαίδευσης ο Βενιζέλος βρήκε στο πρόσωπο του διεθνούς κύρους Έλληνα μαθηματικού Κωνσταντίνου Καραθεοδωρή, καθώς εκείνος ανέλαβε την αναδιοργάνωση του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών το 1930 και πρότεινε λύσεις που αποτέλεσαν τη βάση του Νόμου 5343. Το πρώτο κεφάλαιο ασχολείται με την κατάσταση του Πανεπιστημίου και τα προβλήματα που το ταλανίζουν πριν την ψήφιση του Νόμου 5343 το 1932. Προβλήματα όπως η κρατικός παρεμβατισμός, ο εθνικός διχασμός, οι συνεχείς τροποποιήσεις των Οργανισμών του Πανεπιστημίου και οι απολύσεις μελών του διδακτικού του προσωπικού δεν θα αφήσουν ανεπηρέαστο το ίδρυμα και θα φέρουν πολλές αναταράξεις στους κόλπους του. Το δεύτερο κεφάλαιο καταπιάνεται με τον άνθρωπο που συντέλεσε στη διαμόρφωση του Νόμου 5343 και αυτός δεν είναι άλλος από τον Κωνσταντίνο Καραθεοδωρή. Δίνονται στοιχεία για τη ζωή, την προσωπικότητά του, τη σχέση του με το Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών πριν το 1930, την εμπιστοσύνη που του έδειξε ο Ελευθέριος Βενιζέλος σχετικά με τα εκπαιδευτικά ζητήματα της χώρας και την ανάληψη της ευθύνης για την ίδρυση του δεύτερου ελληνικού πανεπιστημίου στη Σμύρνη. Το τρίτο κεφάλαιο της εργασίας αφορά στον Οργανισμό του 1932, τις προτάσεις του Καραθεοδωρή και τι προηγήθηκε της ψήφισης του Νόμου. Ειδικότερα, μελετώνται οι προτάσεις του φημισμένου μαθηματικού σχετικά με την αναδιοργάνωση του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Επίσης, μελετώνται οι διατάξεις του Νόμου και τι ακριβώς προέβλεπαν για όλους του τομείς του Πανεπιστημίου. Ακόμη, δίνεται προσοχή στις συζητήσεις που προηγήθηκαν της ψήφισης του Νόμου στη Βουλή. Στο τέταρτο κεφάλαιο της εργασίας αποτυπώνονται οι αντιδράσεις που προκλήθηκαν τόσο από την πλευρά των καθηγητών, όσο και από την πλευρά των φοιτητών, απέναντι στο Νόμο 5343. Τέλος, περιλαμβάνονται συμπεράσματα σχετικά με τη θέση του ιδρύματος μέσα στην ελληνική πολιτεία και κοινωνία. Πόσο επηρεάστηκε από την ιστορία του νεότερου ελληνικού κράτους και ποιος ο ρόλος του καθηγητικού σώματος. Συμπεράσματα διεξάγονται και για τον Κωνσταντίνο Καραθεοδωρή και το ρόλο που διαδραμάτισε στην αναδιοργάνωση της ελληνικής Ανώτατης Εκπαίδευσης.The paper entitled "Law 5343/1932: Constitution of the University of Athens" concerns Eleftherios Venizelos’ government policy of urban modernization from 1928 to 1932. Specifically, the main subject of the paper is Venizelos’ government policy on education and particularly on Higher Education in Greece focusing on the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Especially Law 5343/1932: Constitution of the University of Athens is under consideration, which is the longest living law in the history of Greek university education. Venizelos was assisted in the modernization of Higher Education by the internationally prestigious Greek mathematician Constantine Caratheodory, as he undertook the reorganization of the University of Athens in 1930 and suggested solutions that formed the basis of the Law 5343. The first chapter deals with the University's condition and its problems before the passage of Law 5343 in 1932. Problems, such as state intervention, the national division, continuous changes of the University Constitutions and dismissals of members of the teaching staff, will not leave the university unaffected and will cause many disruptions on campus. The second chapter deals with the man who helped shape Law 5343 and this is none other than Constantine Caratheodory. The chapter includes details about his life, his personality, his relationship with the University of Athens before 1930, the trust placed in him by Eleftherios Venizelos concerning the educational issues of the country and the responsibility taken by Caratheodory for establishing the second Greek University in Smyrna. The third chapter of the paper relates to the Constitution of 1932, Caratheodory’s proposals, and what preceded the passage of the Bill. In particular, the proposals of the famous mathematician are studied, regarding the reorganization of the University of Athens. Furthermore, the provisions of the Law are studied as well as exactly what was prescribed by them for all sections of the University. Moreover, attention is given to the debates that preceded the passage of the Law in the Greek Parliament. In the fourth chapter of the paper, the reactions caused on the part of the teachers, as well as the students, against Law 5343 are reflected. Conclusions are included relating to the position of the University as part of the Greek State and society. The amount to which the University was influenced by the history of the modern Greek State and the role of the faculty is mentioned. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
