Characterization of Thermally Treated Gas-Atomized Al 5056 Powder
Aluminum 5056 is a work-hardenable alloy known for its corrosion resistance with new applications in additive manufacturing. A good understanding of the secondary phases in Al 5056 powders is important for understanding the properties of the final parts. In this study, the effects of different thermal treatments on the microstructure of Al 5056 powder were studied. Thermodynamic models were used to guide the interpretation of the microstructure as a function of thermal treatment, providing insight into the stability of different possible phases present in the alloy. Through the use of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), combined with thermodynamic modeling, a greater understanding of the internal microstructure of Al 5056 powder has been achieved in both the as-atomized and thermally treated conditions. Evidence of natural aging within these powders was observed, which speaks to the shelf-life of these powders and the importance of proper treatment and storage to maintain consistent results
Vibration Analysis On Composite Panel 5056 Aluminum
Bachelor In Aircraft Engineering Technology (Hons) Mechanical,July 2013Composites are susceptible to flaw during the fabrication process and while in service. Defects that occur in manufacturing or impacts that occur during normal operation can significantly reduce the strength of the composites. Much attention has been focused on the research of structural health monitoring (SHM), since it provides a reliable, efficient, and economical approach to increase the safety and reduce the maintenance costs of engineering structures. Composite panel 5056 aluminum, one of the commonly used structural composites, was chosen for the test material. This paper highlights a computational model which is Sigmaplot software to analyze the behavior of 5056 aluminum material subjected to vibration. The Dynamic Fit Wizard has been chosen as the analysis process as it gave the most clearly reading and pattern of the graph. The behavior of 5056 aluminum after exposed to vibration testing was observed and calculated from the data obtained from Sigmaplot. The result showed that the pattern was almost the same and have similarities between one and another. The result can be a reference to do the structural health monitoring (SHM) later onto the 5056 aluminum panel

Effects of ceramic particle size on microstructure and the corrosion behavior of cold sprayed SiCp/Al 5056 composite coatings
cited By 4International audienceAn Al 5056 alloy coating and Al 5056 based composite coatings reinforced with silicon carbide (SiC) particles were produced by cold spray technology. The microstructure was observed by different methods, from the coating surface through the cross sections to the interface. Attention was paid to key parameters governing the corrosion resistance of coatings: porosity, surface roughness, interface morphology and distribution of ceramic particles. The addition of SiC particles resulted in denser coating, homogeneous distribution of reinforcement phase and modified coating surface roughness and interface morphology. Corrosion behavior was studied by electrochemical measurements and corrosion resistance was also tested by long-term immersion. Results showed that the cold sprayed Al 5056 coating and SiCp/Al 5056 composite coatings provided cathodic protection for an aluminum substrate. SiCp/Al 5056 composite coatings showed better corrosion resistance than Al 5056 coating. Greater spraying efficiency and the best corrosion resistance were obtained with SiCp particles size close to 20 μm. © 2017 Elsevier B.V
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
