TEAD1/4 exerts oncogenic role and is negatively regulated by miR-4269 in gastric tumorigenesis
M.Phil.Gastric cancer (GC) among the most common malignancies globally and is the third most frequent cause of cancer-related death. A wide variety of genetic, epigenetic and post-transcriptional alterations or aberrations underlies the initiation and progression of GC.This study was focusing on the involvement of Hippo pathway during gastric carcinogenesis. TEAD transcription factors are key components of the Hippo-YAP1 signaling pathway, but their functional role and regulatory mechanisms remain elusive. In our cohort, the clinicopathological association of TEAD4 in GC was revealed by immunohistochemistry on tissue microarray. Multivariate Cox Regression analysis indicated that TEAD4 predicts poor prognosis among gastric patients independently (P = 0.049). TEAD family, especially TEAD1 and TEAD4 were found to be high expressed in both primary gastric tumors and GC cell lines (P < 0.001). Knockdown of TEAD1/4 induced a significant anti-cancer effect in vitro and in vivo, which suggested that the enrichments of these genes promoted cell growth and cell invasive ability.Besides genetic and epigenetic regulations, this study also aimed to comprehensively explore the expression pattern and functional role of TEAD family in gastric carcinogenesis from post-transcriptional level, for example, the regulation of TEADs by microRNAs (miRNAs). The prediction of miRNAs which potentially target TEAD1/4 was screened by TargetScan and miRDB. The regulation of TEAD1/4 by miRNAs was confirmed by qRT-PCR, Western blot and luciferase activity assays. TEAD1 was confirmed to be a direct target of miR-377-3p and miR-4269, while TEAD4 was negatively regulated by miR-1343-3p and miR-4269. Ectopic expression of these miRNAs substantiated their tumor-suppressive effects. Among them, miR-4269 serves as the most effective inhibitor of TEAD1/4 for it also natively regulated the expression of TEAD downstreams, such as CTGF and Cyr61. In primary GC tumors, downregulation of miR-4269 was associated with poor disease-specific survival (P = 0.003) and showed a negative correlation with TEAD4 expression (P = 0.031). More importantly, re-overexpression of TEAD1 and TEAD4, in part, rescued the growth inhibitory effect of miR-4269 in GC.In conclusion, TEAD1 and TEAD4 are oncogenic factors, whose aberrant activation are, in part, mediated by the silence of miR-377-3p, miR-1343-3p and miR-4269. For the first time, the nuclear accumulated TEAD4 and down-regulated miR-4269 are proposed to serve as novel prognostic biomarkers in GC. Zhou, Yuhang.Thesis M.Phil. Northwest Africa 4269: a metal-rich eucrite from the Algerian Sahara
International audienceNorthwest Africa (NWA) 4269 is an anomalous monomict eucrite that is characterized by a very high content of metallic iron (~ 3%). It shows various textures (relict magmatic subophitic, granulitic areas as coarse and fine-grained). NWA 4269 also shows petrographic evidence of secondary sub-solidus reheating events. Pyroxenes have homogeneous compositions and are iron-rich. NWA 4269 is metamorphosed type 5. It has a normal HED oxygen isotope composition. The chemical composition of NWA 4269 has characteristics similar to that of Nuevo-Laredo trend eucrites. Metal is extremely abundant in the finegrained areas (~ 10%). Metal also has a very low Ni content (Ni<0.1%) that excludes a direct origin from a chondrite-like impactor. Origin of the pure-Fe groundmass metal remains enigmatic. The high metal content in NWA 4269 can be interpreted as having formed via the reduction of FeO and probably also by desulfidation of pre-existing troilite. Iron metal could have formed by deposition from a Fe-rich fluid that, probably after an event that triggered sudden reduction. NWA 4269 has normal HED oxygen isotope compositions and interpreted as belonging to the 4-Vesta asteroid

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
