    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     肺転移に対するターゲット療法

    高頻度に肺転移を生じる細胞の抗線溶活性が上昇していることから、抗癌剤とフィブリノーゲンもしくはplasminogen activator-inhibitor-1(PAI-1)を結合させ肺転移巣に対するターゲット療法を計画した。しかしながら、抗癌剤とフィブリノーゲンあるいはPAI-1との結合がうまくいかず、計画を一部変更してurokinase-plasminogen activator(uPA)とPAI-1及びそれらの抗体による肺転移の治療の可能性を探ることとした。結果はuPA、抗uPA抗体およびPAI-1では肺転移はむしろ増加し、抗PAI-1抗体の投与で、ヌードマウス尾静脈より注入した腫瘍細胞の実験肺転移を抑制することができた。これは今後の臨床における肺転移抑制の研究において意義深いことと思われた。研究課題/領域番号:05671208, 研究期間(年度):1993出典:研究課題「肺転移に対するターゲット療法」課題番号05671208 (KAKEN:科学研究費助成事業データベース(国立情報学研究所)) (https://kaken.nii.ac.jp/ja/grant/KAKENHI-PROJECT-05671208/)を加工して作成金沢大学医学部・整形外科学research repor

    プラスミノーゲンアクチベータ-インヒビター1の活性に基づいた肺転移形成と抑制

    【方法および効果】ヒト線維肉腫細胞のcell line(HT-1080)はheterogeneityを有している。Fidlerの方法に準じてin vivo selectionを行い10倍肺転移能の高いHT-1080のsubpopulationを得た。このsubpopulationは親株に比べてPAI-1の発現(ELISA)は3倍に増加していた。また限界希釈法を用いてHT-1080からPAI-1の発現が極めて少ないクローン(1-3C)と、それの多いクローン(26-6)を確立した。1-3CのPAI-1の発現量は親株HT-1080のわずか5%であり、肺転移形成能も低い。26-6のPAI-1の発現量は親株の約2倍で肺転移形成能は10倍以上であった。PAI-1の発現が少ない1-3CにPAI-1のcDNAを発現クローニングベクター(pcDNA1neo)に組み込み、リン酸カルシウム法、Lipofection法を用いてtransfectionを行った。neomycinによる選別を行いPAI-1がtransfectionされたcell line 1-3C(PAI)を得た。1-3C(PAI)は1-3Cの3倍以上のPAI-1の発現がみられた。また肺転移能に関しては、1-3Cはほとんど肺転移を形成しないにもかかわらず、1-3C(PAI)は高頻度に肺転移を形成した。 【結論】PAI-1の発現が低いHT-1080のクローン(1-3C)にPAI-1のcDNAをtransfectionすることによりPAI-1の発現が増加し、さらに肺転移能の増加がみられた。PAI-1が肺転移を増加させる重要な因子の1つであることが直接的に証明された。研究課題/領域番号:06771123, 研究期間(年度):1994出典:研究課題「プラスミノーゲンアクチベータ-インヒビター1の活性に基づいた肺転移形成と抑制」課題番号06771123 (KAKEN:科学研究費助成事業データベース(国立情報学研究所)) (https://kaken.nii.ac.jp/ja/grant/KAKENHI-PROJECT-06771123/)を加工して作成金沢大学医学部・附属病院research repor

    Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    Investigation for mechanism of metastasis using molecular imaging

    The roles of small extracellular vesicles (SEVs) in enhancing metastases have been demonstrated in multiple tumors, but they are still poorly understood in osteosarcoma. Hence, this study investigated the effects of SEVs on progression and the tumor microenvironment in mice and patients. In an orthotopic implantation study, we found that osteosarcoma-derived SEVs had the potential to enhance metastases and angiogenesis. In addition, osteosarcoma-derived SEVs decreased the number of mature osteoclasts in vivo. In vitro osteoclastogenesis studies revealed that the inhibition of osteoclast maturation by osteosarcoma-derived SEVs was mediated by suppressing the NF-κB signal pathway. MicroRNA analysis of SEVs from different malignant human osteosarcomas revealed that miR-146a-5p was involved in the inhibition of osteoclastogenesis.     Treatment strategy and analysis of progression mechanism of musculoskeletal tumors using fluorescent imaging

    蛍光標識骨肉腫細胞をin vivoでの継代で転移能の異なる細胞を作成し転移能が上昇するにつれてPAI-1・u-PAの濃度が上昇していた。カフェインの抗腫瘍効果はPTEN/Akt経路に加え、NF-κB、ERKを抑制することを明らかにした。Fluorescent Ubiquitination-based Cell Cycle Indicatorを用いて、カフェインが細胞周期の停止を阻害し抗癌剤を増強させることが分かった。テオブロミンの作用について検討し、抗腫瘍作用があることが分かった。骨軟部悪性腫瘍の蛍光イメージング目的に、ICGを用いて骨軟部腫瘍患者で施行し手術のナビゲーションとなり得た。Fluorescent labeled osteosarcoma cell line was transplanted in nude mice and harvested in lung metastasis to obtain higher metastatic cell line. The more metastatic potential, the more PAI -1 and u-PA levels increased. We previously reported that caffeine-assisted chemotherapy. We found caffeine affects tumor cells through various pathways, such as PTEN, AKT, NF-kB, and ERK activities. Modulation of cisplatinum efficacy induced by caffeine was visualized at the subcellular level by fluorescent ubiquitination-based cell cycle indicator in the nucleus. Caffeine overcame the cell-cycle arrest induced by cisplatinum, thereby increasing its efficacy. Theobromine, a caffeine derivative, was investigated as a new anti-cancer effect. It elevates intracellular cAMP levels and inhibits cell proliferation.
