Testimony before the Kansas Legislature, Health and Human Services Committee, by Sarah Fertig, State Medicaid Director, Kansas Department of Health and Environment.Testimony "in opposition to HB 2463. Our opposition is based on concerns about the breadth and vagueness of the bill, as well as the likely impacts to the Medicaid program if it were to become law. We also have concerns about whether CMS would allow the state to implement the bill. HB 2463 is not clear about what it would prohibit. HB 2463 is vague with respect to the types of routine and ongoing changes to the Medicaid program that would be prohibited until January 1, 2026. If it became law, the bill would likely block the state from fully implementing program improvements that are already in progress. ... HB 2463 would require sweeping changes to normal Medicaid operations, but the extent of those changes is unclear. If HB 2463 as written were to become law, it could jeopardize federal funding and place the state Medicaid program in an awkward position of being unable to comply with either state or federal law. We would encourage the committee to vote against this bill because of its uncertain and far-reaching implications.

No full textThesis (M.A.)--Chulalongkorn University, 2004The thesis traces the development of Muay Thai from the year 1920-2003 (BE 2463-2546) with the objective of studying the effects of westernisation and commercialisation on the sport's role and significance in Thai society. It takes a historical approach, using both primary and secondary resources. Its findings are that there are eight major roles that have been played and continues to be played by Muay Thai: as a form of military training, a vehicle for social and economic advancement, a method of commemoration, a national symbol, a popular domestic sport, a medium for gambling, a tourist attraction, and finally as an international sport. These roles either existed before 1920 or emerged thereafter and continue to exist today.วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ได้สืบตามรอยการพัฒนาของกีฬามวยไทยตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ. 1920-2003 (พ.ศ. 2463-2546) โดยมีจุดประสงค์ของการศึกษาคือเพื่อพิจารณาว่าความคิดแบบตะวันตกและแนวคิดทางธุรกิจได้มีผลกระทบอย่างไรบ้างกับบทบาทและความสำคัญของมวยไทยในสังคมไทย วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ได้ใช้วิธีค้นคว้าทางประวัติศาสตร์ และได้ใช้หลักฐานทั้งหลักฐานชั้นต้นและชั้นรองในการวิจัย ผลของการศึกษาแสดงให้เห็นว่า มวยไทยมีอยู่ บทบาทสำคัญด้วยกันทั้งสิ้นถึง 8 บทบาทกล่าวคือ เป็นหนึ่งในวิธีการฝึกทหาร เป็นเครื่องส่งเสริมให้เกิดความก้าวหน้าทางสังคมและฐานะทางเศรษฐกิจ เป็นหนึ่งในองค์ประกอบของงานพิธี เป็นสัญญลักษณ์ของชาติ เป็นกีฬายอดนิยมระดับชาติ เป็นสื่อกลางการพนัน เป็นกิจกรรมที่ดึงดูดนักท่องเที่ยว และที่สุด เป็นกีฬาที่ก้าวชั้นสู่ระดับนานาชาติ ซึ่งที่ผ่านมามวยไทยมีบทบาทปรากฏตามกล่าวในบางด้านมาแต่ก่อนปี ค.ศ. 1920 ขณะที่บทบาทบางส่วนได้พัฒนาขึ้นในภายหลัง และได้สืบทอดอยู่ตราบจนปัจจุบันสมั

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
No full textThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
