By analyzing a data sample of collisions with center-of-mass energy GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we study semileptonic decays of the mesons into the axial-vector meson via the decay . The decay is observed with a significance of 5.2 after considering systematic uncertainty, while evidence for the decay is obtained with a 3.1 significance. The product branching fractions are determined to be and , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The ratio of their partial decay widths is determined to be , which is consistent with unity, predicted by isospin invariance, within uncertainties.9 pages, 2 figure
Observation of the Singly Cabibbo Suppressed Decay D0 →b1 (1235)-e+νe and Evidence for D+ →b1 (1235)0e+νe
By analyzing a data sample of e+e- collisions with center-of-mass energy s=3.773 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.9 fb-1 collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we study semileptonic decays of the D0(+) mesons into the axial-vector meson b1(1235) via the decay b1(1235)→ωπ. The decay D0→b1(1235)-e+νe is observed with a significance of 5.2σ after considering systematic uncertainty, while evidence for the decay D+→b1(1235)0e+νe is obtained with a 3.1σ significance. The product branching fractions are determined to be B[D0→b1(1235)-e+νe]×B[b1(1235)-→ωπ-]=(0.72±0.18-0.08+0.06)×10-4 and B[D+→b1(1235)0e+νe]×B[b1(1235)0→ωπ0]=(1.16±0.44±0.16)×10-4, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The ratio of their partial decay widths is determined to be {Γ[D0→b1(1235)-e+νe]/2Γ[D+→b1(1235)0e+νe]}=0.78±0.19-0.05+0.04, which is consistent with unity, predicted by isospin invariance, within uncertainties.LPHE-L
Living stones : the practice of remembrance at Lincoln Cathedral, (1092-1235)
This thesis analyses four different aspects of devotional life at one of England’s largest and
wealthiest medieval cathedrals between the years 1092 and 1235. Each of these is associated with
the remembrance of the dead. It is an area of religious practice that was subject to momentous
change over the course of the period. These changes would have a profound effect on the
organization of Christian worship for centuries to come. The thesis assesses how contrasting
approaches to the practice of remembrance were able to enhance and shape the composition of
the church, and explores what they reveal about the distinctive fellowship of a secular cathedral
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.
