A hierarchy of SPI activities for software SMEs: results from ISO/IEC 12207-based SPI assessments
In an assessment of software process improvement (SPI) in 15 software small- and –medium-sized enterprises (software SMEs), we applied the broad spectrum of software specific and system context processes in ISO/IEC 12207 to the task of examining SPI in practice. Using the data collected in the study, we developed a four-tiered pyramidal hierarchy of SPI for software SMEs, with processes in the higher tiers undergoing SPI in more companies than processes on lower level tiers. The development of the hierarchy of SPI activities for software SMEs can facilitate future evolutions of process maturity reference frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 15504, in better supporting software development in software SMEs. Furthermore, the findings extend our body of knowledge concerning the practice of SPI in software SMEs, a large and vital sector of the software development community that has largely avoided the implementation of established process maturity and software quality management standards
A systematic approach to the comparison of roles in the software development processes
The vision of building a successful software product requires teams of individuals equipped with a wide range of social and technical skills. Furthermore, by combining these skills with appropriate job roles, we should be able to improve the productivity of a software organization. In order to identify and compare different roles in software development activities, we conduct a systematic comparison of software development models, covering traditional approaches through to agile techniques. To compare the roles in the literature with industrial software landscapes, we use data from a survey conducted on 266 software practitioners to ascertain job roles in two middle size software companies, one of which uses traditional methods and in particular ISO/IEC 12207 for managing their software development activities while other uses a tailored agile methodology. In light of our interviews, we found that based on project specific needs, the roles used in industry vary significantly from the roles defined in literature

CircPLXNA2 Affects the Proliferation and Apoptosis of Myoblast through circPLXNA2/gga-miR-12207-5P/MDM4 Axis
CircRNAs are newly identified special endogenous RNA molecules that covalently close a loop by back-splicing with pre-mRNA. In the cytoplasm, circRNAs would act as molecular sponges to bind with specific miRNA to promote the expression of target genes. However, knowledge of circRNA functional alternation in skeletal myogenesis is still in its infancy. In this study, we identified a circRNA–miRNA–mRNA interaction network in which the axis may be implicated in the progression of chicken primary myoblasts’ (CPMs) myogenesis by multi-omics (i.e., circRNA-seq and ribo-seq). In total, 314 circRNA–miRNA–mRNA regulatory axes containing 66 circRNAs, 70 miRNAs, and 24 mRNAs that may be relevant to myogenesis were collected. With these, the circPLXNA2-gga-miR-12207-5P-MDM4 axis aroused our research interest. The circPLXNA2 is highly differentially expressed during differentiation versus proliferation. It was demonstrated that circPLXNA2 inhibited the process of apoptosis while at the same time stimulating cell proliferation. Furthermore, we demonstrated that circPLXNA2 could inhibit the repression of gga-miR-12207-5p to MDM4 by directing binding to gga-miR-12207-5p, thereby restoring MDM4 expression. In conclusion, circPLXNA2 could function as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) to recover the function of MDM4 by directing binding to gga-miR-12207-5p, thereby regulating the myogenesis

This paper describes our experience on tailoring ISO/IEC 12207 for instructional software development. The project was initiated by a large government agency, and the process defined is to be followed by its suppliers during a typical software development contract. The process if targeted especially to small software development companies and provides guidance on what to do with respect to the customer's expectation

Convergence Analysis of ISO/IEC 12207 and CMMI-DEV: Complementary Result from Systematic Literature Review
The organizations and people are demanding more and better software products and services, which implies adequate processes for its development. In the context of the software industry, there are two models, the CMMI-DEV and ISO/IEC 12207 that are influencing it. Though, they are evolving separately, recurrently they have been compared to determine its coverage (in both directions). In this study is analyzed the results of those comparisons (partials and completed) to determine if the models ISO/IEC 12207 and CMMI-DEV converge at processes level. This study identified eight articles where the comparison is carried out between ISO/IEC 12207 and CMMI-DEV. The results show that technique most used is the mapping comparisons between the models and according to the analyzed studies is not possible to determine whether there is convergence in the time. However, we found some items and criterions for use in comparisons
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
