    Novel methods for the quality evaluation of Angelicae Radix aimed to expansion of Japanese production

    日本産当帰は一般に、ハサ掛け、湯もみという複数の工程を経て作製されるが、これらの条件は当帰の品質を変化させる要因でもある。しかし従来の品質評価法では加工条件の違いによる変化を評価することが難しかった。本研究では新たに根の径の違いによる部位別の検討を行い、品質の差を評価できるか調べることを目的とした。 各種試験の結果、希エタノールエキス含量は径が太い部分に多く湯もみにより増加することを明らかにした。また逆にリグスチリドは径が太い部分に少なく、70度の湯もみにより減少した。メタボローム解析の結果、根の最も太い部分が温度による成分変化が大きいことを示した。以上、当帰を部位別に評価する方法を確立した。Angelicae Radix is produced via traditional processes like drying in outside and steeping in hot water after cultivation in some aria in Japan. As those processes are thought to be the cause of quality differences, it is necessary to establish the method to make an analysis the Angelicae Radix. Here, I divided Angelicae Radix into five parts; root head, insides of main root, outside of main root, lateral-root and terminal lateral-root. I analyzed the contents of ethanol-extracts, the contents of Ligustilide, and the constituents and contents of sugars; glucose, fructose, sucrose. Using the Angelicae Radix produced by three kinds of condition; no steeping in hot water, steeping in 45 and 70 degree. As a result, ethanol extract contents are superior in main root to other pats and increasing by warming at 45 or 70 degree. Ligstilide contents were revealed to be rich in head part of main roots.     Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    生薬自給率向上に資する国産資源開発の基盤整備

    生薬生産は「薬草栽培」と「加工」の両方の技術確立で完結する。本研究課題では日本で特に欠けている「日本の環境に適した生薬の加工技術を確立すること」を目的とする。 加工技術は生薬の品質を左右する重要な工程であるにも関わらず、日本には確立した加工条件がなく、民間企業や個人の生産者が独自の方法で加工しているのが現状である。そこで加工法が異なる代表的な漢方生薬5品目(当帰、芍薬、地黄、川キュウ、附子)に着目し、中国の加工状況を調査したうえで科学的根拠に基づく最適条件を設定する。これが国産資源開発、生薬自給率向上に繋がる基盤整備となる。The production of herbal medicine consists of both cultivation methods of original plants and processing methods of harvests technique. The purpose of this research is to "establish a processing technique for herbal medicine suitable for the Japanese environment. Although the processing is an important process that affects the quality of herbal medicines, there are no established processing conditions in Japan, and the current situation is that private companies and farmers process them by their own methods. Therefore, I focus on five typical Chinese herbal medicines with different processing methods (Angelicae Acutilobae Radix, Peoniae Radix, Rehmanniae Radix, Cnidium Rhizoma, and Aconiti Radix Processa), I determine the optimum conditions based on scientific evidence after field investigation about China.     Strategies for cross-sectional and longitudinal quality evaluation of cultivated area and the herbal medicine

    生薬は医薬品原料であることから安定した品質が要求される。しかし生薬は同時に、原植物の成育の過程では自然環境により、収穫後は人為的な加工条件を経ることにより必然的に品質のバラツキが生じるという性質を有している。すなわち生薬の品質のバラツキを産地間(横断的)および年次間(縦断的)で比較することの可能性を検討し、これにより「等級」分けの指標となる品質評価の要素および数値を設定することを試みた。金沢大学で試験栽培を進めている重要漢方生薬4品目(当帰、芍薬、地黄、麻黄)を中心に品質を調査した。Herbal medicines are required to have stable quality. Herbal medicine inevitably has the property that there is variance in quality because of growing environment and processing conditions. I examined the possibility of comparing variations in the quality of herbal medicine between production areas (crossing) and between years (longitudinal). At the same time, I attempted to set the elements and numerical values of the quality evaluation that is an indicator of classification.     We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
