    The interstellar medium local to HD 10125

    Based on an H I line and 408- and 1420-MHz radio continuum survey carried out at the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory (DRAO), the environment of the O star HD 10125 has been studied. In addition, complementary radio continuum images, as well as infrared data of the same region have been analysed. An arc-like structure is found in all the radio continuum data. From the 21 -cm line data, an H I minimum is found in the velocity range ‒27 to ‒32kms-1. Although HD 10125 is not at the centre of the H I cavity, its eccentric position is consistent with the observed stellar proper motion. The H I cavity and the continuum arc-like structure show an excellent morphological correlation. The radio continuum emission has a spectral index (Sv ∼ vα) α = 0.0 ± 0.1, which establishes the thermal nature of the arc-like feature. The dust temperature obtained from the infrared data is higher in the area where the continuum emission is present. A distance of 3 kpc is derived for the star, the H I cavity and the radio continuum structure. We conclude that all the features we have found are physically related to each other. The O star has enough energetic photons to both ionize the surrounding gas and heat up the dust and, through its powerful wind, also sweep up the H I and H II gas.Facultad de Ciencias Astronómicas y GeofísicasInstituto Argentino de Radioastronomí

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Cílem práce je vypracování projektové dokumentace ve stupni DUR (dokumentace pro územní rozhodnutí) přeložky komunikace III/10125 v obci Vysoký Újezd za účelem omezení vjezdu tranzitní dopravy do centra obce. Pro navrhované řešení je důležité seznámení s problematikou daného území – jeho možnostech a úskalích, která jsou nutná respektovat. Řešeny jsou dvě úrovňové křižovatky. Jedna jako okružní, druhá variantně – okružní a styková. Výstupem diplomové práce je tedy projektová dokumentace zahrnující průvodní zprávu, výkresovou část a související přílohy.The aim of the thesis is processing of the project documentation at DUR level of the relocation III/10125 in the town of Vysoký Újezd for the purpose of reducing transit traffic in the centre of Vysoký Újezd. For the desing is important to acknowladge the problems of the area – its possibilities and difficulties, which have to be respected. There is the solution of two level intersections – the first one is a roundabout, the second one is a two-variant design – a roundabout and a joining intersection. The outcome of the thesis is the project documentation including a covering report, drawings and a related supplement

    This report confirms the first reported observation of Zaprionus indianus Gupta (Diptera: Drosophilidae), commonly known as African fig fly, on Maui (new island record). Adult specimens were collected in October and November 2017 while surveying for populations of Drosophila suzukii (Matsumura) (Diptera: Drosophilidae). Specimens were retrieved from four localities in Haiku and Kula among traps positioned at fruiting height in six host plant environments (orange, lemon, starfruit, banana, strawberry, and cherimoya). Historically, the earliest records of Z. indianus in the state were recorded on Oahu in 2013 (new state record, new island record), on Kauai in 2015 (new island record), and on the Big Island (Hawaii) in 2017 (new island record). Including this report, there are currently at least 33 introduced Drosophilidae species established in the state of Hawaii. Furthermore, it is the second member belonging to genus Zaprionus that has been identified on the Hawaiian Islands. Specimens were not only retrieved from farms and subdivisions but also within mountain ranges and state forest reserves, suggesting that further research is needed to evaluate potential impacts to endemic entomofauna.Published versionThe lead author, Brittany Willbrand, was my graduate student.
