In order to acquire a more fundamental insight into the life path and literary activities of Stanko Vraz, the Slovenian and Croatian poet and cultural public figure, it is essential to take into account the primary source materials passed down by some of some of his collaborators and friends. One such inheritance is archived in the Styrian Provincial Archives (Steiermärkische Landes Archiv). The word here is about the family holdings of Ivan Macun, the Slovenian linguist and writer (1821-1883). Along with Stanko Vraz, Macun had been the promoter of the Illyrian idea, and due to such activities both the Slovenian and Croatian culture and literature are in debt to him in many aspects. The author of this paper analyses and demonstrates the archive written matter, especially the original letters that Stanko Vraz [Jakob Frass] (1810 – 1851) had written to Stepan Hočevar (1808 - 1883), sharing the same views with him; then the letters written to Ljudevit Gaj (1809 – 1872), the ideological creator of the Illyrian Movement, and the ones written to the aforementioned Ivan Macun. Also, the importance of the Slovenian Illyrians is stressed in the paper, because their stay in Graz during the mentioned time period had greatly contributed to the Illyrian Movement's development. The role of Stanko Vraz, who proved himself as a writer both in his Slovenian as well as Croatian writings was especially prominent, and he goes down in history as one of the greatest writers of the then Slav south

In the first part of the article its author comments on historical and personal circumstances of the origin of the constitutional draft within »Slovenska zaveza«, an association of Slovene civic parties in the period of the Italian occupation in May, 1943. Especially stressed is the role of high-ranking civil servant, lawyer and writer Stanko Majcen, The second part contains the complete text of the constitutional draft with notes, discovered by the author in the Republic of Slovenia Ministry of the Interior archives in 1996.Prispevek je dvodelen: v prvi polovici komentiram zgodovinske in personalne okoliščine nastanka ustavnega osnutka v okviru "Slovenske zaveze", združenja slovenskih meščanskih strank v času italijanske okupacije maja leta 1943, s posebnim ozirom na delež visokega upravnega uradnika, pravnika in pisatelja dr. Stanka Majcna. V drugem delu navajam celotno besedilo osnutka ustave s pripombami, kakor sem ga leta 1996 odkril v arhivu Ministrstva za notranje zadeve republike Slovenije

U ovoj završnoj radnji analiziran je roman Bijeg Milutina Cihlara Nehajeva s kritičkim uvidom u interpretaciju književnog teoretičara i povjesničara Stanka Lasića. In this final work, the novel „Bijeg“ by Milutin Cihlar Nehajev has been analyzed with a critical insight into the interpretation of the literary theoretician and historian Stanko Lasić. The author based her interpretation on the original, extensive and manuscript doctoral dissertation of Stanko Lasić, and she gained insights into some other literary-critical judgments of the same work. Precisely because the extensive Lasić's PhD dissertation remained unpublished, and his interpretation was not directly integrated in the history of reading the novel „Bijeg“ by Nehajev, this deficiency was compensated with this final work

Modal analysis of a multiple structure

The aim of the work was to carry out a modal analysis of a multiple structure. Own forms of oscillation of the structure for five tones were obtained through the vector iteration process and were presented in table and graphic form. Using the different methods (Time history, SRSS and CQC), a calculation of the displacements was performed. Theoretically, all three methods are described and the results of the calculation for each of them are obtained. A comparison of the results, for the three methods in a given time interval, is graphically shown. Also, the results are compared which are all the same in all three methods. The modal seismic analysis of Spectral Theory was also performed. It can be concluded that by comparing the method of Time history and Spectral theory their results correspond to the maximum modal displacement

Stanko Janežič \u27s poetry at the intersection of modern Slovenian history

Profesor ekumenske teologije dr. Dr Stanko Janežič, a professor of ecumenism, was an important literary artist with a rich opus of prose and poetry. Romar s kitaro [Pilgrim and his Guitar] (1951) was his poetic debut, and Med zemljo in nebom [In Between Earth and the Sky] (2010) was his last collection before he died. The author of the text that depicts Janežič’s journey in poetry was the artist’s friend and confidant from the 1980s. He followed the artist’s poetic works and wrote a few forewords for his poetry collections. This is why this discussion is not merely a scientific insight into Janežič’s poetry opus but describes human ties which developed into a genuine friendship. The focus of the discussion are the qualities of Janežič’s poetry, and especially its fundamental conceptual circles, namely religious poetry, patriotic poetry as an echo to pivotal historic events, and reflexive and intimate poetry in which the poet put in the foreground his life path along with its challenges and his view of the world. The peculiarities and aesthetic quality of Janežič’s poetry are represented by extracts from poems from all three conceptual circle

White-collar victimisation: A study exploring the harms which employees may incur as a result of working for organisations in which white-collar violations take place

This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University. This project examines two case studies of 'employee victimisation', as part of a wider exploration of 'victimisation' by 'white-collar crime'. Former employees of Robert Maxwell's business empire are interviewed, and the impacts upon their lives of the plundering of their company pension schemes by their boss, Robert Maxwell, are documented. The second case study analysed is that of the closure of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International. Former employees of this bank are interviewed and the impacts upon their lives as a result of working for an institution considered to be corrupt by regulatory authorities are documented. Results reveal that, similar to the consequences of physical and sexual violence and property crime, the individuals taking part in this project endured emotional, psychological, physical, behavioural and financial harms. At the same time, however, unforeseen and undocumented consequences were uncovered which point to the need for further research on 'employee victimisation' and on 'white-collar victimisation' in general. This work is funded by the Law Department at Brunel University

Evolution of Expanditures and Production Relationship from 1965 to 1970 in our Peasant Families

    No full text
What effect did the Economic Reform of 1965 have on the income and expenditures in the rural household and agricultural economy, is the basic question which the author attempts to answer. The author describes the rural family household primarily as a consumer unit. Special emphasis is placed on the theoretical concept of peasant households. He then fully documents and describes the changing structure of expenditures in Yugoslav households. In the second part, the author treats the question of peasant family holdings which are defined as production units. He examines the concept and characteristics of these peasant holdings. The author then relates the various opinions held by foreign authors on peasant family holdings. Likewise, variant points of view held by foreign authors on rural economy which is not organized on a family basis are presented. The prevailing types of peasant family holdings throughout Yugoslavia are also analyzed in the second part. The third section deals with question of production in the rural economy. The author subsequently examines the relationship, which began in 1965 to 1970, between expenditures and production in Yugoslav peasant families. The theoretical model of Dr. Schweitzer is used for further explanation. He shows how this relationship appears in existing types of our peasant families through a graphic and mathematical form. The author concludes that the Economic Reform animated the peasant family and that because of the reforms, there was a relative increase of expenditures and production. The peasant family in Yugoslavia has its own model for living and work, expenditures and production. This model varies from family to family. Furthermore, the author believes that the peasant household is continually being urbanized and that the peasant rural economy in view of production efficiency and competition, continues to weaken

Structure and dynamics of a highly-invaded plant-pollinator network

    No full text
Networks of mutualistic interactions such as those between plants and pollinators are characterized by weak, asymmetric interactions organized in a nested pattern, in which the community is anchored by a core of interactions among generalist species. This characteristic structure contributes to community stability and diversity but may be disrupted by invasion of the network by non-native species. I used a network approach to characterize the community of interactions in an old field in New Jersey in which a high proportion of the plant species were non-native. I described the entire plant-pollinator community at Hutcheson Memorial Forest (HMF) and asked whether this network displayed the characteristic structural properties of mutualistic networks. Next, I examined how the non-native subset of the plant community compared to the native subset in terms of their interactions with pollinators. Finally, I considered the temporal dynamics of the network for this community by addressing inter-annual and intra-annual changes in network structure and examining how the role of non-native plants changed through time. Despite the high proportion of non-native plants species in the community, network properties were consistent with those described for other mutualistic networks. Non-native plants were visited less than native plants, but interactions with pollinators were organized similarly for both groups of plants. Network structure was consistent between years but varied widely on a monthly scale. Variation in the role of non-native plants emerged when the network was examined intra-annually. Non-native plants were subordinate to natives in terms of their importance to the pollinator community during most of the flowering season, except during a lull in native floral abundance, when non-native plants became more important. Overall, non-native plants as a set displayed a similar range of generalization as the native plant community, suggesting that non-native plants are exploiting the same strategies for participation in the plant-pollinator community as native plants. The structure of mutualistic networks appears to promote assimilation on non-native species while remaining robust to changes which threaten the stability of the community.Ph. Transcendental philosophy within perspectives of the romantic fragmentariness

    No full text
The relation of Jena romantics to Kant’s transcendental philosophy could be considered from the point of view of the romantic theory of the fragment. The author claims that fragmentariness had a transcendental character in the philosophical ref lections of Friedrich Schlegel and Novalis. That is the reason that they have acquired the opportunity of approaching to the immanent tension of Kant’s philosophical project. The problem of ref lection of relation between systematicity and incompleteness of knowledge and of man’s theoretical and practical side is among the most important. The author tries to evaluate the importance of Fichte’s version of critical idealism for romantics, considering the crucial romanticists’ intention of historization of transcendental idealism with the help of the fragment. Final chapter refers to recent interpretations of the romantic fragment which tend to ignore this intention
