Insurance premium calculation under continuous cumulative prospect theory
We define a premium principle under the continuous cumulative prospect theory which extends the equivalent utility principle. In prospect theory risk attitude and loss aversion are shaped via a value function, whereas a transformation of objective probabilities, which is commonly referred as probability weighting, models probabilistic risk perception. In
cumulative prospect theory, probabilities of individual outcomes are replaced by decision weights, which are differences in transformed, through the weighting function, countercumulative probabilities of gains and cumulative probabilities of losses, with outcomes ordered from worst to best. Empirical evidence suggests a typical inverse-S shaped function: decision makers tend to overweight small probabilities, and underweight medium and high probabilities; moreover, the probability weighting function is initially concave and then convex. We study some properties of the behavioral premium principle. We also assume an alternative framing of the outcomes; then we discuss several applications to the pricing of insurance contracts
An innovative and sustainable approach to spray paint graffiti removal from Istrian stone through the silica sol-gel chemistry: A preliminary assessment
A sustainable methodology to synthesise and screen libraries of new low-environmental impact products,
suitable for removing graffiti and murals from historic building, masonries and stone artworks has
been developed. This approach provided a novel series of two-component systems by combining silica
sol-gel chemistry and dimethyl carbonate. The solid matrixes were hybrid silica gels, which were synthesised
in basic conditions by using ethylene and propylene glycols as organic co-solvents. Dimethyl
carbonate (DMC) was the green organic solvent to load into the gel. The efficiency of three new systems
in adsorbing/trapping commercial red aerosol spray paint was investigated through an ad hoc test tube
extraction evaluation and on mock stained samples of Istrian stones. Data provided byNMRspectroscopy
and FT-IR spectroscopy led to the identification of a promising cleaning agent, paving the way to its full
characterisation and features improvement
In situ non-invasive characterization of pigments and alteration products on the masonry altar of S. Maria ad Undas (Idro, Italy)
A non-invasive characterization study has been performed and here presented for the first time on the masonry altar of S. Maria ad Undas, a parish medieval church on the Idro (Brescia, Italy) lakeshore. The determination of painting materials and of alteration products represent the one of the first steps, together with art history studies, of a wider project aimed to the valorization of the site. Images collected under UV light in fluorescence and reflectance mode provided useful information about the presence of organic residual materials attributable to the application of lost gilding details, while the readability of some particulars was greatly improved with respect to what observable in visible light. Moreover, near infrared (NIR) images led to hypothesize the presence of green earths in green painted areas. Raman and reflectance spectroscopy allowed the identification of the pigments and of several alteration products, such as plattnerite, which derived by the degradation of the lead-based ones, hydromagnesite, gypsum, and niter, as well as of carbon-based depositions
Insights into the synthesis of pillar[5]arene and its conversion into pillar[6]arene
The synthesis of pillar[5]arenes from p-dialkoxybenzene and formaldehyde in the presence of iron(III)
chloride and tetramethylammonium chloride under mild reaction conditions was investigated in detail.
For the first time, the presence of linear intermediate oligomers and their conversion into pillar[6]arenes
was demonstrated. Incorporation experiments were carried out using methoxy- and ethoxy-functionalized
pillar[5]arenes that were reacted respectively with 1,4-diethoxy- and 1,4-dimethoxybenzene, observing
the formation of the corresponding co-pillar[6]arene derivatives, PMe[5]Et[1] and PEt[5]Me[1]. An
experiment in which methoxy- and ethoxy-functionalized pillar[5]arenes were reacted together led to the
major formation of scrambled P[5] derivatives characterized by a bell shape distribution of ethoxy and
methoxy aromatic units. Co-Pillar[6]arenes P[6] were also detected by ESI-MS in minor amounts with a
similar symmetrical distribution of substituents that allowed the proposal of multiple cleavage events
occurring on the same macrocyclic ring forming in solution a series of smaller fragments, whose recombination
leads to the observed product distribution of P[5] and P[6] derivatives

Godos de papel: identidad nacional y reescritura en el Siglo de Oro
Aunque parezca mentira, más allá de la conocida lista de nombres propios, los godos se encuentran un poco por todas partes, llegando a saltar de época en época. Esta presencia constante se explica por el mito neogótico, que se modula en un proceso de reescritura entre la historia y la ficción con muchos intereses en juego porque los godos son un símbolo de identidad nacional que se maneja según conviene mejor en cada caso. En este sentido, el presente libro se centra justamente en las modificaciones y versiones: en los godos de papel. Este acercamiento panorámico se organiza en cinco puntos: abre fuego una introducción teórica sobre la formación de naciones con España en el centro y el mito neogótico, sigue un examen de la presencia de los godos en la historiografía española de los siglos XVI y XVII (y algunos géneros cercanos), que se da la mano con un recorrido por diversas formas de ficción por los godos de papel en un corpus de poesía, prosa y teatro de diversos ingenios del Siglo de Oro (Calderón, Cervantes, Lope, Quevedo y otros), y un acercamiento a la función del mito gótico en la diplomacia, para rematar con unas conclusiones generales que tratan de poner orden y concierto, así como dejar algunas puertas abiertas. Functionalization of Titanates–Silk Nanocomposites via Cation Exchange for Optical Applications
A simple and efficient method is developed to introduce plasmonic and luminescence functionalities in titanate nanosheets (TNSs)–silk nanocomposites by direct cation-exchange process. First, the cation exchange properties such as exchange kinetic and capacity are studied to verify the behavior of the material and determine the best condition of exchange. In particular, the effect of the valence on the kinetic is investigated through elemental analysis, focusing on three target cations (Ag+, Cu2+, and Eu3+) in water. It is demonstrated that the cation exchange capability of the composite is strictly dependent of the amount of TNSs. By acting on the time of ion exchange or by changing the TNSs concentration in the silk fibroin matrix it is possible to tune the metal ions doping. The process is applicable both on flexible free-standing membranes and thin films deposited on an appropriate substrate. By exposing the material to UV radiation, it is possible to synthesize in situ metallic nanoparticles, exhibiting a characteristic plasmonic peak in the visible spectrum. Furthermore, it is verified that the europium ions preserve their photoluminescence properties when introduced in the nanocomposite, showing a characteristic red emission under UV light
