    La Ergonomía del Ciclismo

    No full text
Cycling Ergonomics may be defined as an interdisciplinary and systemic field concerned with the study of interactions among “the cyclist, the bicycle, and the cycling environment”. Its primary objective is to enhance efficiency, comfort, safety, and overall human well-being, while minimizing fatigue and the risk of injury. The discipline seeks to establish an optimal correspondence between the cyclist’s anatomical, physiological, and biomechanical characteristics and the functional requirements imposed by cycling equipment, activities, and environmental conditions. In essence, Cycling Ergonomics advocates the adaptation of the bicycle and cycling infrastructure to the cyclist, rather than compelling the cyclist to conform to the constraints of the bicycle or route. This approach promotes the development of a sustainable, safe, and user-centered human–machine–environment system. Drawing upon the theoretical and methodological foundations of biomechanics, physiology, engineering, and human factors research, Cycling Ergonomics examines how posture, pedaling technique, and equipment design influence both performance outcomes and long-term health.L’Ergonomia del Ciclismo può essere definita come un campo interdisciplinare e sistemico, che si occupa dello studio delle interazioni tra “ciclista, bicicletta e ambiente ciclistico”.

Research and innovation on green and blue networks

    No full text
The research investigates the way in which the green and blue networks project, within new territorial re-infrastructure strategies, can contribute to creating circular and adaptive territorial and infrastructural models. Among them, the reclamation landscape is the subject of a “re-cycling” operation, moving this concept from the building scale to the territorial scale.

“The Wings I Liked”: Russian Rock as A Language of Violence in The Poetry of Elena Fanailova

    No full text
The article explores the significance of Russian rock in the poetry of Elena Fanaylova. Russian rock, which is usually considered to include bands and performers that have little in common with each other in musical terms, is not a specific genre, but rather a specific cultural phenomenon, the characteristic features of which are text-centricity, social orientation, and opposition to “soulless” popular music. Despite the initial protest potential, over time, Russian rock loses it and ceases to contradict ideology. The author investigates Fanaylova’s interpretation of the Russian rock phenomenon and its evolving status within contemporary Russian-speaking cultural landscape

The Metamorphoses in Elena Fanailova’s book With a Special Cynicism

The paper examines the imagery of metamorphoses in the poetic book of Elena Fanailova, which is pivotal to the issue. The link between the theme of metamorphosis and corporeal ecstaticity, which was explained by philosopher Vladimir Bibikhin, is substantiated. Ecstaticity is conceptualized not as parting with the self, but as concentratedness. In Fanailova’s narrative poetry, this concentratedness means grasping one’s own state before and after metamorphosis, the collision of not two temporal but two ontological perspectives. Fanailova addresses the experience of dying in the key of both religious meditation and the constant violence of images, which are cynical in the current media sphere. Immortality is then understood not as a change of existential identity coding, but as the acquisition of a distinctive first-person utterance that requires the recognition of another’s pain, and thus a special politics of relationship with another person

    L’immagine di Apollo nell’Etruria arcaica

The paper focuses on the image of Apollo in archaic Etruria and aims to highlight how, in the reception of a Greek iconographic framework, the selection of figural features is calibrated to emphasise the characters and functions of Etruscan deities assimilated to the god. The images illustrate the Etruscan making of the visual identity of the God, autonomous but consistent with cultic coordinates: the incorporation of the anthropomorphic dimension through Greek iconography constitutes the result of a cultural and religious process which began around the end of the 7th century B.C. and whose logic can be contextualised

    Memory

In a broad sense, memory can be understood as the capacity to preserve, rework, and transmit information over time, a faculty crucial for the construction of identity and for understanding human cognition. This contribution seeks to address the complex question “What is memory?” through a historical and theoretical journey that includes philosophical traditions, twentieth-century psychological theories, and computational models. It also offers an overview of contemporary debates, from mental simulation to mental time travel and embodied approaches. The aim is to highlight the complexity, interdisciplinarity, and central role of memory in the understanding of human cognitive processes

Simultaneous interpreting (with text): impact of condition, speech difficulty, speech rate and visual attention on young professional interpreters’ performance

    No full text
In simultaneous interpreting (SI) with text (SIMTXT), interpreters receive input through auditory (via the speaker) and visual (via the transcript of the speech) channels, rendering the activity multimodal. Whereas some researchers indicate that transcript use may facilitate performance, others claim it may add a layer of complexity to the intricate cognitive processes involved in SI. To fill this research gap, we conducted a quasi-experimental within-subject design study involving 12 English-Dutch junior interpreters to investigate the impact on performance of the condition (SI versus SIMTXT), the speech difficulty, the speech rate and the visual attention allocation to the transcript. The study combined data from eye-tracking glasses (visual attention) and audio recordings (performance). Performance was measured via two methods: Overall Quality Indicator and Problem Trigger Accuracy Rate. Results from a Linear Mixed Model analysis show that interpreting performance was superior in the SIMTXT condition. In addition, high speech rate and speech difficulty negatively affected performance in both conditions, with the extent of the effect depending on the method of measurement. Finally, in SIMTXT, a positive – be it limited – effect of visual attention to the transcript on performance was established, although a great variability was observed between the participants

Advanced Theory of Mind and Quality of Life in School-aged Children: The Mediating Role of Coping Strategies and Resilience

    No full text
Research shows that school-aged children with higher levels of Advanced Theory of Mind (AToM) perceive a better quality of life, use more adaptive coping strategies, and exhibit greater resilience than children with lower levels of AToM. This study explored the relationships among these constructs in 332 fourth- and fifth-grade children (M = 10 years, SD = 7 months) based in north-eastern Italy, using self-report questionnaires. Results showed that higher AToM was linked to greater quality of life and resilience, and to lower use of trivializing and externalizing coping. Mediation analyses revealed that resilience and externalizing coping fully mediated the AToM–quality of life relationship. Findings underscore the value of fostering theory of mind, resilience, and adaptive coping to support children’s well-being.
