    No full text
Evacuation on ships is an organized procedure that enables the quick and safe abandonment of the vessel in case of danger, such as fire, collision, grounding, or sinking. It is based on pre-prepared plans, regular drills, and appropriate safety equipment. The main goal of evacuation is to protect the lives of everyone on board by efficiently guiding them to lifesaving appliances such as lifeboats and life rafts. The procedures and requirements for evacuation are defined by international regulations, with the most important being International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), which sets safety standards and requires regular drillsthe Life-Saving Appliance (LSA) Code, which prescribes lifesaving equipmentand the International Convention on Standards of Traning, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), which regulates crew training for emergency situations. All ships must be equipped with life jackets for every person on board, clearly marked evacuation routes, and visual and audio signals. However, the success of an evacuation does not rely solely on technical readiness but also on human factors, such as crew training, the ability to remain calm, managing passenger panic, and providing clear and understandable instructions that also take into account language and cultural differences. Regular evacuation drills and thorough preparation of everyone on board are essential to reducing risks and ensuring a successful response in emergency situations

Elements of romantic friendship are present in many nineteenth-century literary works, but at the turn of the century the perception of romantic friendship changed due to the infiltration of sexology into the secular sphere. An analysis of Tavčar’s novella Soror Pia and Marica Nadlišek Bartol’s novel Fatamorgana, both written at the turn of the century, shows the parallel persistence of two different perspectives on romantic friendshipnamely, a positive traditional one and a new one that portrays romantic friendship through either psychopathological discourse or new forms of identity

Background Despite the known benefits of regular physical activity (PA) for a healthy lifestyle and well-being, studies suggest that the level of PA decreases dramatically during adolescence, especially in girls as the most vulnerable group. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between ownership of different active dog breeds, PA, and screen time in adolescents. Methods This cross-sectional study utilized data collected in 2013–2014 as part of the Analysis of Children’s Development in Slovenia (ACDSi) study. The sample included 2789 adolescents (1491 boys) aged 14.8 ± 2.4 years. Adolescent dog ownership, anthropometry, and physical activity (SHAPES questionnaire) were assessed. Results The results showed that family dog ownership is generally associated with increased moderate-to-vigorous PA levels (MVPA) and decreased screen time in girls, but not in boys. This study demonstrated that highly active dog breeds had a stronger association with adolescent MVPA levels and screen time than low and moderately active dog breeds. Girls living in households with a dog had 13 more minutes (95% CI = 0.5–25.3), girls who primarily walked their dog had 21 more minutes (95% CI = 2.2–39.1), and girls who owned highly active dog breeds accumulated 34 more minutes (95% CI = 14.9–51.6) of MVPA per day compared to girls without a dog. Living in a household with a dog increased the odds of reaching the PA recommendations (at least 60 min of MVPA per day) by 39% for girls. These odds increased by 118% for girls who primarily walked the dog. Moreover, owning a moderately active or highly active dog breed increased girls’ odds by 60% and 69%, respectively. Conclusion These novel findings provide us with valuable information that could be an additional tool to improve the lifestyle of this vulnerable group of adolescent girls

This thesis addresses the analysis of communication protocols in distributed systems, where increasing system complexity makes manual analysis unreliable. The objective of the thesis is to develop a software tool that enables formal specification of protocols and their automatic analysis using the Perturbation of Global System States (PGSS) method. Protocols are modeled using deterministic finite automata, while the analysis is based on a systematic exploration of the global state space. The developed tool provides a clear graphical representation of reachable states and transitions, as well as the detection of common errors such as deadlocks, full queues, and undefined message receptions. The correctness of the tool is validated using the Alternating Bit Protocol, with the results confirming both the correctness of the implementation and the practical usefulness of the proposed approach

This thesis explores various aspects of cybersecurity during the development of information systems within the public administration of the Republic of Slovenia. It emphasizes that information systems are essential components of modern public administration, and their security is increasingly critical given the growing cyber threats that can compromise national stability and safety. It begins by clarifying the fundamental concepts of information systems and cybersecurity, followed by an examination of the relevant cybersecurity regulation in both the European Union and Slovenia. It presents modern approaches to integrating security into the development processes of information systems, such as the implementation of static and dynamic code analysis, the use of the DevSecOps approach, the automation of security testing, and advanced data protection techniques, including encryption, anonymization, and pseudonymization. It also covers network protection measures, securing containerized environments, and the use of artificial intelligence and automation in responding to security incidents. Special attention is given to the analysis of security requirements in public procurement documentation for the development of public sector information systems. Four concrete cases are examined from the areas of justice, healthcare, social welfare, and inspection oversight. Based on the analysis, improvement proposals are made, including the early execution of security reviews, centralized identity and access management, and regular penetration testing. The thesis also emphasizes the necessity of systematically incorporating cybersecurity into all phases of information system development, adhering strictly to legislative requirements, and using modern security technologies and practices to ensure a high level of information security in public administration

Predmet analize so romani treh tržaških avtorjev, in sicer Nož in jabolko Ivanke Hergold, Ki od daleč prihajaš v mojo bližino Marka Sosiča in Šepet nevidnega morja, dvanajst tablet svinca Dušana Jelinčiča. This article focuses on the representation of rebellion and freedom in the modern Slovenian Trieste novel from the end of the Second World War to the present. It examines novels by three authors from Trieste: Ivanka Hergold’s Nož in jabolko (Knife and Apple), Marko Sosič’s Ki od daleč prihajaš v mojo bližino (Coming Near Me from Afar), and Dušan Jelinčič’s Šepet nevidnega morja, dvanajst tablet svinca (Whispers of the InvisibleSea, Twelve Lead Tablets). These texts intertwine rebellion and the search for freedom with a solid humanistic imperative, and they are important features of human existence. Both the assertion and the problematization of a possible rebellious, authentic, and fulfilled existence are recognizable

The Estates Theatre in Ljubljana as featured in Franz Franzʼs letters and reports to baron Erberg

    No full text
The history of German-language theatre in Slovenia, unlike that of its Slovenian counterpart, has not been subject to a comprehensive study to date, which makes this article one of the first to position Ljubljana’s Estates Theatre in Slovenian cultural history. Drawing on letters and reports that Franz Franz wrote to Baron Josef Kalasanz von Erberg, the discussion offers an insight into theatre events that took place in the city during the 1830s, when the Estates Theatre was still the only establishment of its kind in Ljubljana, frequented by both German and Slovenian theatre lovers for as long as there was still no separation of the two ethnic groups in the city. Although the Estates Theatre staged both theatre and opera performances, the article focuses on drama production. In the first part, the article presents the theatre’s impresarios, who were responsible for the repertoire and its implementation, and shrewdly navigated financial challenges to maintain the institution in sound financial condition. Then, drawing from the archival material reviewed, it presents Franz’s enthusiasm for drama, explaining that he was not only a regular visitor to the Estates Theatre, but that he also tried acting himself, and that he even translated and adapteda play for the town stage. Franz diligently and regularly supplied Erberg with the theatre program, and he wrote to him about its troupe, the quality of acting, and the number of viewers as well as occasionally about extraordinary events that punctuated the life of the theatre. His reports therefore significantly flesh out the character of the theatre and theatrical life in Ljubljana dur-ing the Biedermeier period. In its second part, the article thoroughly presents a case study of the theatre’s 1835/36 season, during which the impresario Franz Anton Zwoneczek performed not only eight operas but also as many as sixty plays. Even though it is impossible today to judge the quality of the works per-formed, it can nonetheless be established that the repertoire was a mixture of earlier eighteenth-century works and more recent plays from the nineteenth century. In addition to German classics, the productions most often staged were Biedermeier-style works discussing the social conflict related to the excessively low social status of a bride or groom. As may be gathered from the reconstructed theatre program and Franz’s reports, the audience also enjoyed German versions of French melodramas, in which the suffering heroine was rewarded for her virtuousness, and the theatre likewise attracted large audiences with historical plays and their on-stage recreations of Renaissance Italy, Puritan England, or the court of Russian Emperor Peter the Great. These occasionally also met with censorship, such as Friedrich Schiller’s William Tell (Germ. Wilhelm Tell) for its anti-Habsburg note or Victor Hugo’s Angelo for its anti-nobility stance. The Estates Theatre in Ljubljana also staged the plays of the Volkstheater in Vienna, especially Ferdinand Raimund’s magic plays, and Johann Nestroy’s popular Lumpacivagabundus. The repertoire of the Estates Theatre in Ljubljana was extremely rich and diverse, and as such completely on a par with the programs of other theatres across the monarchy. However, because it also attracted Slovenian intellectuals, it is lamentable that the assorted theatre production on Ljubljana’s German stage did not offer Slovenian playwrights an opportunity to present their own stage productions as early as the 1830s
