Tech-Driven Trends: How In-Store Innovations Shape Consumer Choices in Fashion Retail : An analysis based on Uniqlo’s in-store technology and its perceived effect on customers and their purchase intention
This research aims to bridge a gap by exploring how technologies like self-checkouts, digital signage, and an interactive mobile application shape the perception of the in-store experience. Thus, the purpose of this study is to examine the potential challenges of digital interactive in-store technology by examining consumers’ perceptions of it. We do so by using the example of Uniqlo’s in-store technology. The theoretical framework consists of the S-O-R model compiled through the use of emotional and cognitive reactions as well as purchase intention, in relation to in-store technology. A thematic analysis is used to uncover insights from 47 Swedish Uniqlo customers between the ages of 18 and 65+, who have had a recent interaction with a Uniqlo store. The findings revealed that purchase intention was impacted by both the cognitive and emotional reactions through, for example, consumers’ perceived ease of use, sense of control, as well as efficiency in relation to the in-store technology. This study provides valuable insight into how in-store technology is effective in the retailing environment, offering implications for managers and future research
A nightmare dressed like a daydream : Recognizing and responding to benevolent sexism
The matter of targeting sexism is crucial in order to obtain gender equality, yet very little research has been done on how we recognize and react to the particular form of benevolent sexism. As such, the purpose of the study at hand is to investigate when benevolent sexism is recognized, how likable perpetrators of such sexism are perceived to be, and to what extent those who witness instances of such sexism intend to protest it. Taking a deductive quantitative approach, the present study uses independent samples Kruskal-Wallis testing to compare the results of men and women, as well as women observers and women targets (N = 231). Results revealed significant differences between men and observer women with regard to intention to protest, with observer women indicating significantly greater intention to protest, as well as greater likability ascribed to a perpetrator of benevolent sexism by women targets than women observers. Additional effects were mapped, providing further insights into patterns pertaining to recognition of and responses to benevolent sexism, however, further covariate analysis is needed in order to uncover additional central mechanisms and understanding. As such, the study at hand contributes novel findings with regard to gender differences as well as perspective differences in relation to benevolent sexism, while also calling for further work on this topic
Buildings and structures in forest Sami area : Documentation from Murberget's open-air museum and Malå municipality
This paper is a case study with documentation of selected buildings in forest Sami area. Field studies have been carried out at Murberget's open-air museum in Härnösand, in the church town of Malå and at two sites in Malå, Koppsele and Setsele. The main aim of the study is to explore and create understanding for a selection of forest Sami buildings at the visited sites. Survey sketches and sketches are part of the method for creating clear building descriptions. To collect measurements för the sketches we used 3D scanning with Apple iPad’s LiDAR sensor through the Polycam application. Part of the study is to investigate whether this simpler kind of scanning equipment can be used for the collection of measurements in order to make the survey sketches. In addition to 3D scanning and sketches, a smaller archival and literature study has been carried out. The main aim of the study is achieved through descriptions of the buildings in the form of text, images, survey sketches and sketches. The results show that the majority of the buildings were constructed with knowledge of self-locking construction and through skilled craftsmanship. The evaluation showed that the measurements collected with 3D scanning were reliable enough to be able to carry out survey sketches in a building conservation context
Framing the Game: Comparative Media Analysis of the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Public Service Media in Portugal and Sweden
Despites recent growth, women's football still faces differences in media coverage when comparing it with men's football. This study conducts a qualitative framing analysis of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup coverage by public service media outlets in Sweden (SVT) and Portugal (RTP). Using Semetko & Valkenburg (2000) five predefined news frames, the analysis explores how women’s football is framed in these two national contexts. The main research questions and sub-questions of this study are: “What were the differences in media framing between the two countries?”, “How were the frames by Semetko and Valkenburg (2000) applied in the media narratives?”, and “Based on the concepts of media systems and intersectionality, how did these impact the differences in framing?”. The analysis examined 16 articles through the framing analysis and found similar results. The most dominant frames throughout the articles were the conflict frame with a competitive undertone, and the human interest frame. As the articles discuss a highly competitive and emotional journey of partaking in a world cup, having these as the predominant frames is evident. The results of the comparative analysis presented the main differences and similarities of the articles. Their main differences were their focus and language in their articles. RTP connects its audiences on an emotional and cultural basis by using nicknames. Whilst SVT chose an empirical or performance-focused language. While considered to be potential influences on framing, intersectionality and media system concepts were not demonstrated as significant factors. Rather, media narratives seem to be shaped by editorial decisions and cultural storytelling practices. These results underscored that women's football in the Portuguese and Swedish public service media outlets are still dominated by the portrayal of emotional narratives and passion. This further underscores the similarities between journalism and public service media norms within their media environments
A comparison study between 3D TTE and 2D TTE with focus on right ventricular dimension and function
Background: Three-dimensional echocardiography has proven valuable for evaluating the right ventricular, whose complex structure limits 2D assessment. Reference values have been established, and many studies confirm its correlation with Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR), the golden standard for volumetric heart measurements. However, results may vary between software and vendors. This study aimed to evaluate the agreement between 2D and 3D with focus on the right ventricular function and dimension, to help guide equipment calibration. Method: This study prospectively gathered 2D and 3D data from 28 patients who underwent transthoracic echocardiography, from autumn 2024 to spring 2025. The data collected consisted of measurements relating to the right ventricular function and dimension, which were Right Ventricular Dimension 1(RVD1), Tricuspid Annular Plane Systolic Excursion (TAPSE) and Fractional Area Change (FAC). The inclusion criteria for the study were sinus rhythm and good quality of the ultrasound images. Statistical analyses were conducted to assess the agreement between the two methods. Results: There was an agreement between the two methods which varied between the parameters that were analysed. The best agreement was seen for FAC with a difference of -0,3 ± 6,2 % (p>0,05) between the measurement from 2D versus 3D. For TAPSE and RVD1 the difference was 2,6 ± 5,2 mm respectively -4,0 ± 5,2 mm (p<0,05). Conclusion: FAC demonstrates a promising level of agreement between 2D and 3D measurements, while both TAPSE and RVD1 showed significant under- and overestimations. These discrepancies highlight the need for equipment calibration to ensure reliable measurement and to support broader clinical use of the method.
This study examines a collection of ancient Greek vases which was excavated on the Italian estate of Canino between the years 1828 and 1846, by the Prince and Princess of Canino, Lucien Bonaparte and Alexandrine de Bleschamp. The study aims to analyse the dual dimensions of the collection, its material and conceptual compositions in a diachronic approach. By employing a multidisciplinary framework of actor-network-theory, ontological multiplicity, and value as an illustration, the thesis examines the influence of actors in the relational existence of the Canino Collection. The thesis shows how the process of interaction with the material and the prioritization of in addition to production of values by actors applied to the collection have an implicit effect on the collection's trajectory during the examined period. The study argues that the fleeting, conceptual aspect of the collection, reliant on the prioritization of actors, has a greater impact on its purpose in practical utilization than materiality itself.
Growth Potential for the Chosen People: How are People Cultivated? : The Use of Metaphors in Isaiah 5, Romans 11 and John 15 in the Light of Cognitive Metaphor Theory and Blending Theory
This thesis explores plant metaphors in Isaiah 5, Romans 11 and John 15 using cognitive metaphor theory. Blending theory is used as theoretical background and associated commonplaces bring forward the understanding of when and in which ways the metaphors overlap eachother. The research questions concern the conceptual metaphors which can be found in each text, and attempt to approach the contexts that first received the metaphorical expressions – as far as the time between the origin of the texts and the present day allows. Moreover, they aim to overview the change that happens as time passes and in which ways the metaphors can be assumed to be constants through the time and contexts of the Bible. The conceptual metaphors identified are THE PEOPLE IS (PART OF) A PLANT, GOD IS A FARMER, GOD (JESUS) IS A PLANT and GOD IS A JUDGE, and it becomes clear that they are relatively constant over the years – as long as the legal system, the growing of wine and olives, and the relationship between God and the people still mean roughly the same thing in the cultures. To read the metaphors in a context existing two thousand years later requires a different level of preparatory work in to understand what the metaphors meant to the recipients of the past – and through that also how we can understand them today
Fluids from deep subducted sediments control the seismic behavior of the Lesser Antilles megathrust
At subduction zones, downgoing topographic features exert first-order structural and hydrologic effect on the plate boundary and the upper plate. Such process has been rarely documented by clear observations, especially at great depths, and it remains elusive how the altered structural and physical characteristics of the upper plate control seismogenic behavior and tectonic evolution of margins. Here, we present a reprocessed multichannel seismic (MCS) profile together with bathymetry and earthquake data in the central Lesser Antilles. A bright reflector is imaged at 15-18 km depth at the southern flank of the Tiburon ridge and interpreted to represent a shallow fluid-rich decollement warped over the rough topography, where the underlying materials consist largely of both oceanic sediments identical to those accreted at the Barbados prism and basement fragments from basal erosion. Our results suggest that fluids are expelled upward from the band of subducted sediments, leading to a NW-SE elongated zone of hydrofractured and weakened crust above a serpentinized mantle corner coinciding with a prominent aseismic corridor. The high interplate seismic activity offshore Martinique at ~30-65 km depths may correspond to deeply subducted indurated sediments that act as a strong asperity on the plate interface
