The purpose of this paper is to highlight the central role of the problem of divisibility of the soul in the two approaches under which the Aristotelian psychological research is presented: hylomorphism and cardiocentrism. While the first states that the soul is the form or essence of the whole body, the second advocates the location of the soul in the heart, because affirms that there are the principles of the parts of the soul. This could lead to assume that there is an incompatibility between the two approaches, since it would make no sense to say that the soul is in the whole body and, at the same time, declare that is found exclusively in one of its specific organs. For this reason, the thesis of this paper is that the pneuma provides the key to reconciling the two approaches, inasmuch as it is the instrument used by the parts of the soul to deploy its functions throughout the body. The heart, as a material seat of this parts, spreads the pneuma as blood throughout the body; and this, until no ends this vital function, preserves its essence, raison d’etre of its existence. Thus hylomorphism is supported by cardiocentrism.
The paper reassesses the role and function of the Iliadic ἵστωρ (Il XVIII 490-508; XXIII 448- 508) by focusing on previously overlooked narrative and linguistic details and drawing parallelisms between both scenes. The paper argues that the most fundamental cognitive operation performed by the ἵστωρ entails confining to memory and recording the ‘particulars’ of words spoken at a given time and in a specific context. This social function is closely connected to the centrality of memory in the early Greek world, oath-taking and the psychodynamics of orality, as evidenced by invocations to the Gods in the Homeric poems as well as later uses of the word in the context of oaths and solemn vows.
It is probable that no other time in History has brought misogyny to a higher level than that which manifested itself in the so called Tridentine culture. During this period, feminine taming would be a matter of central importance for both religious and lay authorities, so that any deviation from the desired feminine tasks (nun-daughter-wife-mother)—somehow considered “canonical”—could be severely punished. Undoubtedly, among the vilest professions that a decent woman could take was being an actress. It was considered so evil, so low, that in most cases women had to change their names to prevent social condemnation from reaching their own families. Unlike many other women of her time, Isabella Canali Andreini (Padua, 1562 - Lyon, 1604), was able to perform both on the stage and as a writer using her real name until her death. In the cultural context of the many Italian academies of the second half of the sixteenth century, Isabella could also build a true patronage network that would help her not only escape the persecutions of those times, but also to uphold her desire to leave her own legacy by means of writing. The aim of this work will be, then, to try to reconstruct the route taken by Isabella in the construction of the aforementioned network, and to examine the results obtained by her work as an academic.

In 1557, Protestant groups were discovered in Seville and Valladolid. The Peace of Augsburg had ratified the ascription of an important part of the Empire to the new Lutheran creed, but the discoveries of the groups in Seville and Valladolid showed that Spain was threatened with the same heresy. The emperor is as much or more at fault than his son for the severe repression of Spanish Protestantism. Charles V, turning a deaf ear to the advice of his confessor, violated the Privilege granted in 1477 by his great-grandfather Charles the Bold, who had granted great autonomy to the Low Countries. The reaction to the problems discovered in Valladolid and Seville was neither new for the emperor or something Charles V had not been confronted with before. There had already been many lamentable analogous situations, with alarming effects, in the Flemish territories.

My main purpose in this paper is to defend and to illustrate the influence of El maestro de danzar, a comedy by Lope de Vega, on the homonymous play by Calderón, an issue which has divided opinion among critics. A careful study of both texts shows undeniable similarities, which demonstrate the Calderón’s debt to Lope. In the following article I will describe in detail which passages have been rewritten and reused in Calderón’s play. At the same time, I will deal with the circumstances and reasons that may have led Calderón to accomplish this rewriting process, which the playwright did not conceal, but he openly stated by using the same title as Lope.
Narrative elements of the dramatic text
In this article we study the narrative elements of the dramatic text give way to the importance of narrative in the new drama. Apparently, one of the busiest roads of the theatre since the late nineteenth century is its busy narrativization, as Garcia Barrientos says. The tradition then introduces the concept of Brechtian “epicisation” and, as an alternative to this novelization and epicisation, J. P. Sarrazac raises the concept of “rhapsody”. Contemporary authors explore the limits of narrative in the new drama. Moreover, dramaturgy is forever predramatical for it returns to its origins and rich narrative or lyrical forms. In the XXI century genres merge and pollute more than ever
The Shadow of Luther in Japan. On "nembutsu" according to the Missionarie’s Vision in the 16th Century
The first real approach between Buddhism and Christianity took place in sixteenth century Japan during the attempted evangelization of that country by European missionaries. In that period several several factors, such as Jesuits’ thought and formation, the influence of the Counter-reform in Europe, and last but not least the impulse created in previous centuries of a Christianity backed Empire, drove religious European orders to pagan lands to proselytize natives and in the case of Japan to identify and compare Buddhist sects with Protestant doctrines, and mainly with the Lutheran doctrine. Through an analysis of Jesuit documentation founded, this article examines one of the comparisons that the first missionaries explained in their reports, i.e. analogies between Buddhism of the Pure Land sect, or Jōdo Shinshū, with the theories of Luther. This paper discusses in detail how the Jesuits evaluated ejaculatory prayers used by main Buddhist sect, such as it was the nembutsu, or the repetitive recitation of Amida Buddha’s name, and it also delves in their research and the interpretation of such prayers
