Get PDFEsta investigación plantea cómo una nueva lectura del paisaje de Matsushima, Amanohashidate y Miyajima, el llamado Nihon Sankei, basada en la construcción cognitiva del ser humano desde la perspectiva relacional, apoyándonos en los posicionamientos de la psicología social de Kenneth J. Gergen. Desde esta mirada el Nihon Sankei y su proceso de construcción identitaria nacional, siguiendo lo que Ikegami Eiko denomina cognitive associational map, “alcanza pleno significado.This research offers a new reading of Nihon Sankei, a term that encompasses the landscapes of Matsushima, Amanohashidate and Miyajima. This reading is based on the cognitive construction of the human being, from the relational perspective relying on the social psychology perspective by Kenneth J. Gergen, and following the idea of “cognitive associational map” by Ikegami Eiko. Under this perspective, the relevance of Nihon Sankei in the configuration of Japan’s national identity acquires its full meaning
Poetry and Culture of Travel: A Journey through the Classical Japanese Period
Get PDFEn este trabajo se pretende indagar sobre la cultura de viaje que había surgido en el periodo clásico de Japón, concretamente, durante el periodo Asuka y Nara mientras el proceso sociopolítico del país se consolidaba a pasos gigantescos para establecer una infraestructura de rutas marítimas y terrenales. Los motivos y las consecuencias de los viajes de ocio o “turismo” que se realizaban entre los siglos VI y VIII no difieren mucho de lo que podríamos comprender hoy en día; pero encontramos, también, aquellos viajes forzosos que empujaban al viajero indefenso a tierras desconocidas y lejos de su hogar. La emoción y la vulnerabilidad iban de la mano en esas travesías y fueron recogidas en su mayoría en la poesía. Sus testimonios más relevantes los podemos encontrar en los poemas de la antología Man’yōshū, una obra capaz de generar en la actualidad otro tipo de viaje a la inversa, el del turismo que recorre los lugares mencionados en los poemas de la antología.This paper aims to investigate the culture of travel that emerged in the classical period of Japan, specifically, during the Asuka and Nara period, while the socio-political process of the country was rapidly consolidating to establish an infrastructure of maritime and terrestrial routes. The reasons and consequences of these leisure trips, or “tourism”, that took place between the sixth and eighth centuries do not differ much from what we could understand today. However, there existed also forced journeys that took the helpless traveler to unknown territories, far from home. Emotion and vulnerability went hand in hand in these journeys, which were captured in poetry. The most relevant testimonies can be found in the poems of the Man’yōshū, an anthology that has been capable of generating twelve centuries later another type of journey in reverse: the tourist visitors who travel to the places mentioned in the poems in the anthology
Interpreting Traditional Japanese Poetry: Text, Context, Intertext
Get PDFEste ensayo analiza el campo de la poesía tradicional japonesa (waka 和歌) desde la perspectiva del lector/espectador y de la experiencia literaria generada, con el objetivo de investigar las formas en las que la presentación de los poemas afecta sus posibilidades interpretativas. En primer lugar, se discuten los aspectos formales del texto, que son analizados en términos de su estilo y recursos poéticos. Luego, la génesis social de los poemas es descrita en términos de su significado cultural, el uso de poemas waka como forma de comunicación estándar y en particular la práctica común de presentar los poemas junto a prefacios explicativos (kotobagaki 詞書), a menudo de naturaleza narrativa. Una distinción conceptual entre tema, tópico y ocasión posibilita un análisis más profundo de las posibilidades narrativas demostradas por la elección de antologistas y dramaturgos de crear nuevos contextos narrativos (o de eliminarlos). A modo de conclusión, se muestra cómo la fricción entre el texto en sí y el contexto en el que es presentado subyace cada nuevo acto de lectura de waka y se convierte en una fuente de posibilidades interpretativas de gran fertilidad estética.Reader–Response and other reader-centered criticism is applied to the field of Japanese Traditional Poetry (waka 和歌) with the aim of investigating the ways in which the presentation of poems affects their interpretative possibilities. Firstly, the formal properties of the text are analyzed in terms of style and poetic devices. Secondly, the social genesis of the poems is described in terms of their social significance, the use of poetry as the default way of communication, and particularly the extended practice of presenting the poems together with explanatory headnotes (kotobagaki 詞書), often of narrative nature, describing its genetic occasion. A theoretical distinction between theme, topic, and occasion leads to a deeper analysis of these narrative possibilities seen in the anthologists’ and playwright’s choice to create new narrative contexts or to purposefully eliminate them. As a conclusion, it is shown how the friction between the text itself and its given context underlies every act of reading waka, as a source of interpretative possibilities of great aesthetic fertility
Ideología de género en las narrativas "quirky" del cine americano: el estereotipo de la manic "pixie dream girl"
Get PDFSeven years ago, James MacDowell (2010) detected a new aesthetic and narrative sensitivity pertaining to American independent cinema, characterized by a balance between ironic distance and emotional sincerity. Since the publication of McDowell’s article, the word quirky became quickly associated with the works of directors such as Jim Jarmusch, Wes Anderson or Michel Gondry, turning into a catchphrase that has been used to describe every film protagonized by eccentric characters, utilizing a perfectionist visual language, and endowed with a certain naïveté in the tone and treatment of pathetic situations. These productions appeal to the sentimentality of a millennial audience that is no longer as cynical or politically engaged as their predecessors; in fact, the narrative and formal transgressions that are typical of quirky productions tend to stay on the surface, never questioning issues of gender, race, or class. In this sense, the Manic Pixie Dream Girl stereotype constitutes a perfect example of the quirky aesthetics; its ambivalent relationship with postfeminist ideologies, incorporating a neoliberal sexual freedom to a traditional performance of femininity becomes a sign of identity rather than a political stance, while the stereotype’s childish look and naive attitude respond to the exaltation of ingenuity that happens in quirky. On the other hand, the fact that typical Manic Pixie Dream Girls such as Summer ([500] Days of Summer) or Ruby Sparks are more defined in terms of their cultural preferences and outfits than by their fears or ambitions also aligns with the postmodern prevalence of the form that characterizes quirky productions.Han pasado ya siete años desde que en 2010 James MacDowell detectara una nueva sensibilidad estética y narrativa dentro del cine independiente estadounidense, caracterizada por el equilibrio tonal entre el distanciamiento irónico y la sinceridad emocional. Desde entonces, la palabra quirky (peculiar en inglés) se ha asociado a las producciones de directores como Jim Jarmusch, Wes Anderson, o Michel Gondry, convirtiéndose en un adjetivo comodín aplicado a cualquier película protagonizada por personajes excéntricos, dotada de un lenguaje visual perfeccionista, y con una cierta ingenuidad infantil en el tono y en el trato de las situaciones. Estas producciones apelan a la sentimentalidad de un espectador millennial que ya no es tan cínico ni tan comprometido políticamente como sus antecesores; de hecho, las transgresiones narrativas y formales que caracterizan lo quirky nunca llegan al terreno de lo político para plantearse cuestiones de género, raza, o clase, sino que se quedan en la superficie. En este sentido, el estereotipo de la Manic Pixie Dream Girl es perfecto exponente de esta estética de lo peculiar; su ambivalente relación con las ideologías postfeministas (sexualidad neoliberal vs feminidad tradicional) es más una seña de identidad que fruto de un compromiso político, mientras que su aspecto aniñado y su actitud naïve responden a esa ingenuidad buscada de la sensibilidad quirky. Asimismo, la falta de profundidad de Manic Pixie Dream Girls paradigmáticas como Summer (500 días juntos) o Ruby Sparks, definidas más por sus gustos musicales o su manera de vestir que por sus ambiciones o miedos responde al predominio postmoderno de la forma que caracteriza la estética quirky
Posmodernidad: Crisis? What crisis?
Get PDFThe present article proposes a revision of the film look around the crisis of postmodernity. Taking the analysis of prominent postmodern sociologists as a starting point, the dominant film trends of the 80s and 90s are reviewed to verify, finally, the absence of a sufficiently critical position in the face of the crisis of postmodern society. In addition, the work deals with the experimentation of a turn in this tendency at the beginning of the millennium, expressed in the multiplex cinema as an exponent of this change. Finally, it concludes with the continuation of this turn and the appearance of a new social sensibility in the cinematographic creation, characterized by the epic renaissance and neo-romanticism as predominant notesEl artículo propone una revisión de la mirada fílmica en torno a la crisis de la posmodernidad. Tomando como punto de partida el análisis de sociólogos posmodernos de relieve, se repasan las tendencias fílmicas dominantes de los 80 y 90 para verificar, finalmente, la ausencia de una postura suficientemente crítica ante la crisis de la sociedad posmoderna. Además, el trabajo atiende a la experimentación de un giro en esta tendencia a comienzos del milenio, expresada en el cine múltiplex como exponente de este cambio. Por último, se concluye con la continuación de este viraje y la aparición de una nueva sensibilidad social en la creación cinematográfica, caracterizada por el renacimiento épico y el neoromanticismo como notas predominantes

Get PDFThe object of study of this article is to analyze in a quantitative and qualitative way the Photographic Album of the Palentina Mountain. Album that collects part of the photographs that were exhibited in an exhibition that bears the same title, and that took place in the Regional House of Palencia in Madrid in 1957. In this exhibition, many photographers from Palencia participated, notably highlighting the participation of the photographer and ethnologist Piedad Isla (1926-2009), being this the only woman who participated in the exhibition. The objective of this article, on the one hand, is to reclaim the figure of Piedad Isla, and on the other, to claim the role of ethnographic photography as a study and recognition of one’s own culture.El objeto de estudio de este artículo es analizar de forma cuantitativa y cualitativa el Álbum fotográfico de la Montaña Palentina. Álbum que recoge parte de las fotografías que fueron exhibidas en una exposición que lleva el mismo título, y que tuvo lugar en la Casa Regional de Palencia de Madrid en 1957. En dicha exposición intervinieron numerosos fotógrafos palentinos, destacando notablemente la participación de la fotógrafa y etnóloga Piedad Isla (1926-2009), siendo esta la única mujer en la muestra. El objetivo de este artículo, por un lado es reivindicar la figura de Piedad Isla, y por otro, reivindicar el papel de la fotografía etnográfica como estudio y reconocimiento de la cultura propia

Get PDFThis article proposes a new perspective to approach the study of the Francoism by using the analysis of the elections to select both the councillors who represented the heads of families at the city councils and the members of the Spanish Cortes who represented the families. To do this, the paper combines both historical methodology and social science one, although prioritizing the first of them, establishing the criteria to be followed to properly define the subject of research and to deepen it. Therefore, the article defines a field of research hitherto little researched by Francoist dictatorship literature and brings together both research and bibliography coming from the historiography as well as the political science.Este artículo pretende plantear una nueva perspectiva historiográfica desde la que aproximarse al estudio del franquismo utilizando el análisis de las elecciones a concejales de representación familiar y a procuradores en Cortes en representación de las familias. Para ello, se combinan tanto la metodología histórica como la procedente de las ciencias sociales, aunque priorizando la primera de ellas, estableciéndose los criterios a seguir para definir adecuadamente el sujeto de investigación y para profundizar en él posteriormente. Por lo tanto, el artículo define un campo de investigación hasta ahora escasamente transitado en el estudio de la dictadura franquista conectando investigaciones y bibliografía procedentes tanto de la historiografía como de la ciencia política
La sociología de la infancia y Bourdieu: diálogos sobre el campo en los países hispano-hablantes
No full textThe Sociology of Childhood was the first discipline to focus on children as social actors and to consider childhood as part of the social structure. This sociological perspective requires epistemological, ethical and methodological implications, at the same time as it demands transformations in the way of analyzing childhood and the role of children in society. To consider the Sociology of Childhood as a scientific field that has its own structure within a larger field, such as Sociology, points out the need to explore Bourdieu's work in order to understand how the structuring of a field occurs. In dialogue with this author we analyze the way in which an object of study has come to be conformed as a scientific field, as is the Sociology of Childhood. This has happened especially in the Anglo-Saxon area, but also in Latin America and Spain, whose main productions are identified, classified, analyzed and compared in this article. Some coincidences were found in the main themes in English and Spanish production, such as discussions related to the rights of citizenship of children. At the same time, in Spanish-speaking productions, there are concerns about studying the situation of "childhood at the margin", an interest related to specific research demand in this context.La Sociología de la infancia fue la primera disciplina que se dedicó a mirar a los niños y niñas como actores sociales y considerar la infancia como parte de la estructura social. Esta mirada sociológica conlleva implicaciones epistemológicas, éticas y metodológicas, a la vez que demanda transformaciones en la manera de analizar la infancia y el papel de los niños/as en la sociedad. Pensar la Sociología de la infancia como un campo científico que tiene una estructura propia dentro de un campo mayor, como es la Sociología, apunta la necesidad de recorrer la obra de Bourdieu con la finalidad de comprender cómo ocurre la estructuración de un campo. En diálogo con este autor se analiza la forma en la que un objeto de estudio ha venido a conformarse como un campo científico, como es la Sociología de la infancia. Esto ha sucedido especialmente en el ámbito anglosajón, pero también en el de América Latina y España, cuyas principales producciones se identifican, clasifican, analizan y comparan en este artículo. Se han encontrado coincidencias en los temas consagrados en la literatura en inglés y en español, como son los que se refieren a los derechos de ciudadanía de niñas y niños. A la vez, en la producción de habla hispana, aparece la inquietud por estudiar la situación de la “niñez en el margen”, interés relacionado con las necesidades específicas de investigación en este contexto
