    No full text
This booklet is the student-facing resource used to support their excavation research. The booklet provides information on each of the artefacts and ecofacts that the students may find in their stratigraphic unit, presented using clear, age-appropriate language. The student resource booklet utilises a low floor high ceiling approach, supporting students to understand the information at the level that they are at.Deep Time Detectives: Discover, Analyse, Interpret. This booklet has been designed to support you to more confidently teach Australia’s deep time histories of people and Country. In the booklet, you will find a range of core foundational knowledge linked to archaeology and palaeoecology, including artefact analysis, dating techniques, principles of stratigraphy, and collaborative archaeological practice. The booklet also provides explicit instructions on running the Deep Time Detectives program, with options for formative and summative assessments with worked examples included. You will also find detailed summaries of current archaeological and palaeoecological research relating to each of the four time periods to help you frame classroom discussions and support student learning. If you have trouble printing the complete booklet, please print the version with the appendices removed. The appendices showing the worked examples of the recording forms and interpretation report are available separately in this collection. While we have designed these resources around the Australian Curriculum (2022) Year 7 History unit ‘deep time history of Australia’, they are also relevant to many science and geography units from Year 4 to Year 10. Deep Time Detectives is also well suited to support the teaching and learning of the cross-curriculum priority of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures.Deep Time Detectives: Discover, Analyse, Interpret. Anaesthetic emergence agitation in adults following general surgery: A scoping review

    No full text
Background: Anaesthetic emergence is the patient's transition from general anaesthetic until they are alert and in full control of vital reflexes. It is during this transition that significant complications, including anaesthetic emergence agitation, may occur. A preliminary search did not identify any research investigating adults who undergo anaesthetic emergence in critical care settings. Objectives: To map the post-anaesthetic literature reporting outcomes, risk factors, and management of adult patients admitted directly to a critical care unit, who develop emergence agitation, and to describe the implications for clinical practice. Methods: The scoping review was registered at https://osf.io/spwx5/ and conducted using the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology, with the framework of Population, Concept and Context. Search terms including agitation, anaesthetic, emergence, postoperative and surgery. Results: Twenty-five articles were identified and were eligible for data extraction. Risk factors included co-morbid conditions, anaesthetic agents and the presence of in-situ invasive devices. Studies varied regarding design and patient assessment tools. Data were reported from one or more of eight observation timepoints along the emergence continuum, from end-anaesthetic until post anaesthetic care unit discharge. No studies investigated patients with direct postoperative admission to critical care settings. Conclusions: This review has characterised the emergence continuum. The variations between studies has highlighted the necessity to reach future consensus regarding emergence definition and measurement. A critical gap was identified regarding recommendations for prevention and management of emergence agitation for patients admitted directly to a critical care unit.</p

The report indicates a systemic need for a human-centered journalism industry. Whether it is calling for more, equity, inclusion, and diversity in boardrooms and newsrooms; favoring a diversified media ecosystem over monopolies and authoritative regimes; or calling for ownership and funding models that focus on providing valuable civic information for the sake of a healthy democracy, the authors repeatedly identified the possible perils of maintaining the current status quo in journalism.https://journalisminnovation.ca/2025/02/12/report-on-rethinking-media-funding-innovation-and-policy-now-in-french/English version: https://journalisminnovation.ca/2024/07/09/novel-directions-in-media-innovation-and-funding/ </p

Sustainability assurance quality and board gender diversity: moderating role of assurance level and provider type on the extent of assurance procedures

    No full text
Purpose: This study aims to investigate the relationship between board gender diversity and the choice of assurance procedures used in sustainability assurance engagements. It also examines whether this relationship is dependent on the type of assurer and if it is particularly strong in reasonable assurance compared to limited assurance engagements. The concept of managerial capture is used to guide the analysis. Design/methodology/approach: This study uses a sample of Global Fortune 500 firms. Data on sustainability assurance procedures and related variables were manually collected from sustainability reports, while financial data were obtained from the Refinitiv Eikon database. The study uses ordinary least square estimation model with fixed effects, a difference-in-difference research design and the two-stage Instrumental variable method to analyse the data set. Findings: The findings of this study reveal that an increase in board gender diversity is associated with the use of a broader range of sustainability assurance procedures. This relationship is stronger when the assurers are accountants. Moreover, when sustainability assurance requires reasonable assurance, its interaction with board gender diversity results in the use of a broader range of sustainability assurance procedures. Practical implications: The findings provide policymakers with a better understanding of the complementary synergies of corporate governance and assurance practitioner attributes that can be exploited for high-quality sustainability assurance engagements. Social implications: Aligning board gender diversity with sustainability assurance has the potential to enhance the credibility of sustainability reports and mitigate corporate greenwashing for relevant stakeholders. Originality/value: The study uses a direct measurement proxy for assurance procedures that ensure the capturing of the nature and extent of assurance procedures used.</p
