The Mystery of the Chernihiv Beast
No full textДревній Чернігів приховує в собі багато таємниць. Одна із них – Чернігівський звір – елемент декору, орнамент, який був розміщений на капітелі Борисоглібського собору. Досі ведуться дискусії, що це за звір такий: чи потрапив він у місто випадково, чи несе особливий сенс для нас, і кого ж він таки зображав? Мета статті – дослідити походження та значення Чернігівського звіра, а також його зв’язок із ширшими культурними та релігійними традиціями того часу. Використані методи дослідження: іконографічний – для виявлення стилістичних особливостей зображень, історико-культурний – для контекстуалізації символіки в межах середньовічної східнослов’янської та іранської традицій, а також порівняльний метод для оцінки аналогічних образів в інших регіонах. Ці методи дозволяють ідентифікувати Чернігівського звіра як Семаргла, який функціонував у культовій практиці раннього Середньовіччя східних слов’ян, а також провести паралель з іранською релігійною традицією.
Наукова новизна роботи полягає в детальному аналізі Чернігівського звіра як елемента давньослов’янського міфологічного комплексу та проведенні чіткої паралелі між зображенням з Борисоглібського собору та гербом держави Сасанидів. Дослідження робить внесок у розширення розуміння взаємодії східнослов’янської, іранської та інших кочових культур. Основні висновки дослідження: Чернігівський звір – це найвірогідніше зображення язичницького бога Семаргла, який є символом взаємодії різних культурних традицій та елементом впливу східної (іранської) культури на східних слов’ян. Його зображення на християнському храмі, імовірно, стало даниною минулим дохристиянським віруванням чернігівців та відповідає західній архітектурній традиції. Проте, міфічну істоту помістили на місцевий храм. Характер зв’язків дохристиянського Чернігова та держави Сасанидів, із гербу якої був змальований Чернігівський звір, по требує додаткових досліджень.Ancient Chernihiv hides many mysteries. One of them is the Chernihiv beast – a decorative element, an ornament, which was placed on the capitol of the Borisoglibsky cathedral. There are still debates about what kind of beast it is: whether it came to the city by chance, or whether it carries special meaning for us, and who it actually depicts? The purpose of the publication is to investigate origins and significance of the Chernihiv beast, as well as its connection to broader cultural and religious traditions of the time. The article uses the following research methods: iconographic method to identify the stylistic features of the images, historical-cultural method to contextualize the symbolism within the framework of medieval East Slavic and Iranian traditions, as well as a comparative method to assess similar images in other regions. These methods allow identifying the Chernihiv beast as Semargl, which functioned in the cultic practices of early medieval East Slavs, and drawing a parallel with the Iranian religious tradition. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the detailed analysis of the Chernihiv beast as an element of the ancient Slavic mythological complex and in establishing a clear parallel between the image from the Borisoglibsky cathedral and the coat of arms of the Sassanid empire. The work contributes to the expansion of the understanding of the interaction between East Slavic, Iranian, and other nomadic cultures. The main conclusions of the study are that the Chernihiv beast is most likely an image of the pagan god Semargl, who symbolizes the interaction of different cultural traditions and is an element of the influence of Eastern (Iranian) culture on the East Slavs. Its depiction on a Christian temple likely represents a tribute to the past beliefs of Chernihiv people and aligns with Western architectural tradition. However, the mythical creature was placed on a local temple. The nature of connections between pre-Christian Chernihiv and Sassanid state, from whose coat of arms the Chernihiv beast was modeled, requires further research
Determination of elastic wave transmission coefficient in a metamaterial with lattices of doubly-periodic elliptical cracks
No full textРозглянуто тривимірну задачу поширення гармонічної поздовжньої хвилі у пружному просторі з двоперіодичними масивами еліптичних тріщин за їх укладання в скінченний набір рівновіддалених паралельних квадратних ґраток. У частотній області отримано граничне інтегральне рівняння стосовно розкриття відлікової тріщини в унітарній комірці двоперіодичної структури за допомогою відповідної функції Гріна. Для стійкості числових розрахунків використано подання функції Гріна в експоненціально збіжній формі та здійснено регуляризацію цієї функції шляхом залучення замкнутих значень спеціальних ґраткових сум. Числове розв’язання рівняння виконано за допомогою методу відображень. Обчислення коефіцієнта проходження хвиль у метаматеріалі з поодинокою ґраткою тріщин забезпечено підстановкою граничноелементних розв’язків у співвідношення апроксимації віддаленого від ґраткового масиву хвильового поля. Для випадку множинних ґраток цей коефіцієнт визначено на основі широкопросторової еквідистантної моделі хвильового перенесення.The three-dimensional problem of propagation of harmonic longitudinal waves in an elastic solid containing double-periodic arrays of elliptical cracks located in a finite set of equidistant parallel square lattices is considered. In the frequency domain, a boundary integral equation for the reference crack opening in the unit cell of the double-periodic structure is obtained using the appropriate Green’s function. For the stability of numerical calculations, the Green’s function is represented in an exponentially convergent form, and its regularization is achieved by employing closed-form expressions for special lattice sums. The numerical solution of the equation is carried out using the mapping method. The wave transmission coefficient in a metamaterial with a single crack in the lattice is calculated by substituting the boundary element solutions into approximation relations for the wave field distant from the lattice. In the case of multiple lattices, this coefficient is determined based on a wide-space equidistant model of wave propagation

Biblical allusions in the film «Shadows of forgotten ancestors » by S. Paradjanov
No full textМета дослідження – проаналізувати деякі кіноалюзії на біблійні твори у стрічці С. Параджанова «Тіні забутих предків» з огляду на їхнє художнє втілення та функціонування у кінотворі. Наукова новизна: біблійні алюзії спостерігаються у кількох сценах кінотвору. У сцені безтурботного поводження юних Івана та Марічки є підстави говорити про режисерську алюзію на перебування Адама та Єви в райському саду до гріхопадіння. У сцені споглядання Іваном та Марічкою за яскравою зіркою в небі можна угледіти режисерський натяк на дороговказну зірку, яка освячувала мудрецям шлях до хліву, де щойно народився Христос. У сцені, в якій Марічка знімає заблукалу вівцю з небезпечної скелі, проглядається євангельська притча про Доброго Пастиря. А у видінні Івана про те, що Христос знімає з голови Свій терновий вінець, варто говорити про очевидне переосмислення євангельської розповіді про розп’яття Христа. У сцені зваблення Палагною Івана помітна ще одна алюзія на Адама і Єву. Нарешті, у кривавих конях, які з’являються в кадрі в момент вбивства старого Палійчука, легко впізнаються вершники Апокаліпсису з Одкровення Іоанна Богослова.
Висновки: проаналізовані біблійні натяки стають помітними кіномазками, за допомогою яких режисер проводить інтертекстуальні паралелі із сакральним християнським першоджерелом.The purpose of the publication is to analyze some cinematic allusions to biblical works in the S. Parajanov ʼs film «Shadows of forgotten ancestors» in view of their artistic embodiment and functioning in the film. Scientific novelty: Biblical allusions are observed in several scenes of the film. In the scene of young Ivan and Marichkaʼs carefree behaviour, there are grounds to talk about the directorʼs allusion to Adam and Eveʼs stay in the Garden of Eden before the fall. In the scene of Ivan and Marichka gaze at the bright star in the sky, it subtly suggests the guiding star that led the wise men to the stable where Christ had just been born. In the scene in which Marichka rescues a lost sheep from a dangerous cliff, we can see echoes to the Gospel parable of the Good Shepherd. And Ivan’s vision of Christ removing the crown of thorns from His head invites a reinterpretation of the Gospel narrative surrounding Christ’s crucifixion. In the scene of Palagnaʼs seduction of Ivan, there is another allusion to Adam and Eve. Finally, the bloody horses that appear in the frame at the moment of the old man Paliychukʼs murder are easily recognisable as the horsemen of the Apocalypse from the Revelation of John the Evangelist.
Conclusions: analyzed biblical allusions become noticeable film strokes, with the help of which the director draws intertextual parallels with the sacred Christian primary source

Frantsevich Institute for Problems of Materials Science of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on the creation and technological development of ferroelectric nanomaterials based on simple oxides and nitrides, including films, particles, and their composites with polymeric materials. Thanks to these works, a new area of scientific research “silicon-compatible nanoferroelectrics” was initiated and a new group of ferroelectric nanomaterials was proposed, which are able to meet the needs of the modern semiconductor device manufacturing industry
