Overall, this research highlights the importance of ongoing scientific investigation and public education to ensure the safe and informed adoption of emerging wireless technologies.</p

    Design and analysis of unipolar magnetic coupler with improved performance for dynamic wireless power transfer applications

    The proposed research aims to develop a magnetic coupler with improved performance characteristics for static and dynamic inductive power transfer electric vehicle charging applications. The designed magnetic coupler allows maximum power transfer at an efficiency of around 93%. The proposed magnetic coupler achieves a maximum coupling coefficient with 98% misalignment tolerance in static charging applications. The dynamic track with multiple transmitters offers very low mutual inductance with neighboring transmitters and the output fluctuations are around 1.3%. These superior characteristics make the proposed design compete both conventional and modern magnetic couplers.</p

    Management of construction and demolition waste is a common issue across all Australian jurisdictions. This research investigated the feasibility of using construction and demolition waste as an alternative filler material in stone column applications. An innovative semi-rigid inclusion column system is introduced, which enhances the adaptability and performance of ground inclusion column techniques in various soil environments by stabilising construction and demolition waste with green binders. This approach provides a new pathway for repurposing construction and demolition waste from landfills into valuable construction materials, contributing to the circular economy.</p

    A thesis exploring social network connections amongst structured giving vehicles in Australia which support arts and culture organisations. The thesis is a mixed methods piece of research which involved semi-structured interviews with founders, trustees and directors of foundations to uncover the key common characteristics of institutional funders of the arts, and their perceptions about their levels of influence on the arts organisations they support. Archival research enabled networks amongst funders to be mapped.</p

    Identifying and Characterizing Outflows in Outflows of Metal-Poor Starbursting Galaxies

    This thesis studies several nearby, low-metallicity starbursting galaxies using the Keck II telescope on Mauna Kea in order to determine the presence of, and characterize the properties of star-formation driven galaxy-scale gas outflows. This thesis developed new methods for measuring and defining these outflows, intended for application to large samples of galaxies. The thesis provides measurement of the global geometric properties of the observed outflows, and compares the outflow gas to that observed within the galaxy disk, with a view to answering the question of how these outflows fit into the overall picture of galaxy evolution.</p

    Comparative Analysis of Nutritional Composition and Germination Properties Between Hard and Soft Seed Coat Adlay (Coix lacryma-jobi L.)

    This thesis deals with a neglected plant with enormous potential as a future crop known as adlay. Consumed adlay has a softer seed coat (C. lacryma-jobi var. ma-yuen), while the wild cultivar has a hard seed coat (C. lacryma-jobi var. lacryma-jobi). These different morphological and taxonomical differences imply that nutritional and germination differences might present and need to be understood to fully harness the plant's future benefits. This thesis implies various methods to determine the adlay nutritional quality and safety regarding heavy metal accumulation as well as pre-sowing treatment with mechanical scarification and seed priming to enhance its germination. This thesis provides valuable knowledge on adlay to address food security and sustainability in Indonesia and other tropical and subtropical regions of Asia and the Pacific.</p

    Machine Learning-driven Discovery of EBNA1 Inhibitors Against Epstein Barr Virus in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

    This study addresses nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), particularly common among Malaysians, by targeting Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection through the EBNA1 protein, which is crucial for EBV survival and NPC tumourigenicity. Using quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) models in WEKA based on the AID2381 dataset, we identified ten potential EBNA1 inhibitors from the Enamine compound library. One compound, Z4133355762, selectively inhibited EBV-positive NPC cells (C666-1). Molecular dynamics simulations validated the interaction, demonstrating QSAR's effectiveness in streamlining drug discovery for NPC treatments.</p
