    Integrated Catalytic and Energy Storage Performance of Grass Waste Derived Ni-Based Catalyst

    This study focuses on the optimization and characterization of a grass waste-derived catalyst, GW-Ni-Cat, for hydrogen generation via NaBH4 methanolysis, as well as its application in supercapacitors. Optimization experiments were conducted to determine the optimal conditions for acid concentration, metal concentration, carbonization temperature, and carbonization time. The catalyst was characterized using various techniques including FTIR, XRD, SEM, TEM, BET, and ICP-OES. Performance experiments demonstrated the catalyst's efficiency in hydrogen generation, with key factors such as catalyst amount, NaBH4 concentration, and temperature influencing the reaction kinetics. Reusability tests showed the catalyst's stability over multiple cycles. Electrochemical characterization revealed the suitability of GW-Ni-Cat as an electrode material for supercapacitors, with high specific capacitance values. Comparison with other bio-based supercapacitors demonstrated the superior performance of GW-Ni-Cat. Overall, this study presents GW-Ni-Cat as a versatile and efficient material for both hydrogen generation and energy storage applications. © King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals 2024

    A physics teaching material: myopia model

    Fiziğin günlük hayatla ilişkilendirilmesi konuların etkili bir şekilde öğrenilmesini destekler. İnsan gözü, optik kavramlarını günlük hayatla ilişkilendirmek için zengin bir potansiyel sunar. Bu çalışmada, optik öğretim materyali olarak ahşaptan hazırlanmış, uygun maliyetli ve kolay taşınabilir bir göz modeli tanıtılmıştır. Bu göz modeli ile miyopi ve miyopinin gözlükle düzeltilmesinin yanı sıra miyop kırma kusuru olan bir kişinin neden uzağı net göremediği ancak yakını net görebildiği açıklanabilmektedir. Ayrıca el feneri, ışık sınırlandırıcı ve ahşap ızgara ile kullanılan bu materyalin lazer ışık kaynağı kullanılan ticari göz modellerinden miyopiyi modellemedeki üstünlüğü deneysel olarak gösterilmiştir. Bu öğretim materyalinin derslerde optik konularının günlük hayatla ilişkilendirilmesine önemli katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.Transferring physics to daily life supports that the subjects are learned effectively. The human eye offers a rich potential for connecting optics concepts to everyday life. This study introduced a cost-effective and easily transportable eye model made from wood as an optic instructional material. With this eye model, myopia and its correction can be explained in physics courses, as well as why a person with myopic cannot see the distance clearly but can see the near clearly. The advantages of this material which is used with flashlight, light limiter and wood grid from other commercial models which is used with laser were shown experimentally. It is thought that this teaching material will important contribute to associating optics topics with daily life in courses

    Science courses are of great importance in terms of the continuity of societies in general. States are a course that is specifically addressed by keeping them separate from ideological situations among students' courses. For this reason, the course is constantly updated by the institution that carries out planning within the framework of programs. The year 2024 appears as the last period that science course programs have experienced seriously. The programs of 2005, 2013, 2018, including the period after 2000 when radical changes were experienced in science courses, are evaluated in the study. In particular, the year 2024 was tried to be evaluated in detail. It is stated that especially the opinions of teachers are very serious during the examination of the curriculum.     Deep Analysis of Patella caerulea Calcined Shells for Microwave Applications

    Bu çalışma, İskenderun Körfezi’nden toplanan Patella Caerulea kabuklarının mikrodalga radomelarında biyomalzeme olarak potansiyel uygulamasını araştırmakta ve 600-1200 °C’de kalsine edilmiş kabukların dielektrik özelliklerini incelemektedir. 10 GHz’lik merkezi frekansta, P600, P800, P1000 ve P1200 için reel dielektrik geçirgenlik değerleri sırasıyla 3,2, 2,3, 2,4 ve 2,5’tir. 10 GHz’de karşılık gelen sanal değerleri, sıcaklığa bağlı değişimleri yansıtan 0,82, 0,44, 0,52 ve 0,56’dır. Kabukların, özellikle 2,5 GHz’deki kayıp faktörü, mikrodalga laminat ve radome uygulamaları gibi iletişimde düşük kayıplı uygulamalar için potansiyellerini göstermektedir. Ayrıca, bu malzemeler bir mikrodalga sistemde alt tabaka olarak uygulanabilirliğini göstermek için geleneksel bir yama antene entegre edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte, 800 °C’yi aşan sıcaklıklarda X-ışını kırınım spektrumunda CaO tepelerinde hafif bir artış gözlemlenmiştir. Kabuk tozunun termal gravimetrik analizi ve diferansiyel termal analizi, iki ayrı aşamada oluşan ağırlık kaybını ve 125 °C ve 275 °C’de küçük endotermik tepeleri ortaya koymaktadır. Çalışma, mikrodalga anten radom malzemelerinin yüksek empedans uyumu ve düşük kayıp özellikleri nedeniyle umut verici olduğunu vurgulamaktadır. Bu araştırma, mikrodalga teknolojisi alanında ekonomik ve ekolojik faydalar için deniz kaynaklı malzemelerin keşfine katkıda bulunmaktadır.This study investigates the potential application of Patella caerulea shells collected from the Iskenderun Bay as biomaterial in microwave radomes and examines the dielectric properties of shells calcined at 600-1200 °C. At the central frequency of 10 GHz, the real permittivity values for P600, P800, P1000 and P1200 are 3.2, 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5, respectively. The corresponding imaginary parts at 10 GHz are 0.82, 0.44, 0.52 and 0.56, reflecting temperature-dependent variations. The loss factor of shells, particularly at 2.5 GHz, indicates their potential for low-loss applications in communication, such as microwave laminate and radome applications. Moreover, these materials have been integrated to a traditional patch antenna to show feasibility in a microwave system as a substrate layer. At temperatures exceeding 800 °C, slight increase in the CaO peaks was observed in X-ray diffraction spectrum. The thermal gravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis of shell powder reveal weight loss occurring in two distinct stages and minor endothermic peaks at 125°C and 275°C. The study highlights that microwave antenna radome materials are promising due to their high impedance matching and low-loss properties. This research contributes to the exploration of marine-sourced materials for economic and ecological benefits in the field of microwave technology

    The Enhancing of Nurses’ and Midwives’ Competence in Providing Spiritual Care through Innovative Education and Compassionate Care using the Spiritual Care Competency Self-Assessment Tool: Turkish Version

    Spiritual care is an important part of holistic care and is at the center of nursing/midwifery care. Nurses/midwives are expected to graduate by receiving adequate training in spiritual care and gaining spiritual care competence during their student days. It is important to evaluate the spiritual care competencies of nursing/midwifery students and to correct the deficiencies, if any. Therefore, a self-assessment tool is needed to increase awareness and knowledge and improve skills and attitudes in the field of spirituality and pastoral care. One of these tools is EPICC (Enhancing Nurses’ and Midwives’ Competence in Providing Spiritual Care through Innovative Education and Compassionate Care). This EPICC Spiritual Care Education Standard describes the spiritual care competencies expected from undergraduate nursing and midwifery students. For every competence, the learning outcomes are described in aspects of knowledge, skills, and attitudes. This research was conducted with a methodological design to ensure that the Turkish version of the EPICC Spiritual Care Competency Self-Assessment Tool can be used as a reliable and valid measurement tool in nursing research in Turkey. Methodological and cross-sectional research design was used in the research method. The research was carried out with 300 nursing and midwifery students in Turkey. Data were collected using the personal information form and the EPICC Spiritual Care Competency Self-Assessment Tool. The results of exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the four-factor structure of the scale. Cronbach’s α, item-total correlation, test–retest analysis, and equivalent form analysis showed high reliability. EPICC Spiritual Care Competency Self-Assessment Tool For Student Nurses And Midwives: Turkish Validity And Reliability Study consists of 24 items on a five-point Likert-type scale. The Turkish version of the EPICC Spiritual Care Competency Self-Assessment Tool is a valid and reliable tool for assessing the Spiritual Care Competencies of nursing and midwifery students. Evaluating the Spiritual Care Competencies of nursing and midwifery students is an important issue, it is now possible in Turkey with this scale given its validity and reliability. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024

    Badminton Sporcularına Uygulanan Pliometrik Antrenmanının Anaerobik Performans ve Bazı Fiziksel Performans Üzerine Değerlerinin İncelenmesi

    Objective: The general aim of the study was to investigate the anaerobic performance and some physical performance values of bedminton athletes participating in plyometric training. Material and method: Fifteen students (8 boys and 7 girls) between the ages of 12-15 years studying at Siirt sports high school participated in the study. Body weight, 30 m sprint, 10x5 shuttle run agility test, flamingo balance test, standing long jump and shuttle test were measured before and after training. The group participated in plyometric training 3 days a week for 8 weeks. SPSS 22 program was used for data analysis in our study. The data obtained were given as arithmetic mean and standard deviation. The data showed a normal distribution and paired sample t test was used for the comparison of dependent groups. The significance level was determined as pAmaç: Çalışmanın genel amacı pliometrik antrenman uygulamasına katılan bedminton sporcularının anaerobik performans ve bazı fiziksel performans üzerine değerlerinin incelenmesidir. Materyal metot: Çalışma Siirt spor lisesinde öğrenim gören 12-15 yaş aralığında 15 (8 erkek ve 7 kız) öğrenci katılmıştır. Antrenman öncesi ve sonrası vücut ağırlığı, 30 m sürat, 10x5 mekik koşusu çeviklik testi, flamingo denge testi, durarak uzun atlama ve mekik testi ölçümleri alındı. Grup 8 hafta süresince haftada 3 gün pliometrik antrenmanlara katıldı. Çalışmamızda verilerin analizi için SPSS 22 programı kullanılmıştır.     Intrinsic and extrinsic knowledge-sharing motivations as microfoundations of marketing capabilities and firm performance

    PurposeThis study aims to examine the impact of intrinsic and extrinsic knowledge-sharing motivations on marketing capabilities such as pricing and distribution and the effects of these capabilities on firm performance. In addition, it explores the mediating role of marketing capabilities in the relationship between intrinsic-extrinsic knowledge-sharing motivations and firm performance.Design/methodology/approachThis research was conducted using quantitative methods. Data were collected through a survey administered to 2,590 firm managers in T & uuml;rkiye's manufacturing and service industries and analyzed using Smart PLS4 software and Structural Equation Modeling.FindingsThe findings indicate that intrinsic and extrinsic knowledge-sharing motivations positively influence pricing and promotion capabilities. The authors also found that pricing and promotion capabilities positively affect firm performance.
