    WSA-Supplements and Proper Classes

    No full text
In this paper, we introduce the concept of wsa-supplements and investigate the objects of the class of short exact sequences determined by wsa-supplement submodules, where a submodule U of a module M is called a wsa-supplement in M if there is a submodule V of M with U + V = M and U boolean AND V is weakly semiartinian. We prove that a module M is weakly semiartinian if and only if every submodule of M is a wsa-supplement in M. We introduce CC-rings as a generalization of C-rings and show that a ring is a right CC-ring if and only if every singular right module has a crumbling submodule. The class of all short exact sequences determined by wsa-supplement submodules is shown to be a proper class which is both injectively and co-injectively generated. We investigate the homological objects of this proper class along with its relation to CC-rings

Lumen reconstruction with magnetic compression anastomosis technique in a patient with complete esophageal stricture

    No full text
Background: Complete esophageal obstruction (CEO) is a rare condition of which treatment options are challenging. Surgery is the main treatment with high morbidity and mortality rates. Magnetic compression anastomosis (MCA) is a novel technique developed to restore lumen patency in gastrointestinal and biliary tracts. However, MCA experience is limited in respect of esophageal strictures. Case Report: We present a 26-year-old patient having CEO. Magnets are inserted endoscopically to both sides of the obstructed area via oral and retrograde (through the gastrostomy tract) route. On day 8, magnets stuck together and were removed endoscopically through the oral route. Subsequently, sessions of balloon dilatations and triamcinolone injection were performed. The patient’s complaint of aphagia resolved after the treatment process. Conclusion: In conclusion, MCA is an alternative technique that can be used to restore lumen patency in esophageal strictures and also avoids complications of surgical interventions. Objective: this study aimed to determine whether ocular Demodex colonization leads to changes in the conjunctival flora in healthy middle-aged individuals. Methods: This study included 70 patients who applied to an ophthalmology clinic with a complaints of presbyopia. Two eyelash specimens from the lower eyelids of both eyes were obtained from each individual. In eyelash specimens were examined for Demodex spp. by direct wet smearing under microscopy. Conjunctival culture samples were cultivated on blood agar, eosin methylene blue and chocolate agar. Results: In the 38.5% of the individuals, Demodex spp. mites were found in the eyelashes, out of which 11.4% were Demodex brevis and 27.1% Demodex folliculorum. Bacterial growth was observed in 82.9% of the samples examined. The most frequently detected bacterium was Staphylococcus epidermidis (57%). Conclusion: Although Demodex spp. infestation has been shown to be related to diseases on ocular surface of eyes such as pterygium, xerophthalmia and chalazion, we did not observe that it induces changes in ocular surface flora in healthy adults. © 2022 Turkish Society for Parasitology

Power Muirhead mean in spherical normal fuzzy environment and its applications to multi-attribute decision-making Spherical normal fuzzy power Muirhead mean

    No full text
This study aims to propose the power Muirhead mean (PMM) operator in the spherical normal fuzzy sets (SNoFS) environment to solve multiple attribute decision-making problems. Spherical normal fuzzy sets better characterize real-world problems. On the other hand, the Muirhead mean (MM) considers the relationship between any number of criteria of the operator. Power aggregation (PA) reduces the negative impact of excessively high or excessively low values on aggregation results. This article proposes two new aggregation methods: spherical normal fuzzy power Muirhead mean (SNoFPMM) and spherical normal fuzzy weighted power Muirhead mean (SNoFWPMM). Also, these operators produce effective results in terms of their suitability to real-world problems and the relationship between their criteria. The proposed operators are applied to solve the problems in choosing the ideal mask for the COVID-19 outbreak and investment company selection. However, uncertainty about the effects of COVID-19 complicates the decision-making process. Spherical normal fuzzy sets can handle both real-world problems and situations involving uncertainty. Our approach has been compared with other methods in the literature. The superior aspects and applicability of our strategy are also mentioned

Several Saharan plants, despite their abundance of natural compounds, have received little attention. In this study, the chemical composition of polar extracts of Tourneuxia variifolia Coss. (Asteraceae), an endemic species to Algerian Sahara, was investigated and their anticancer activity was evaluated in vitro. The phytoconstituents of both ethyl acetate (EtOAc) and n-butanol (n-BuOH) extracts were screened using LC/MS-MS technique. The anticancer activity of the above extracts was measured against human cervical adenocarcinoma (HeLa) cell line. The LC/MS-MS analyses results revealed that twenty-seven phytochemicals in EtOAc extract and twenty-three in n-BuOH extract were identified and quantified from which isoquercetin and astragalin were the most present. Moreover; the EtOAc extract was found to have a strong anticancer activity (IC50: 46.797 +/- 0.060 mu g/mL). These findings identified T. variifolia as a potential plant exhibiting anticancer properties.Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MESRS); Algerian PRFU program [B00L01UN250120180002]This work was supported by the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MESRS) and the Algerian PRFU (B00L01UN250120180002) program

Kahramanmaras region is suitable for pome fruits, vine and pepper cultivation. This study was conducted to evaluate the antibacterial effects of 6 different commercial essential oil (thyme, mint, cinnamon, clove, orange and ginger) and 3 different commercial tannin (Artutan, Artutan K and Farmatan) extracts against several isolates of different plant pathogenic bacterial species (Rhizobium spp. (syn. Agrobacterium), Xanthomonas spp. and Erwinia amylovora) by using disc diffusion method. Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MICs) was determined by using broth micro-dilution method for plant extracts which caused > 5 mm inhibition zones. Thyme and cinnamon essential oils were determined as the most effective essential oils but ginger essential oil was the least effective oil determined. The activity of essential oils also varied statistically according to bacterial species tested. The most susceptible isolate was determined Rhizobium sp. CU5-4/6 and the most resistant isolates were Xanthomonas spp. MB7-5 and MB6-3. Xanthomonas spp. isolates were found to be more resistant to essential oils than Rhizobium spp. and E. amylovora isolates. MIC value of mint and thyme essential oils against Rhizobium spp. isolates varied between 10-20 mu l/ml; thyme 10 mu l/ ml for Xanthomonas spp. isolates and mint 20 mu l / ml for Xanthomonas spp. MB6-6 isolate. MIC value of cinnamon essential oils against Rhizobium spp. isolates CU5-4/6 and CU5-4/10 was determined as 20-40 mu l/ml. Clove essential oil caused inhibition at 10 mu l/ml against Xanthomonas spp. isolates. Our results clearly shown that plant extracts may be used as an alternative control method in sustainable and organic farming against pathogens.Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam University [2018/2-44 M]; Tekirdag Namik Kemal University Faculty of AgricultureWe express our thanks for the support of Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam University (Project no: 2018/2-44 M) and Tekirdag Namik Kemal University Faculty of Agriculture. t-Extending Krasner Hypermodules

    No full text
Let M be a hypermodule over a hyperring R such that the intersection of any two subhypermodules of M is a subhypermodule of M. We introduce the concept of a t-essential subhypermodule in M relative to an arbitrary subhypermodule T of M, which is called T-t-essential subhypermodule of M. Our aim in this work is to investigate properties of t-essential subhypermodules. We apply this concept to introduce t-extending hypermodules. Examples are provided to illustrate different concepts

A New Best Proximity Point Result with an Application to Nonlinear Fredholm Integral Equations

    No full text
In the current paper, we first introduce a new class of contractions via a new notion called p-cyclic contraction mapping by combining the ideas of cyclic contraction mapping and p-contraction mapping. Then, we give a new definition of a cyclically 0-complete pair to weaken the completeness condition on the partial metric spaces. Following that, we prove some best proximity point results for p-cyclic contraction mappings on D boolean OR E where D,E is a cyclically 0-complete pair in the setting of partial metric spaces. Hence, we generalize and unify famous and well-known results in the literature of metric fixed point theory. Additionally, we present some nontrivial examples to compare our results with earlier. Finally, we investigate the sufficient conditions for the existence of a solution to nonlinear Fredholm integral equations by the results in the paper

    No full text
