Hârezmşâh II. Me’mûn’un İlmî, Edebî ve Entelektüel Çevresi
Me’mûnîler Devleti, 386-408/996-1017 yılları arasında Hârezm bölgesine ve Kuzey Horasan’daki Ferâve-Nesâ havalisine hâkim olmuştur. Me’mûnî Hârezmşâhlar ve üst rütbeli devlet adamları bilimi, felsefeyi ve edebiyatı yüksek düzeyde himaye ederek Hârezm’i bilgin, şair ve edipler için bir tür cazibe merkezi haline getirmişlerdir. Onların Hârezm’de şekillendirdikleri ilmî ve edebî muhit çağımızdaki tarih araştırmacıları tarafından “Hârezm Me’mûn Akademisi” adıyla anılmaktadır. Söz konusu gelişmede 399-407/1008-1017 seneleri arasında egemen olan Hârezmşâh II. Me’mûn önemli bir rol oynamıştır. Bu çalışmada Hârezmşâh II. Me’mûn’un ilmî, edebî ve entelektüel çevresi konu edilmektedir. Bilimsel araştırmalara, Arapça şiirlere ve edebî eserlere ziyadesiyle meraklı olduğu anlaşılan Hârezmşâh II. Me’mûn’un himayesi altında faaliyet gösteren bilgin, şair ve edipler bu makalede tespit edilerek onların aralarındaki ilişkilere değinilmektedir. Şu‘arâ ve üdebâ tabakasından Se‘âlibî, Sehlî, Hâmidî, Sahrî, Hilâlî, Ma‘sûmî, Kâsî; matematik ve astronomi bilginleri Bîrûnî, İbn Irâk, Hubûbî ve Abdüssamed el-Hakîm; filozof-hekimlerden İbnü’l-Hammâr, İbn Sînâ ve Mesîhî; din âlimlerinden İbnü’l-Lebbân ve Şâri‘î gibi isimlerin Hârezmşâh II. Me’mûn’un himayesinde Hârezm’de çalıştıkları belirlenmiştir. Makalede zikredilen âlim ve ediplerin Hârezmşâh II. Me’mûn için ve ona ithafen kaleme aldıkları eserleri yahut onu övmek veya eleştirmek üzere derledikleri şiirleri de tespit edilmiştir. Böylece makale Hârezmşâh II. Me’mûn’un İslam Medeniyeti’nin gelişmesine başat aktörlerden olan bilge hükümdarlara münasip bir örnek teşkil ettiğini vurgulamaktadır
KAÇAR İDARESİ DÖNEMİNDE İRAN’DA GİZEMLİ BİR SEYYAH: EDWARD GRANVİLLE BROWNE
Edward Granville Browne, İngiltere’de Eton College’de başladığı okul hayatını Cambridge’de tıp okumakla devam ettirmiştir. Tıp öğrencisi iken babası tarafından İstanbul’a gönderilmiş, Osmanlı Devleti ile Rusya arasında meydana gelen 93 Savaşı haberlerine ilgi duymuştur. Bundan sonra Ortadoğu ve Osmanlı ile ilgili kitapları okurken Farsça, Türkçe ve Arapça öğrenmeye başlamıştır. İngiltere’de İranlı entelektüel Hacı Pirzadeh Naini ile tanıştıktan sonra Mazhar Ali unvanını kullanmış ve İngiliz Dışişleri Bakanlığı tarafından bir yıllığına Tahran’a gönderilmiştir. İran’a geldikten sonra meşrutiyetçi Bahai önderleri ile irtibata geçmiştir. Çalışmamızda Browne’nin tıpçı olmasına rağmen İran’a gidiş sebebini, bu ülkenin meşrutiyet süreci yaşadığı ve iç karışıklığa sürüklendiği bir dönemde meşrutiyetçilerle irtibatının sebebini bulmaya çalıştık. İran’a gittikten sonra Bahailerle irtibata geçmesi, Osmanlı-İran sınırındaki sınır meselelerine ve İran’daki mezhebi ihtilaflara müdahil olması da çalışmamızın ana hedefini oluşturmaktadır. İran seyahati ile ilgili notlarını topladığı seyahatname en önemli kaynağımızdır. Dilbilimci olmamasına ve İran’da bu alan ile ilgili kişilerle irtibata geçmemesine rağmen İran Edebiyatı Tarihi yazmasına dair sorulara cevap aramaya çalıştık. Farsçaya ilgisi sebebiyle İran’da bu alanla ilgili kişilerle irtibata geçmekten ziyade Tahran, Kirman, Yezd, Zencan ve İsfahan’da daha çok Bahai ve Zerdüştlerle olan irtibatının sebebini öğrenmeye çalıştık
TRIZ approach to the relevant problem for the transport of assay tubes: A case study on family health centers in Amasya
Amasya is a province of Turkey, situated on the Yesil River in the Black Sea Region to the north of the country. In Family Health Centers (FHC), in the province of Amasya, a different method is applied for blood tests according to hospitals. Assay tubes are sent to the central laboratory outside the FHC or to the hospital laboratory in the city center by road transportations. This method brings time loss and financial burden. Theory of Innovative Problem Solving (TRIZ)-based solution proposal is presented as an alternative approach for the transport of assay tubes by taking into consideration the family health centers in Amasya. The problem was transformed into a TRIZ problem and solutions were produced using appropriate princi-ples. Drone usage is proposed as a solution. If drone usage is preferred over vehicle use, it has been observed that it provides 93% financial and time savings. Today, the great impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global healthcare systems has led to seeking new tools and methods to overcome the crisis. The use of drone technology has become even more important in order to provide fast and wide-ranging service, especially in the period of medical crisis, by reducing contact from person to person
Kurum Bakımında Olan ve Aile Yanında Olan Çocuk ve Ergenler: Bağlanma Stilleri ve Zihin Kuramı Becerilerinin Değerlendirilmesi
Bağlanma, birincil bakım-veren ile çocuk arasında gelişen temel bir bağdır. Zihin kuramı becerisi bağlanma ile muhtemelen ilişkili olan bir bilişsel yetenektir. Çalışmanın amacı, Çocuk Evleri Koordinasyon Merkezi Müdürlüğü’nde (ÇEKOM) kurum bakımında olan çocukların bağlanma stillerinin aile yanında olan çocuklarla benzer olup-olmadığının araştırılması ve çocukların bağlanma stillerinin zihin kuramı becerisi ile ilişkisinin değerlendirilmesidir. Çalışmaya ÇEKOM’da kalan 54 çocuk (kurum grubu), aile yanında olup bir etüd merkezinde eğitim alan 33 çocuk (kontrol grubu) ve aile yanında olup psikiyatri poliklinik başvurusu olan 34 çocuk (poliklinik grubu) dahil edildi. Çalışmaya katılan çocuk-ergenlerin, zihin kuramı becerileri Gözlerden Zihin Okuma testi ve Gaf testi, bağlanma stili İlişki Ölçekleri Anketleri ile değerlendirilmiştir. Güvenli bağlanma, kontrol grubu, kurum grubu, poliklinik grubunda sırasıyla %27,3, %22,2, %5,9 oranlarında olup; kontrol grubu ve poliklinik grubu arasında anlamlı farklılık saptanmıştır (p=0,011). Kurumda kalan çocukların kurum bakımına alınma nedenlerine göre bağlanma stiline bakıldığında, kurumda kalma gerekçesi istismar olanlarda kaygılı bağlanma (%36,4), olmayanlarda ise kayıtsız bağlanma (%55,6) en sık görülen bağlanma stiliydi (p=0.018). Kız çocuklarında güvenli bağlanma oranı (%14) erkek çocuklarından (%31,4) daha düşük bulunmuştur (p=0.040). Bağlanma stilleri ile Gaf testi puanları arasında anlamlı bir farklılık gözlenmemiştir (p>0.05). Çocuğun kaldığı kurum bakımının özelliklerinin ne kadar önemli olduğu çalışmamızda gösterilmiştir. Özellikle her evde sabit bakım verenlerin olduğu ÇEKOM’da kalan çocukların, aile yanında olan çocuklara yakın güvenli bağlanma oranına sahip olması göz önünde bulundurulmalıdır

The Impact of CoronaVac Vaccination on 28-day Mortality Rate of Critically Ill Patients with COVID-19 in Türkiye
Background: Vaccines against coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) have been effective in preventing symptomatic diseases, hospitalizations, and intensive care unit (ICU) admissions. However, data regarding the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines in reducing mortality among critically ill patients with COVID-19 remains unclear. Aims: To determine the vaccination status and investigate the impact of the COVID-19 vaccine on the 28-day mortality in critically ill patients with COVID-19. Study Design: Multicenter prospective observational clinical study. Methods: This study was conducted in 60 hospitals with ICUs managing critically ill patients with COVID-19. Patients aged ? 18 years with confirmed COVID-19 who were admitted to the ICU were included. The present study had two phases. The first phase was designed as a one-day point prevalence study, and demographic and clinical findings were evaluated. In the second phase, the 28-day mortality was evaluated. Results: As of August 11, 2021, 921 patients were enrolled in the study. The mean age of the patients was 65.42 ± 16.74 years, and 48.6% (n = 448) were female. Among the critically ill patients with COVID-19, 52.6% (n = 484) were unvaccinated, 7.7% (n = 71) were incompletely vaccinated, and 39.8% (n = 366) were fully vaccinated. A subgroup analysis of 817 patients who were unvaccinated (n = 484) or who had received two doses of the CoronaVac vaccine (n = 333) was performed. The 28-day mortality rate was 56.8% (n = 275) and 57.4% (n = 191) in the unvaccinated and two-dose CoronaVac groups, respectively. The 28-day mortality was associated with age, hypertension, the number of comorbidities, type of respiratory support, and APACHE II and sequential organ failure assessment scores (p < 0.05). The odds ratio for the 28-day mortality among those who had received two doses of CoronaVac was 0.591 (95% confidence interval: 0.413-0.848) (p = 0.004). Conclusion: Vaccination with at least two doses of CoronaVac within six months significantly decreased mortality in vaccinated patients than in unvaccinated patients. © Author(s).Funding: The authors declared that this study received no financial support
Evaluation of the different inner and outer channel geometry combinations for optimum melting and solidification performance in double pipe energy storage with phase change material: A numerical study
Phase change materials (PCMs) have become preferable among latent heat storage methods due to their high energy storage densities and low energy losses. These properties of PCMs make it possible to use them in applications such as thermal storage of solar energy, cooling of electronic equipment, energy storage for buildings, and cooling of engines. Double-pipe energy storage (DPTES) with PCM can be used in cases where the production and consumption times of the thermal energy obtained from sources such as solar energy, geothermal water, and waste gas do not match. The fact that the thermal conductivity coefficients are quite low is one of the obstacles to the commercialization of PCMs and their use in more applications. Double-pipe energy storage (DPTES) with PCM can be used especially in cases where the production and consumption moments of the thermal energy obtained from solar energy do not match. In studies on DPTES with PCM, methods including different pipe geometries, extended surfaces, different PCM materials, microencapsulation of PCMs, eccentric inner pipe placement, nanoparticle usage, and metal foam addition have been investigated to increase thermal conductivity. The novelty of this study was to examine the effects of different inner and outer channel combinations on melting and solidification performance. In this direction, nine different inner and outer channel combinations of basic geometric shapes were modeled. Among these combinations, the combination with the highest melting rate and the shortest charging time was determined. Afterward, melting and solidification analyzes were made at the different positions of the inner and outer channels for the combination selected, and the most suitable energy storage design was created to make the most efficient use of the existing heat source. The results of the analysis revealed that the optimum design for melting, and solidification performance was the triangle-in-square configuration. With this configuration, it was increased the melting rate by 1.1 times and accelerated the charging time by 20 % for a 40-minute charging period compared to conventional DPTES (circle-in-circle). In addition, for the melting and solidification periods, the inverted and vertical placement of the triangle in the square revealed the best results. It was observed that the effect of the relative positions of the square and the triangle on the solidification rate was negligible. It is predicted that the results given in this study will be useful in designing the most compatible inner and outer channel geometries to increase energy storage efficiency in DPTES systems
The effect of CT-based cardiothoracic ratio on survival of COVID-19 patients
Objectives: We aimed to investigate the relationship between computed tomography (CT)- based cardiothoracic ratio (CTR) with mortality rates of COVID-19 patients. Methods: Our study was a single-center retrospective analysis of 484 patients (aged ? 18) who were admitted to our hospital’s emergency department. We included only laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients who underwent chest CT. Data of demographic information, laboratory findings, survivals, and chest CT imaging findings were recorded. The radiologist calculated CTR by dividing the greatest transverse cardiac diameter by the greatest transverse thoracic diameter on the initial chest CT. Cardiomegaly was defined if “CTR > 0.5”. Results: Thirty (6.2%) patients were treated as outpatients, and 135/484 (%27.9) patients were treated in the intensive care unit (ICU). A total of 147 /484 (30.4%) patients died. We found a statistical association between cardiomegaly with mortality rates (p < 0.001) and ICU admission (p = 0.008). In multivariate analysis, older age was 1.07-fold (p < 0.001), cardiomegaly 1.75-fold (p = 0.015), history of cerebrovascular diseases 2.929-fold (p = 0.018), and elevated serum LDH level 1.003-fold (p = 0.011) associated with higher risks of mortality. Conclusions: Since the presence of cardiomegaly on chest CT is associated with a worse prognosis for COVID-19 patients, more caution should be exercised in the evaluation, follow-up, and treatment of COVID-19 patients with cardiomegaly
Can mediastinum cause referred pain in idiopathic scoliosis?
Aim: In idiopathic scoliosis (IS), the mechanism of action of the pain that occurs, especially in the back and neck region, with the increase in curvature, is not known exactly. In the study, the relationship between these pains and the mediastinum was investigated. Materials and Methods: The study, which was planned retrospectively, included 25 individuals with IS (Lenke Type I) and 21 healthy individuals. Individuals with IS determined the regions where they felt the most pain on the body diagram. The lung and mediastinal volumes of the participants were measured in mm3 on computed tomography (CT) images. The ratios of the area occupied by the lung and mediastinum in the thoracic cavity were calculated in each group. The obtained data were evaluated using the IBM SPSS 23.0 program, and p0.05). It was determined that individuals with IS felt the most pain in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th cervical and 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th thoracic spinal nerve dermotomas regions. Compared to the control group, the area covered by the lung in the thoracic cavity decreased by 50% in the IS group, while the area covered by the mediastinum increased at the same rate (p<0.001). Conclusion: We think that the pain that occurs in the neck and shoulder region with the increase in the degree of curvature in individuals with IS with a major curvature in the thoracic region (Lenke Type I) is referred to as pain originating from the mediastinum
SOME SUBMANIFOLDS OF GENERALIZED KENMOTSU MANIFOLDS
In this paper, invariant submanifolds of a generalized Kenmotsu manifold are studied and given some properties. An example is constructed for an invariant submanifold of a generalized Kenmotsu manifold. In addition, integrabilities of invariant distribution is investigated, and some theorems are given related to curvature tensor and the second fundamental form in invariant submanifolds of a generalized Kenmotsu manifold. Moreover, semi-parallel and 2-semi-parallel invariant submanifolds of a generalized Kenmotsu manifold are studied. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given on semi-parallel and 2-semi-parallel invariant submanifolds of a generalized Kenmotsu manifold to be totally geodesic. © 2023, Canadian University of Dubai.
