    Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and dysmenorrhea, in addition to harming the physical and mental health of women, also disrupt their daily life and quality of life. We aimed to investigate the effects and underlying mechanisms of Curcuma longa (turmeric) and curcumin on PMS and dysmenorrhea. PRISMA guideline 2020 was followed for conducting this systematic review. Comprehensive literature searches were conducted across multiple databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Scopus. Finally, 17 articles were found after considering the study’s inclusion and exclusion criteria into account. Data were extracted and entered into an Excel file for further investigation and drew the results. Curcuma longa and curcumin affect PMS and dysmenorrhea through various mechanisms. They inhibit the activity of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and the production of prostaglandins, thus reducing inflammation and pain. Additionally, curcumin’s antioxidant properties protect against oxidative stress, and lipid peroxidation helps maintain hormonal balance, exert analgesic effects, and relieve the symptoms of PMS and dysmenorrhea. They also insert neurotransmitter modulatory properties, such as increased serotonin and dopamine levels, which may contribute to their antidepressant, and sedative effects. Curcuma longa and curcumin indicated promising therapeutic effects in reducing PMS and dysmenorrhea symptoms due to their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Although, further well-designed clinical trials are needed to establish their efficacy and optimal dosage

    Ornithofauna Diversity of Tehsil Pakpattan, Punjab, Pakistan

    Tehsil Pakpattan is situated in the Doab region of Punjab, Pakistan, along the Sutlej River. The present study aimed to evaluate the avian biodiversity of Tehsil Pakpattan. The study included the evaluation of species diversity, IUCN Red List status, migratory description, and feeding habits of the bird populations of Tehsil Pakpattan. Regular surveys were conducted at ten different localities in Tehsil Pakpattan, including Islam Colony, Kanipur, Farid Kot, 14 S/P, Chak Khagga, Musewal, 8 S/P, Noorpur, Green Town, and Bonga Niaz Khan, from January 2022 to April 2023. The Shannon‒Wiener diversity index value (R\u27 = 3.41) indicated the notable diversity of the bird populations in the study area. A total of 1884 individuals representing 41 species, 30 families, and 12 orders were recorded. The highest diversity was in the order Passeriformes. The most common birds in the observed population were cattle egrets (n = 160), house crows (n = 150), Asian green bee-eaters (n = 100), rock pigeons (n=100), brown rock chats (n = 98) and house sparrows (n = 90). Among all the species, 34 were residents, 2 were summer breeders, and one was a winter visitor. Thirty-seven (75.60 %) of the bird species belonged to the least concern (LC), 2 (4.87 %) were nearly threatened (NT), and 2 (4.84 %) were vulnerable (VU) categories of the IUCN Red List

    Evaluation of Palatability and Nutrient Composition of Terminalia Brownii (Fresen) Leaves Grown in Farm Land in Southern Ethiopia

    Fodder trees and shrubs are important diet and they can provide huge amount of nutrient for grazing animals specifically in areas where less amount of forage is found. The current study was conducted during the year of 2020-2021 at Southern Ethiopia with the objectives of evaluating the palatability and nutrient composition of Terminalia brownii leaves grown in farmland. Survey was conducted in the study area with a 5 % of the total HHs through selecting randomly from the kebeles resident list. Five samples from each management practice i.e. lopping, pollarding and pruning were taken and analyzed in the laboratory for nutrient composition. The results revealed that among different management practices the palatability of T. brownii was ranked in the order of pruning \u3e pollarding \u3elopping. The nutrient composition varied significantly (P \u3c 0.05) among three tree management practices i.e. lopping, pollarding and pruning which includes 5.40 %, 4.60 % and 5.50 % of crude protein (CP), 8.59 %, 10.65 % and 12.23 % of Ash, 74.90 %, 59.53 % and 79.30 % of acid detergent fiber (ADF) respectively. The study confirmed that pruning was the best T. brownii tree management practice for the farmers to feed their goats and cattle. On the basis of current study it is recommended that farmers should use leaves of the fresh growth stage for their ruminant and farmers required to be trained in adoption of package and practices of the species in their farm land

    Effects of the Biochar of Senna Tora on the Soil Fertility of Misau Farmlands, Bauchi State, Northern Nigeria

    The use of biochar as an amendment to the soil is attracting the scientific community\u27s attention because of its cost-effectiveness, eco-friendliness, and its promising success in increasing the fertility of the soil and crop yield. In the present study, the effects of biochar from Senna tora applications on soil characteristics and the availability of micronutrients in Misau, Bauchi State, Nigeria, were explored. A completely randomized approach was adopted and duplicated three times, with reference soil (no biochar), 30-day, and 60-day biochar treatments. The biochar was removed at the end of the treatment, and soil samples from the various treatments were assessed using several analytical techniques for pH, cation exchange capacity (CEC), soil organic matter (OM), as well as nitrogen, phosphorous, and exchangeable base levels. The findings of the analysis showed that the observed values of parameters investigated range as follows: pH (7.37 to 8.00), organic matter (0.58 to 0.67 %), cation exchange capacity (5.16 to 7.92 cmol/kg), total nitrogen (0.7 to 4.0 g/kg), phosphorus (7.22 to 15.28 cmol/kg), calcium (0.09 to 0.41 cmol/kg), magnesium (1.13 to 3.10 cmol/kg), potassium (1.48 to 2.13 cmol/kg), and sodium (0.34 to 0.56 cmol/kg). The study\u27s findings demonstrated that using Senna tora biochar had a significant impact on the general improvement in soil fertility, and the effect was more pronounced after 60 days of biochar treatment. Based on regression analysis, all the parameters are found to be negative except for calcium (R2 = 0.0072) and potassium (R2 = 0.1579), which show very low correction. It is therefore recommended that field experiments be carried out to demonstrate the practical application of Senna tora biochar. This study highlights the importance of biochar application as a soil amendment for soil fertility enhancement and agricultural productivity

    Exploring the Coffee Genome: a Comprehensive Analysis of the Plant-Specific DoF Transcription Factor Gene Family

    Dof (DNA binding with one finger) proteins constitute highly ubiquitous transcription factor gene families that are found across all plant species, playing crucial role in fruit ripening, organ development, and other activities. A comprehensive genome-wide analysis of the coffee genome uncovered 49 CaDof genes, which were described in terms of their gene structures, phylogenetic relationships, subcellular localization, gene duplication, and expression in various plant organs. In Coffea arabica, segmental duplication outnumbered tandem duplication. Expressed sequence tags were used to determine the expression of specific organs in CaDof genes. Most genes showed high expression in fruits at various stages, in flower buds and suspension cells. Light responsiveness, seed specificity, anaerobic induction, endosperm specificity, abscisic acid response, hormone specificity, low-temperature responsiveness, and meristem specificity are among the elements identified through the cis-regulatory elements study. The analysis for subcellular localization revealed that within the nucleus were the CaDof proteins and many other important organelles. Furthermore, a comparison of these genes in coffee, arabidopsis and olive revealed 13 groups of Dof at all. The complete genomic analysis of the entire gene family of Dof in coffee provides valuable blueprints for the purpose of tissue culturing and functional investigations of the various members of this family of gene

    Factors Affecting Health Outcomes in Ohio’s Most Populated Rural and Urban Counties

    Background: Citizens of Ohio live in a diverse range of settings, such as urban, metropolitan, and rural counties. Populations living in urban settings may live longer and have more access to healthcare providers (Primary Care and Mental Health). Due to the improved access of care, populations in the urban settings may have less hospital visits and overall, better health compared to rural counties within Ohio. Objective: The objective of this investigation was to examine the urban and rural counties in the state for differences in years of potential life lost, primary care physician ratio, preventable hospitalization stays, and mental health provider ratio. Methods: This is a data analysis from a retrospective cohort of Ohio citizens comparing outcomes between urban and rural counties in the years 2016 and 2022. The counties in Ohio were divided into two groups based on population size, with the largest population sized counties labeled as urban and the smallest as rural. The study used unpaired t-tests, paired t-tests, spearman correlation, and stepwise linear regression. Results: Of the total 88 counties, the difference in health outcomes between urban and rural counties in Ohio was not significant (t = .223, p = .445). In both urban (t = -8.225, p \u3c .001) and rural (t = - 7.965, p \u3c.001) counties, the years of potential life lost in 2022 were significantly increased from YPLL lost in 2016. In Ohio’s population as of 2022, there were weak but statistically significant correlations between preventable hospitalizations and YPLL (r = .428, p \u3c.001) and between mental health provider ratio and YPLL (r = -.319, p = 0.002). There was no significance between PCP ration and YPLL (r = .091, p=.399)

    Improved Sampling Model for the Nyquist Folding Receiver

    The Nyquist Folding Receiver is an architecture that uses Compressed Sensing to convert analog Radio Frequency signals into digital signals. Analog-to-Digital Converter architectures that implement Compressed Sensing are collectively known as Analog-to-Information. Sparse bandlimited analog signals with frequency bands above the Nyquist frequency of a traditional Analog-to-Digital Converter can be recovered by Analog-to-Information. While most Analog-to-Information architectures use Gaussian distributed random variables for Compressed Sensing measurements, the Nyquist Folding Receiver uses structured Compressed Sensing measurements that are incoherent with general sparsifying bases like the Fourier Transform. The quality of the structured Compressed Sensing measurement model sets a baseline for how effective Compressed Sensing recovery algorithms will be. Current measurement models for the Nyquist Folding Receiver don\u27t accurately capture all aspects of the architecture. The proposed structured Compressed Sensing measurement model for the Nyquist Folding Receiver should help improve Compressed Sensing signal reconstruction accuracy and push Analog-to-Information architectures towards broader adoption within commercial Radio Frequency communication devices
