Get PDFAbstract : Learning motivation influences to the student achievement. Quantum teaching focuses on the dynamic relationships within the classroom environment, interactions establishing the foundation and framework for the study. Flashcards is a pictorial medium that allows students to learn biology. The purpose of this study was to determine the student's motivation and student's achievement in learning biology using quantum teaching learning models with flashcards. Media research is a classroom action research (CAR), held in SMA Negeri 1 Purwoharjo-Banyuwangi. The samples in this study were the student's of X5 of second semester in the 2011/2012 academic year . Measurement is done by increasing student motivation questionnaire ARCS, while for the students achievement considered from the three domains, namely cognitive, affective and psychomotor with reference standard minimum passing grade 75. For the assessment of affective and psychomotor used assessment instruments was made by researcher. The results showed that the improvment in the motivation aspect of attention is 1.19, relevance aspect is 0.33, confidence aspect is 0.64, and aspects of satisfaction is 0.95. For learning outcome itself has increased an average is 1.8% in each realm. Key Words : quantum teaching, flashcard, motivation, Student achievement

Get PDFAbstract.Improvement in the learning process needs to be established and developed to create interactive learning between teachers and students. In this case, students are required to take an active role in the learning process. But in fact, learning in SMP 14 Jember is still the conventional, where the delivery system is more dominated by teachers, while students tend to be silent and passively receive course materials. This may result in low motivation and student learning outcomes, but it is also of interest to read too low so students do not understand the concept of the material presented. Therefore, we need a model of learning appropriate. One model of learning that can be used is the CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) aided student worksheets. The application of this learning model aims to determine whether or not to increase motivation and learning outcomes of students of SMP Negeri 14 Jember. The subject of this action research is the eighth grade students class D of SMP Negeri 14 Jember first semester of academic year 20012/2013. Based on analysis showed an increase students in motivation in attention of 4,19 (13,09%), aspects of relevance increased by 5,56 (17,36%), aspect confidence increased by 3,16 (9,87%), and aspects of satisfaction increased by 4,52 (14,13%) than that obtained increasing mastery of learning outcomes in the classical i.e cognitive increased by 24.2% and psychomotor domains increased by 13.4%. THE EFFECT OF USING CROSSWORD PUZZLE ON VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT OF THE EIGHTH YEAR STUDENTS AT SMP NEGERI 5 JEMBER
Get PDFAbstract : This Research was intended to know the significant effect of using Crossword puzzle on vocabulary achivement of the eighth year students of SMP Negeri 5 Jember. The research design was Pre -experimental research with Nonequivalent-Group Post-test Only Design. The students’ scores of Vocabulary Achievement were analyzed by applying t-test formula the result indicated that the value of t-test was 2.54, while the t-table with the significant level 5% and degree of freedom (Df) 72 was 1,67. The value of t-test was 2,54 and it was higher than 1.67 (2.54 >1.67). In conclusion, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected while the alternate hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Get PDFAbstract.Cooperative learning has been studied widely throughout the world as promising approach. In this chance, there is a crucial problem to solve dealing with the students’ tense achievement in writing sentence, particularly in foreign language context. This Research was intended to know the significant effect of STAD technique on the seventh grade students’ tense achievement in writing sentences at SMPN Balung.The research implementation of quasi experimental design by using nonequivalent-groups post-test only design has resulted effect of X on Y. The students who were treated by using STAD outperformed their counterparts inthe control class who were taught using lecturing method. This was likely due to the fact that the control class got the chance on cooperative learning ”the act of helping each other learning among students in which they promote each other’ssuccess” while their fellow counterparts did not. In concuision,the study shows that there is significant effect of using STAD technique on the seventh grade students’ tense achievement in writing sentence at SMPN Balung in the 2011/2012 academic year. Get PDFAbstract. Based on the literature reviews, Think Pair Share Technique is an effective technique in teaching speaking. Mostly, the students have difficulties in speaking English. The research was carried out to improve the students’ speaking ability and active participation by using Think Pair Share Technique. Classroom observation was used to get the data about the students’ participation in the teaching and learning process. While, speaking test was implemented to test the students’ speaking ability by using Think Pair Share Technique. The results revealed that the students could improve their speaking ability and active participation by using Think Pair Share Technique. In that, they have shown better achievement in speaking English. This is likely due to the implementation of Think Pair Share Technique which facilitates the students to construct ideas and performing their ability especially in speaking. IMPROVING STUDENTS’ DESCRIPTIVE TEXT WRITING ACHIEVEMENT BY USING ERROR CORRECTION FEEDBACK

It is because writing forces students to think about the topic, develop the topic, and arrange ideas into a good composition. This research was intended to improve the seventh-A grade students’ descriptive text writing achievement at MTs Zahrotul Islam Dringu Probolinggo by using error correction feedback. Therefore, classroom action research was conducted. In the writing achievement test cycle 1, the students who got score ≥ 70 were 20 students or 80% and the students who got score under 70 were 5 students or 20%. In conclusion, the use of error correction feedback could improve the seventh-A grade students’ descriptive text writing achievement at MTs Zahrotul Islam Dringu Probolinggo. THE EFFECT OF USING ENGLISH AUTHENTIC READING MATERIALS ON THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION ACHIEVEMENT AT SMP NEGERI 1 TEMPUREJO
Get PDFAbstract : Reading is one of many ways to acquire information, where people can find it from television and internet. As reading dominates all activities in the English subject, the language components,namely pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary should also be learnt to support the language skills. Based on the English teacher interview result that authentic reading materials have never been used by the teachers, reading comprehension on the eighth grade students of junior high school of SMPN 1 Tempurejo Jember, so it was necessary to conduct a research in this school. The research design was quasi experimental. It began from conducting homogeneity test, deciding the experimental class and the control class, giving activities to the control class using the common technique and material usually applied by the English teacher and treatments to the experimental class that was using authentic materials in teaching reading, then giving the same post-test to both classes, and the last analyzing the results of the post test by using t-test. The result of this research The analysis of the post test results showed that there was a significant effect of using English authentic that of reading materials the experimental class got higher mean score than the control class (65, 1>57, 5) of the students’ reading achievement. Then, the result of data analysis using SPSS showed that the t-test value (2-tailed) 0.000, was less than 0.05.is expected to provide useful information for the English teacher to use interesting materials, that is, authentic materials in the English teaching learning process, especially in teaching reading comprehension, since the authentic materials have never been used at SMPN 1 Tempurejo Jember.
